The longer I take, the more hype it gets and the higher I feel like I have to aim for, thus it takes longer and there's more hype. In other words, death spiral of bonerville.
The timeframe as of now is "some time this year." I already learned my lesson about setting specific dates. (May? What was I smoking?)
I will definitely announce when beta has begun as that will be your sign that the time is nigh.

You are such a cool dude or lady. Someone is on my side!
I can't open Aegis or any of its backups in Snes9x. I've known about this for a little while but been ignoring it because I also know the cause (some borrowed code from SM:Redesign I got with permission from Drewseph). The game loads the screen with the Nintendo symbol, fade out, then nothing. Strangely, opening SM:Redesign in Snes9x has the exact same effect, and I know exactly what code is doing it (007F00-007FFF in the ROM unheadered), but I know this can't be true for everyone. So if anyone else who uses Snes9x could check and see if they can open Redesign in it, I'd love to know.
O_O' Redesign works just fine on my SNES9X 1.51...
Bah. I've tried several iterations of Snes9x and I've tried re-downloading the IPS and re-patching. I don't know what the deal is. Short of having a working SM:R ROM I'm stumped. Will have to see if someone on IRC can provide I suppose.
I don't know why they work fine in ZSNES (my emulator of choice) but not Snes9x.
Redesign works on Snes9X 1.43 and 1.51 on mine. That's strange.
Have you tried cleaning out the SRAM? Looking at you, you probably did something to the RAM (given you're using save stations too).
My other guess: You probably need to replay a point before any items you think are affected (if you were using RD's speedbooster code, check that part out).

=O
What the butt? Why would you think Redesign wouldn't work in SNES9x? If anything it's the reverse, as there are a couple vers of ZSNES that don't run it.
Are you sure this code is the problem? What exactly is this code supposed to do?

It's not only super metroid hacks that don't work on Zsnes versions. Some SMW hacks run into the same problem. I think it's some thing about headers and ROM expansion. Not to sure about this though.

In this case it's my specific ROM and has nothing to do with headers or expansion though. I even know the cause, I just need a working Redesign-in-Snes9x ROM to find the solution.

Um, Redesign works perfectly for me in snes9x v1.43 improvement 9.
I really hope you can fix this, I'm not a fan of zsnes
Ye of little faith!
Of course I'll fix this penguin dude.

Edit: Is fixed. Wasn't anything wrong with Aegis after all, apparently all three versions of Snes9x I had (1.43 imp15, 1.51, and debugger) + the one I downloaded from the official website earlier today to make sure it wasn't a problem with my Snes9x had the same bug. I don't know what this bug is (probably related to some quirk on my computer) but I downloaded Snes9x 1.51 from a random mirror site and there's no problem. Cpadolf let me know if I'd need to try one of the 1.43 improvement versions of Snes9x. If you are able to open Redesign you should have no trouble running Aegis when it releases.
I was told a while back that redesign doesn't work on the zsnes, after I reported the graphics being completely messed up. Yesterday, it suddenly started working for me, after I had just organized my desktop and moved the rom into a folder. Now, there aren't any errors with it. It might have been that I got the more recent version of the zsnes since last time I played it, but I don't know... Btw, that 'penguin dude' is Mr. Deedeedee from the Kirby series of games. That's his hammer attack. Just in case you didn't know! About Aegis. Seriously, are you trying to hold us over a fire and squeeze every last bit of drama, hopefulness, complements, and excitement about this hack out of us by making us wait a whole year more?!? Sorry... had to get that out of my system . Continue.
*Goes about business still clueless, while secretly, Acheron has already finished his hack. It's been done for 2 months, a week and 4 days, but he is secretly seeing how much hype and excitement he can generate...* So remind us, Acheron, what bits are you working on, and what percentage are they on their road to completion?
You know, sometimes, if you keep your hype on for too long, you're going to lose interest in it for a while. You probably should kind of hold the hype and interest for a while, then maybe a bit later (or when it's released), you can get your hype back.

I'm sorry, but your post made me look the word up in the dictionary, no offense:
hype
1 Something intended to decieve.
2 Exaggrated advertising or promotion.
So, the hype cannot continue for the person who's already downloaded Aegis and has been playing it. Although they too can promote the hype. Anyway, I think I see what your point is. Too much hype = loss of interest. Again, no offense intended.
That looks absolutely fantastic Acheron. I love the icy caves. I'm assuming that's Subverda? Also, the background in Radia between structures looked really interesting. I'll have to get a closer look when you release this.
Thanks for making my night. I can go to sleep happy now. :-D
oh my gosh, i think i peed a little when i watched that ! i especially love the idea of the chozodia style, since one of my fav things about redesign was the old-school ridley area. taking the look of another metroid game for an area is awesome. i really can't wait to play this ! i have so many questions, but i won't ask them - instead i'll just wait patiently.
well ok i will ask one little non-spoiling question: what is the proper pronunciation of aegis?
