That is without a doubt a very very VERY bad idea. Exploration is severely limited. It wouldn't even be a real metroid game anymore if you did that. Is that even possible? sounds kejardon-level.
Really? It seems kind of easy to me. It'd just be one variable - the one hour thing - wouldn't it? That should be easy to change, if you find it. I was just thinking, if this game is a lot longer, then give the experts and hour and a half instead of just an hour. Just thinking about that. Never mind if Acheron think's it's a stupid idea.
Unfortunately when this comes out i'll have to wait even longer for Cpa's 100% TAS
Nu uh, that one will most likely be done in less than a month :D
Ah, thanks for the good news! :)

Edit: I'm assuming you're talking about a one hour timer that would count down from the beginning of the hack.
This wouldn't work if Acheron were to insert a preset time for EVERYONE, however, it might in theory be possible to add a new game+ mode in which a timer was included based on the performance of the last playthrough. I'm not sure how much effort this would take but its probably tedious and would further delay the release which I don't want
Could you change the time at the end that you have to beat the game in ... ?
Wait, are you just talking about the escape timer? That's just in SMILE. I have no idea why you keep saying an hour or an hour and a half. A hack that had a time limit from the beginning would be somewhat interesting I guess... but that's something you'd have to build the entire hack around.
No, no, I mean at the end. After you escape Zebes. It tells you how long it took you to beat the game. The ending changes depending on your time. In SM, you trigger the special ending by beating the game in under an hour. I'm asking that he changes that for this one. Just a thought. Also, will you be locking this rom when you release it? B/c that'd be nice, and make it more like the original in that you can't really cheat except by looking up a walkthrough or something.

Now that I understand, that's actually a good idea in my opinion.
Also, i'm pretty positive he'll make it so none of us can open it with SMILE, kind of like how Saturn did with Impossible.

Three hours actually. Not sure how hard this would be to change or if it's worth changing. I hadn't thought about it to be honest. Maybe I'll mess with it later on.

Absolutely not, for two reasons: -It's not my job to tell someone how to play. If someone decides to "cheat" and look at the game, it's because they're not having enough fun exploring on their own and I've already done something wrong, or it's because they want 100% and are tired of looking. Either way there's no reason to keep players from doing that if they want to. -I really would love to see people start making half-hacks or full-hacks using, if nothing else, new music/tilesets. I don't care if I have credit for that kind of thing, and I'm tired of halfhack Zebes unless it's Cardweaver's work, so any way to encourage an alternative for halfhackers is good in my eyes.
As long as I'm thinking about it I should mention I'm not gullible, or even a gullicalf, so when the contest is go I will expect ZMV/SMV proof of completion of the contest requirements (which I will make clear after release).
This is a suggestion that may or may not already be in use in Aegis. In game play there's platforms that if you just stand there you slip to the left or right, as if it's a slippery surface. In my opinion, that would be cool to see in areas like Glacia or other potentially slippery surfaces like where there's water, ice, etc. Obviously not a feature to be overused by the creator, of course. Just a suggestion. :-)

You're talking about conveyors but they can only move the player one way, so it would be kind of weird to be moving left and get pushed to the right for no reason when you already have leftward momentum. Thanks for the idea though.

This makes a hell of a lot of sense. Way to sway me in the right direction Acheron. Also, the bolded-underlined part hurts my soulz.
Mostly done, have to do music and a few other things. Still not in beta yet so release isn't imminent but I can completely and confidently say "sometime this year" now. :P
Sorry for being a bumperton that might make no sense, but...
If people beg you to make a new hack after Aegis has had all its fun, will you do that? Pretty much, I hope this might be another advent in the SM Hacking Community as much as Redesign.

Immediately after Aegis is finished I will be doing a few side projects. Beyond that depends on how well-received the hack is and how busy my life is. If I do another hack it would have to blow Aegis out of the water though.
