fizzar had to drop room 2 (busy) so room 2 is up for grabs again.
But after reading more posts I'm gonna take this time and try and remove some item/items. I know giving too much in the first room is way too impractical and by removing the need to cf I can cut back. grapple, missles and power bombs is sort of essential to the gameplay time however. I can definitely drop supers though.
Spring ball wasn't in room one was it? Thats a path opener if you know how to work it. Even Spazer can be a path opener if you don't already have wave. Almost any (really any if enemies are involved) item other than etanks and reserve tanks can be used as a path opener.
Springball is a path opener in my almost finished hack. Unfortunately, I have a couple large projects due on the same upcoming day, so I must ditch my hack for now :(
room 2 is still open which technically makes the hack dead in the water for everyone else. I've been so bored that I've been adding rooms to it, just for practice I guess.. ..
cardweaver, yeah the sequence will be tough, I guess room 4 will have to be segmented. I don't want to stray aside anyone from their personal projects and theres no rush for this one. If anything it gives me more time to perfect the first room.
I could make room 4. Since I would enjoy that room the most any way. :-D
i could help you make a room as im preety good with smile but my own hack is in progress but send me what youve done and ill see what i can do mail me on sphatboi69@hotmail.com
After another 50 hours fine tuning my room, I'm satisfied (no, really this time).
Note to designer: This hack is meant to be hard, a few things I couldn't incorporate into room one was hbj, midair hbj, among other ridiculous feats of skill. But with the difficultly comes moderation. No silly invisible walls with unpractical hints, no spike laden balancing acts on single tile treadmills, basically nothing that even makes a pro player cringe. I've play tested my room 100 times over and tried for a challange that isn't annoying, just a good challange. I know this will make many potential players stray, but honestly I don't care, I'm setting out to give a good run for the hardcore bounty hunters.
Exactly what items will you have by the end of room 1? I could modify my room 3 plans if need be, just to get this thing going. Also, have you decided on the placement of the exit door? Will there be transition hallways, etc?

You will have morph, bomb, grapple, missiles, speed, and powerbombs. The specifics on missile and e-tank count I could provide to you privately.
The placement of the exit door already connects to a hall which connects to an elevator. The general shape will be different than my planned quadrant shape, infact the quandrant itself will just be the name of tourian. but the concept is still pretty much the same. I can PM you pretty much everything you need if you want to take it. Let me know :)
Ive been wondering if there will be another problem...
Would some of the rooms you plan to use potentially be corrupted from all of your editting on room 1? What might happen to some of the rooms when you make 3 more massive rooms and some hallways? I would go with rooms that are far away from each other, just in case.

Yeah that's the plan. I've pretty much demolished half of Crateria lol
I'd be happy to take room 2, so long as the later designers don't mind early deathtroids. I'd be able to get along with just three or maybe four new items, all intermediate (I'm thinking
DMantra, you wouldn't need to worry about corruption if you had repointed PML's (or have someone like me do it). also, I think that the other rooms will most likely get corrupted, even if they are "far away". think about it. they may be far away now, but what about when you connect them? they will be next to each other. I'll help with porinters if I can.

Thanks, I've sent ducknerd the hack, but when it goes back and forth a bit, I could send it to you so you can have a look at it. I don't think connecting rooms makes them more susceptible to corruption (but then again what do I know, I'm new to this). But I did connect a couple rooms and then went another 2000 over in the first room and they were unaffected, they just tore up other crateria rooms that were connected in the original.
Wait, you want to make hbj required? Well that's a bummer for me. :( I was looking forward to playing this one but if I can't beat it because I can't perform a tough technique, that's unfair... :(

To be honest, I'm not fond of that technique either. But something strange occured when I had to pull of that wall jump midair hbj in SM:I, after about 100 tries I finally pulled it off. I got this rush, I jumped off my chair screaming with joy. I saved on the ledge and decided to fall back down and try it again, I did it the second time with only several tries. I don't mean for this to be a bragfest, I'm speaking as a n00b that managed to pull it off, then understand the timing. Afterwards I felt the quadrant should have a secondary purpose than just a mini-hack, a training ground for all the toughest moves. Now granted, I'll create an easier version if that moment comes where the complaints role in, I owe it to a few people here when I played their hacks and bitched about some tough techniques. Heh. Mind you, there are a few challenges I won't include (and I'll have to run it by the designers), absolutely no balancing acts with treadmills, those aren't fun, they aren't even challenging, they're annoying.

I won't bitch about hard moves since I am pretty sure I stated it well enough in other topics.
Any way, Treadmills are extremely good actually where you design areas when you don't yet have many pickups. Or for pits like in maradia.
Also by connecting rooms you don't actually move them. So they won't get corrupted only by re-pointing the doors in rooms. Although I don't know how the PML's and scroll data is stored. SMILE actually have a list on in what order and what address the level data is stored! :P

That's... actually what Glitchtroid is. You have to exploit everything except beam shields. Couldn't figure out how to require them.
Got the stuff DMantra, for future reference of the designers, I will be using
the Norfair elevator (can't remember its address, sorry), the big room of the Wrecked Ship (CAF6) (naturally, this will also include the Wrecked Ship area) and the, metroids, oums, ice beam, spazer, and super missiles.
Hopefully that's not in anyone else's way. Exit will be a hallway to the right. Should I include a map station, D?
Also, completely off-topic, but you make some pretty spiffy music. I'm impressed you've kept at it for six years. Know that I'm a fan.

Yeah the map station should either be near the exit of your room or perhaps even hidden as a secret. But that sort of thing can be bumped off to final touches after we're both satisfied with getting to the halfway point and onto the third designer. And thanks for listening to my music! :D
