Since it is inevidable that we will be talking about the gameplay very soon, I decided to create this topic early. For me, this is also going to be a lot of opinion rather than fact to begin with.
I've played the single player for roughly five and a half hours already, and am throughly impressed with it: It's not as bad as we made it out to be from everything we'd heard. (At least in my opinion) Yes, there is a lot of 'Key" hunting, but it does it in a way that's not as bad as it was in Echoes. There are a few surprises at every new turn, and being able to return to an area and find something new, a staple of the series, is still evident in this game.
As of right now, I've completed 39% of the game (Which appears to be the number of items collected if I understand it correctly, since I only got 3-4% in the last 90 min.), have four of the six other hunter's weapons (Which you must locate in order to collect) and have collected four of the eight special artifacts. (Can't spell their name, unfortunately) Once you expore each of the first four locations once, the game becomes more like what past Metroids are all about: EXPLORATION :D You can travel between them at will, sometimes running into the other Hunter's there (The map tells you which ones are there before you land.) while trying to find a new item or path.
However, I managed to locate a room on the lava planet (Alinos if I recall) that seems to shed some light on the 'Ultimate Power". Basically, there were four scannables in there that mention something that seems to resemble Metroid Prime from the description, (Didn't mention appearance, mainly that it is some terrible creature) being sealed away in an alternate dimension by the Alimbic Cannon. According to the scans, this weapon has something to do with Anti-Matter, but I can't remember what. From what I understand, collecting the eight artifacts is the key that will reactivate this weapon.
Don't know about you guys, but there's definitely a pattern here.
Edit: Oh, and there are certain parts of the Celestial Archives area (The first place you go) that you can actually fall off of and DIE, since there are rooms that are outside the station with Space around you.
