Since it is inevidable that we will be talking about the gameplay very soon, I decided to create this topic early. For me, this is also going to be a lot of opinion rather than fact to begin with.

I've played the single player for roughly five and a half hours already, and am throughly impressed with it: It's not as bad as we made it out to be from everything we'd heard. (At least in my opinion) Yes, there is a lot of 'Key" hunting, but it does it in a way that's not as bad as it was in Echoes. There are a few surprises at every new turn, and being able to return to an area and find something new, a staple of the series, is still evident in this game.

As of right now, I've completed 39% of the game (Which appears to be the number of items collected if I understand it correctly, since I only got 3-4% in the last 90 min.), have four of the six other hunter's weapons (Which you must locate in order to collect) and have collected four of the eight special artifacts. (Can't spell their name, unfortunately) Once you expore each of the first four locations once, the game becomes more like what past Metroids are all about: EXPLORATION :D You can travel between them at will, sometimes running into the other Hunter's there (The map tells you which ones are there before you land.) while trying to find a new item or path.

However, I managed to locate a room on the lava planet (Alinos if I recall) that seems to shed some light on the 'Ultimate Power". Basically, there were four scannables in there that mention something that seems to resemble Metroid Prime from the description, (Didn't mention appearance, mainly that it is some terrible creature) being sealed away in an alternate dimension by the Alimbic Cannon. According to the scans, this weapon has something to do with Anti-Matter, but I can't remember what. From what I understand, collecting the eight artifacts is the key that will reactivate this weapon.

Don't know about you guys, but there's definitely a pattern here.

Edit: Oh, and there are certain parts of the Celestial Archives area (The first place you go) that you can actually fall off of and DIE, since there are rooms that are outside the station with Space around you.
Thread title:
Anywhere, everywhere
I haven't gotten this game yet, should get it this weekend, but I noticed something strange when watching one of the videos on IGN.

In the introduction, when it has that light sinking and it shows the companies logos, right at the end there is a quick flash. I paused the movie there and noticed that it is something that I've never seen before. It has a visor similar to Samus' but the body is much different. Could this possibly be another hunter, the ultimate power, or even the final boss? I don't know if people with the game know who this is or anything, but I find it strange.

Octoliths
I'm almost as far as you (currently at the boss of the acc-ice planet place)

I'm enjoying it quite a bit, i want to get as much done as possible tonight, before LOST.

It's a really impressive game, and i love the twitch parts.  It's the closest to mouse/keyboard you can get on a handheld and i'm amazed at how fluid it works.

Have you unlocked the 7th hunter yet?  I'm only missing one.  (Red dude with one eye)

Also, i'm very happy with the fact that you can select every single weapon you've currently unlocked without returning to your ship.  (Hold down at the top right corner of the screen and then select it)

I wish i knew that earlier.
Ah, another Lost fan. :D My DS needs more charging anyway right now, so everything's working out in the end.

I probably have unlocked him, (Trace if I recall) but I haven't checked out the multiplayer to find out how much I have so far. Actually, I'm now closing in on the sixth Octolith for myself (I've tried the boss fight against the third pillar, but keep losing since I can't keep up with all the random things coming at me), and have collected the fifth weapon. The bosses guarding them are steadily getting tougher. (For the third faceoff against the eye thing, I found out using the electric beam that resembles the Wavebuster works pretty well: The one with blue symbol)

Ran across a few interesting Morph Ball puzzles along the way, but you should watch out when you get to the place with the pistons in Alinos: YOU WILL DIE if you get crushed by them, trust me... Embarassed

Most likely have to wait until tomorrow to take another stab at the boss, but I may play for an hour or so after Lost depending on how I feel.

Edit: I'm actually using the dual mode instead of the stylus to look around. I am more comfortable this way and it feels more like the movement in Prime and Echoes to me.

Thats the Shock Coil. I know that, and i dont even have the game yet.  Laughing

I tried walmart tuesday, but they didnt have it yet. CURSE YOU CANADIAN SHIPPING!!!!!  Evil or Very Mad
so far, i have 3 of the 6 weapons, and 4 of the octomablahblah key things, although i really have to admit, sometimes the hunter encounters can be really really one sided for them.
(such as a close quarters combat round verses spire) and ive unlocked all of the hunters in multiplay mode  :D  uh oh, for once there actually being a 3d metroid game that we havent beaten in less than 3 days, the moon is going to fall on us!
doesn't help that it came out early on in the week toward the end of a semester with a new control scheme on a system not everyone has.
the control scheme isnt exactly new for me, i thrive on it, especially since i had nothing but the demo to play for like the first 3 weeks i had my ds.

Uh, don;t worry about that...  Wink

Just completed it a few minutes ago: The final battle is very anti-climatic: You defeat the final boss, and the game kinda ends right then and there...  Question  It did hint to me that I wasn't compltely done, since on the final screen it said:

Mission Complete ?

Anyway, got a final time of 8:59, so overall that's not too bad (I have played it almost non stop since I've gotten it) I do have to say that I came away very impressed with the game by the end. Although, once I got past octolith six, the game felt very rushed to me. It seemed to be a little too easy to collect the artifacts, face the final two bosses, and then get to the final battle.

Anyway, now that I've completed the single player game, anyone who needs help can ask me. Besides, now that I've competed it, I will be able to play the multiplayer against everybody. :D

Edit: Hey, it keeps track of your top five completion times, as well as a time for the final boss battle (Although it does say Phase One and has another column that is open right now, so I have a strong feeling that I missed something: Perhaps if I collected 100% of the items?)
From what I have heard, there is a second phase too the final boss... I think you get to use 'the weapon' against it's second phase... Wait... Did you get to use it?
According to someone on GameFaqs, "you have to shoot the runes on the wall with cooresponding weapons." I'm not sure which runes, but you can't even hit the runes before the boss. Maybe I did it wrong.
I wondered if they were merely decoration or not: You can get pretty close to them during the battle.
Oh those? I thought he meant shooting the symbols two rooms before the actual fight. You can shoot the runes during the battle, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
I tried to shoot the ones after the teleporter, but they didn't seem to do anything for me (Of course, I may have been using the wrond weapon at the time)
To quote someone from GameFaqs:

"No and no. Gorea is not unlockable. As for the Omega Cannon, you get it by blasting those colored panels first. That unlocks a longer battle with Gorea and you get to use the Omega Cannon. Winning that fight lets you use Oubliette as a multiplayer map, with the Omega cannon there as well."

I'm going to try it tonight.

<edit>It didn't work, I believe that those things on the wall will change somehow.</edit>

<edit2> This is what someone else on GameFaqs said, and so far it's working, I just need to beat the boss:

"They will spin if you shot them with the right beam. The combination is.

Yellow
Green
Orange
Blue
Purple
Red

Shoot them in that order and you can then beat the boss, he will not explode and you get a different fight and ending after you are done.

As well as a new multiplayer map that has the final beam weapon in it."

Yeah... I figured that out on my own. It pays to pay attention to the ancient prophecies when they talk gobbldeygook that revolves around your weapon colors. I made sure to "write" that down in Notepad. Suitless Samus ftw.

EDIT: What I'm thinking tho is... why the hell did Samus open the thing up in the first place, after all those scans about how Gorea was like omg terror? I mean, did she just think she was badass enough to defeat the ultimate evil that pretty much extinguished an entire race? Nevermind the fact that she was right, it seems pretty damn foolhardy. Did beating MP go to her head or something?

Lol, like I can get some.

It's basically the ZM/Echoes appearence, only it doesn't look all horribly crappy like it did in Echoes.

And you screwed over my edit. ;p
Cook of the Sea
Heh, the Echoes one was a joke on wheels.  I am, again, very interested to see what the figure looks like under the suit given the fact that the suit is now accentuating the figure rather than generalizing it.

EDIT: Ignore what was said here. It was false.
I'll get video of the final ending, with suitless Samus, when I get back. The quality won't be the best, since it's my digital camera recording the DS, but it's good enough.

Is there a hard mode after you beat the game?

(Notice, if you check the stats on nintendowifi.com there is a weapon to the right of the list of most used weapons with an icon you probably havent seen anywhere... ;) )
No hard mode, the last icon's for the Omega Cannon, on the Dubillette level after you beat the second form of Gorea.
Any pics of the final boss and other uber cool part of Hunters? =D I would appreciate it.
