pretty useless for speedruns, but idk if it's been known that this dash is possible and it's fun anyways.

rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
It's probably worth timing this and gauging if it's worth doing it not in any% runs. I doubt it saves much time, but in hundo it should be enough to warrant learning. (I also wouldn't be surprised if a setup could be made to jump to the rock facing backwards to avoid turning around).

updated hazels old timing video with a 60 fps magma pool IS and more optimized movement to the save station.

Also added timing for phen edge PB.

(and added ghost skip)

Guess I'll add this here, since it is a veeeery slight time-save and I already posted it in the discord. I'm not aware if it was known before but at least there's another video of it now!

Jack that boost doesn't save time as you have to wait for the unmorph animation to finish anyways.
I'm pretty confident it can let a person unmorph earlier with the extra speed and save maybe a handful of frames.
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
Unmorphing forwards has a speedcap, so it wouldn't cover any extra distance/you'd still have to unmorph at the same spot optimally
That's a bummer. But I never figured there was a speedcap to unmorphing. Is there a cap on the morphng speed too?
The TAS did get around the unmorph speed cap here although I don't know how it works specifically. All I remember is that it has to do with the half-pipe:

rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
The sideways unmorphs at 38:48 and 46:51, well, they do just that, unmorph sideways.

probably not too professional but it fits well enough I guess...

Dashing is the clear winner in Canyon Tavern most of the time (especially once you consider the optimal dash entrance) and boosting in Tallon Canyon is far easier and a bit faster than dashing since it's well, boosting, and cuts out a jump even if you unmorph.
I hope I don't look like an idiot.
Thank you for posting these.
For the dash method in Tallon Canyon you can do another dash off the Zoomer after the first dash, which I think is faster by a little bit.

I'll time that next. Also, boosting through Ruins Entrance (before Main Plaza from Tallon elevator) is faster than unmorphing. I just beat the load with boosting into an upwards bounce and bombed the door. Figured I'd add that since I've asked multiple people and they were unsure. Unrecorded but take my word.

edit:
Apologies for the sudden audio explosion. Amarec has been acting really funky lately. They're still pretty much even with the better boost entrance/movement I did though, discount the turning from the last failed L jump.

Root Tunnel from Root Cave: Pretty much the same unless you get an amazing boost unmorph and good jumps.

Root Tunnel from Tallon Canyon: Dash just barely wins, a bit more if you aim at the sac as you fall from the L jump

Crossway Access West: Instant unmorph saves a heckload of time but it's a pretty tight window and the cue is terrible for humans.

Tallon Canyon from Root Tunnel: lmfao

Ruins Entrance: Boost wins but less consistent but the speed might affect the next room a bit so it evens out anyways. idk how to conclude it.

Crossway: R jump is way easier...

Edit: Sorry for the double post...

Nice comparisons, though I would like to see at least the door opening since it's often about hitting the load trigger asap.
Also you can boost in Root Tunnel from Tallon Canyon on the left side and then boost + unmorph at the end over the small water pit. Idk if that is any faster.

Timing starts on first frame of door open and ends on first frame of door open for every single video. (for Ruins Entrance I had to use hitting the bump since the 2 strats are so different because of the boost with the unmorph)

For Root Tunnel, the load trigger is just past the plant so the best bet is to boost near the end of the platform then unmorph mid-air so you run into it yeah. It wasn't perfect but that was the point of the comp. I lost less than a half second because it wasn't a full speed boost but I did indeed hit the trigger pretty soon. It's just that they both hit the trigger at the same time so the second half of the room is all that matters really. I'd say dashing is much safer since you can lose your SJ in the water, but if you wanna be optimal then getting a good boost would do the trick. I did try boosting into the room then 2x boosts but never had enough distance to get high speed for the unmorph.

Edit: I also timed rolling vs. boosting vs. dashing into Antechamber (Ice Beam)...well...dashing is slower unless I can replicate this specific R dash that bounces me off a wall and into ice.
This is sick. Nice work

np. If anybody wants to, they have 100% permission to post these on Chozopedia. I'd just rather not have to go through all the effort myself to make them and post more than here. It gets to be a bit much after a while.

depressing

Edit: 4.5 second difference, the video does not show this. A really good rock jump makes up so much time.

I just compared to Edazn's video. My morph into the missile was a lot faster, but if you compare at when each video lands on the last pole, this still saves 2 seconds (I didn't shoot the door but there's no reason you couldn't on the first L jump).
