Why isn't there a speed tricks thread made already? <_<

Anyway, I was playing this game today for some reason and I found a few small time savers, most of them are just jumps abusing scan points like this (not all of them are roll jumps though):

once I've played through more of the game I might upload a compilation video or something.

I think I figured out why!

...Anyway, there is one. Though it hasn't been posted in for 3 years.

Oh, well I might as well post there then, is there any way to delete this thread?
You could probably ask to combine it?

Also I thought you were kidding when you said you were playing mp3 in my twitch chat <_< lol
(dangit awkward layout change, Idk how to edit my post with this weird layout and i don't wanna double post...)

also itspersonnal, if you want to look for stuff on mp3, you should probably look at metroid2002.com's stuff on it first, since yes, there are some actual tricks on it :P Good luck finding some stuff though! As much as I prefer mp1/2 over mp3, it'd be cool to see more tricks for it!

Also, getting the Docking Hub Alpha missile tank earlier doesn't really save much time in-game for 100%. You can just land your ship there, then go get it with grapple swing, then leave; the trip to go from your ship to the missile tank and back is the same distance-wise as when your'e doing it early, so you might as well do it with grapple beam. It WILL save time in RTA though, since it means one less ship trip (and mp3 loading times, lol <_< )

having an early missile might save some on Ridley in Any%? Idk :P
Missiles are useless against ridley. they're useless in general :p but as I said, getting that missile tank early does save time in RTA (just not in-game time).

also, it'd be great if you could find a way to get the missile tank in temple of bryyo in fiery bryyo. In the 100% cleanup, the theoreticaly route goes to fiery bryyo juts to grab that one missile tank, which is a very annoying detour (almost as annoying as the chozodia power bomb tank in ZM...). I tried messing with the SW in http://www.metroid2002.com/corruption/secret_worlds_temple_of_bryyo.php but can't really do much with it :/
Also (god dangit i hate double posting), what do scan point do exactly in mp3 anyways? Do they maintain momentum similarly like pressing L+R in mp2, or pressing R in the air in mp1?

if you scan a target fully it does something weird with your height, and lets you get onto things that are a little too high other wise. a similar thing can be done in the first area of the game (idk what the ships called) to skip a BSJ, its the room right before Missiles.

okay this is late but itsPersonnal, that trick is very old - I found that way back when the game first came out, and you can just do a straight roll jump across without messing with the scan visor. Plus it's way easier to just do a rolling ssj across... back when I recorded that video rolling ssj hadn't been found yet, it was that close to release lol

As far as lockons are concerned, I believe all it is is that being locked onto something tightens up the controls akin to strafing in MP1 or 2, so Samus is more responsive when you start moving instead of slowing accelerating and decelerating; doesn't sound like a big deal but it makes a massive difference sometimes. It's not specific to pre-scanned targets or even scan targets at all, rather just a general lock-on thing. I don't think they affect height, but it's not out of the question I guess.

Basically it's the equivalent of the difference between walking around and jumping with and without holding down L in MP1/2.

Early Scrapworks Shipple Missile Expansion: Found this out yesterday. I found this to be way more consistent for me than the current strat. You boost up a bit then boost to the right. The 2nd boost pushes you up the slope onto the platform.
How do you roll jump?

Anyways, I decided to figure out some cool spring ball strats for the morph ball puzzle in Generator C.

That's not new, people just don't like do it because of how inconsistent spring ball is(?) iirc Parax's segmented run does that (probably a good run to watch to find a little of other little optimizations) and I've seen a couple SS runners use it when they're feeling risky.

Roll jumps are the same idea as a BSJ, obstruct the camera to instant unmorph within a certain frame window after the morph ball is no longer "on the ground".
I want to say the window is 22 frames, it might be 21? I can't remember.
Can somebody PLEASE explain the Gateway (Bryyo) BSJ to me please. It's so random.

tl;dr it sucks. you do have to remember to jump to the left after the unmorph so you don't bump your head. Otherwise you just hate life.
I already do. I dread it every run.
No setup? I'll make my own. Consistent gateway BSJ setup:

rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
Dang.
Anybody have a good setup to the 2BSJ in Command Courtyard? It sucks worse than the Gateway BSJ due to damage every time you miss.
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
I had a setup that I remember finding for the series race, but twitch removed all my past broadcasts from that point in time <_<
If you can make a video + description that would be great :D
Nvm. I made one.

Why are 2BSJ's so hard?
Yay more speed tricks!

"This should definitely save time" - me, when I saw this SW 8 years ago

Edit: There is no reason to not do this now (aside from being wise and not putting this game in your Wii in the first place).
