Why would one want to remove a state? All you have to do is to not use it... as for adding more states to a room, I know I asked about that earlier in this thread. And the answer, as I understood it, is that you have to create a new room since the data for states is in the room header, and there's more vital data right after that, so adding more states would cause you to overwrite something.

Also, don't confuse IRC (the chat) with IIRC (If I Remember Correctly)

Graphics editor should be what you want.
SMILE 2.10 released today.  Since 2.00, the basic changes include:
-Translations (basic menus) for English, French, Finnish, and Latin.
-Quickmet/RoomTest now allows heat rooms and glowing colors (and any other FX1 effects it was denying before)
-32x32 mode has had a few fixes (particularly when cloning doors)
-Tile Type Preview (used to be double click) is a bit less quirky and stays enabled as you select different tiles or place tiles down
-Lots of bug/glitch fixes, including that really annoying bug... you know the one I mean.  In case you don't, it's the one where transparent parts of a layer 1 tile won't erase the layer 1 data that was previously there if layer 2 is disabled.

Didn't get as many things in this release as I was hoping, but still improved.  You're likely to see more upgrades soon, as I'm actually using the program now instead of just programming it. (ie- I've started graphics and level editing, finally)

You can use SOLA, though I never actually updated SOLA like I had planned yet.  As fro using the program, I've been doing ASM all this time so...

In SMILE related news (though this isn't in the current release):
-Print Screen Key (plus Shift or Ctrl) will now take a snapshot (instead of pressing F12)
-View modes made less quirky.  You are going to absolutely love what I've done with the Custom mode... It actually works as it was originally intended, stretching the level editor as large as possible for your settings... Tested out on widescreen and everything.

How would I change the animation for Spore Spawns death? I want to change it so he explodes like a torizo when he is killed, instead of turning to stone. Can it be done without ASM? If not, would anyone be able to change it and send the ASM file for it? I have no idea how I would change an enemy's data...

Don't think so, but if it can be, it'd be the same as with the other enemies . . . In the DNA, change "Death Anim" to the appropriate one.  If that doesn't work (don't think it will), then he's hard coded to do things the way he does and you'd need ASM.

If you just changed the palettes a bit (so it becomes gray instead of brown), I think that thing turning into stone could be a nice effect.

For the map room tileset, where does the table data start and end?
I have tried looking myself but the next tilesets values are less than the map room tileset... Shocked

Well, the palettes aren't even close to being done at this point.  I have *everything* in one single palette at this point.  Once graphics are a bit further along, I'll be spreading things out to at least 3 different palettes so things don't have to share colors (which is why dirt and rocks are the same color... no shading under the bridge... watermelon on the table instead of a banana...)

On a side note, I was thinking about the moving bridge idea some more (as 6 people have already told me how cool that would be).  Came acrossed a way of doing it that would be so insanely easy that I can't pass it up.  Plus, I came up with another idea (two?) for the bridge that may have to be looked at as well.

Pointed out by who? Seems you realized quickly though. And there I was wondering if there would be some issue with editing the palettes for spore spawn's death, until I was halfway through the text laugh new

You can change what is displayed on the status screen by editing the rom in a tile editor....I use TLP. As far as changing the names when it's picked up (touch Gravity suit, comes up Gravity suit on the screen), I have no idea. I need to.

I've already changed them in TLP for the menu screen. As rolando said, the rest needs to be done in hex.
I got some help on #jzd so I'm already well into renaming.
How can I change the damage that acid and lava does to Samus and how can I change the defence power of Varia and Gravity suit?

Is there a way to make the gravity suit no defend against heated rooms?
It would be cool to have the gravity add some defense and make liquids not effect you and then have the varia add defense and block heat damage.(the defense each adds would be the same but stackable)
Also i would like to make it so unless you have both lava still hurts you.
Would this be difficult to do?
I figured I would post this for anybody that needed help with editing the Item Pickup names.  This would be what displays on screen when you touch a pickup, not what is shown on the Equipment screen. It is a document that Kejardon made, but I went ahead and gathered all the original values for every item pickup (that I remember) and added them to that document. This document is also for editing other game texts.

Originally there were only 3 text colors for the pickup, but I found another usable color, Blue, with the value $2CXX.

Anyways, here is the updated version to Kejardon's Item Change document, which isn't updated on the site.

is there a better program where i could edit the enemies because tlp is a pain in the ass to use i tried looking for enemies,beams,suits but i can't find them no matter what a do....

it would be cool if the new smile would edit enemies like in tlp but with less hassle..
