Regarding blue doors, It's easy to have them facing left, but right sided they open as if left sided and it looks a bit glitchy. I've looked back into other rooms and instead of two greet dots there is one green dot for the right sided door. any tips?
Easiest way to fix that would be to copy a doorcap from another room that's facing the direction you want.  Then it should open correctly.

The next thing is the background layer, Since I'm reworking the one room hack extensively, I accidently pressed 3 and it cut off the background. I liked it cause it seemed like nighttime, along with the special fx of fog. Is there a way to remove the mountains background?
Only if it has a layer 2, you could then make everything on layer 2 the black empty tile.  Removing the background you could do this, but what's beneath isn't pretty at all lol garbled tiles n whatnot.
Maybe try changing the background pointers? Not sure if you can make there be no background at all, though...

0000 will give you no background. It tends to make things a little dull, though. If you want a nighttime scene, FX1 has some nice effects that will look less artificial.
you never need a BG pointer, just leave it at 0000, that way you can make your own custom BG for any room

So I change the BG_Data to 0000? I tried that and there was still the same mountains/sky BG.

The sky background's weird, it's in Layer 2 as well.
How would you make an item or a speed booster block look like a different block?
for speed booster block, you use the bts bar to click and drag a speedbooster icon onto the block you want to change, jsut like you did with the crumbling grapple.

for items, change the PLM to the one of the same item half covered by a shot block. (right click on the item and select type. The ones covered in shot blocks are near the end of the list)

Would it be possible to put a maridia boss/miniboss in a room next to the landing site?

and how do you give an energy tank or missile a different amount? like in redesign

Is there a way of copying the map to an image file without it exposing all the special blocks and leaving out plms? I've seen a pretty decent map for sm once. Just wondering if that's possible.

Redesign must have used some custom programming to make the pickups give different amount. Edited; turns out I was wrong here.
You can do it in a way; each item has 3 different versions: one for the items that are in plain sight, one for the items that are in item balls, and one for those that are hidden in the tile they occupy. These can each be given different values.
Mogle:  No, SMR has no extra coding for sifferent ammo pickups.  the option to cheange those is right there in the PLM window in SMILE.  and I only used those types of 3 plm's in the available list.

Dmanta:  Yes, when you make a screenshot of the level just hide 'show BTS'  by hitting F3.    Also, about BG pointer 0000, for landing site, you still get the sky because the sky is loaded into  FX2, IMO you should change FX2 to 0000, BG to 0000, layer 1/2 to something used in another room, and the scroller in the third tab of smile to something used by other rooms, it can vary
Huh, you can still only give each PLM type one value, though, right? I never noticed that Redesign matched it up to which PLM was used... guess I wasn't paying enough attention.

as for some of my red/green doors, facing left or right (which I c&p from other areas in the game to make sure they work, I have this strage issue where I can morph ball under the bottom tile of the door. It's really bothering me.
green/red doors are PLMs... not tiles. You can't really copy paste them. For the doors, you need to put a set of blue shield tiles under the PLM, and you need to make sure all the shield tiles are either shot blocks or verticals.

Edit: I had this problem when placing doors in places where they weren't originally. You're problem is probably that one of the tiles is simply air. The top tile of your door can probably be passed through as well.

Hmm, that doesn't seem to be the case here. I do have the blue doors behind the plms. And the doors are two sets of twoshot blocks. So theres no air tiles. Either way, it doesn't really effect my hack as you need at least 3 vertical air tiles to even get a run going.

Honestly, I have no idea. I asked a while ago and nobody said anything.

Also honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. Neither one of my hacks has been locked, and I'd say all but a few of the people who played them didn't look at it. Most people who play the hacks play them for the new experience.

Well that's good to know. I'm not exactly in tune with this community yet, my friends that played it kept using smile to find secrets and I thought they were taking the new experience out..  :(
Okay, my one room hack is nearing 75%, but I need to know if you can put a maridia boss right next to the landing site. If it's too difficult I will just give that part up.
Shouldn't be too hard, just make one of the doors in the room lead to the boss room. You don't need to do any more than that if you don't care about the map being off, as far as I know.
