Oh WOW. That was purely epic. Everything was so detailed and looked so different from the original SM, even though it used the same graphics. awesome, Dman. I now anticipate this hack more than any other too.
Bizarre. I think your palettes look better while in motion rather than in screenshots. I liked the purple ruins area with the stairs and the fast Zeelas, and the second underwater area with the vines in the foreground and background. I really liked the general feel of the elevator bit. However, I think that the marble area should use a different color gradient. Currently the main ruin tiles don't look that great, and I think a better gradient would look a lot better. Finally, that red area with the fake Kraid looks awesome, like it's inside a gigantic creature or something. I don't know whether that was your intention, but to me that's what it looks like.

I think it looks perfectly fine. Actually, my first version wasn't all that great (a bit too white and sharp shaded), I have Crys to thank for making it look much better.

It sort of is, the entire area is within the hollow of a phazon tree, so it's very organic and red in the center (the Hive), the outside is blue like the elevator segment in the video (Phazon Hollows)
You said this will definitely be more than 100 rooms. maybe you should start adding space at the end of the rom and not waste as many rooms.(just a thought.)
DMan stubbornly resists our offers to help him do these things more easily. Doesn't matter, though... if he ends up needing more space, we'll help him with that too.
The video looks great, DMantra. My only gripe would probably be that it's sometimes hard to tell what's foreground and what's background. We shall see. :)
Hard to say. Every time I think I've got the rest planned out and could make an accurate estimate, a myriad of ideas explode in my skull and I have to use them.
I always update my notepad so this is a pretty good idea -
"AREAS COMPLETED: PLANET SURFACE 11/12 ARCHEOLOGIC STUDY 6/6 *COMPLETED* ERIS STATION 6/6 *COMPLETED* RESERVOIRS 14/14 *COMPLETE* PHAZON HIVE 16/16 *COMPLETE* SACRED GROUNDS 13/15 ETHOS 10/10 *COMPLETE* MARBLE SHRINE 9/15 PHAZON GARDENS 1/XX ICE PALACE X/XX NEW AREA X/XX FINAL AREA X/XX SECRET REALM X/XX"
Well done Dmantra, well done. It looks like its over half complete?

how % is the hack complete?
It kinda pisses me off when discussion topics are filled up with questions like this from people that aren't even making a hack themselves. It's half done when it's half done, and it's done when it's done.
It's understandable though. People are excited for new hacks, especially ones that look this promising. Some hackmakers like to keep the masses updated while some are deliberately more withholding. I don't, however, see the distinction in this context between those who are and aren't making hacks. Let's not make this a two-class board. It's a place for those of us who like to play hacks to discuss them as well as those who have the skill and patience to make them (while fully acknowledging my gratitude for those who do make them).
But I also see your point, it will be done when it's done, and asking isn't going to change that. The authors will update us as they see fit.
And if you assume that the hack was started within a month before DMantra started this thread, that'd mean only twelve weeks have elapsed. If hacks of this quality were produced in twelve weeks, we'd never have time to post a reply here!
Ok Bloodsonic, I KNOW how long it takes hacks to be complete, ESPECIALLY Super metroid hacks.
I was estimating if it was half complete because DMANTRA showed his statistics in every area.
I am not a person who brags about "Hey when will this hack be completed" OR "Come on I can't wait hurry up Dmantra"
And yes I agree that people who ask those questions are annoying.
Yeah, there shouldn't be a release date. It's out when it's out. Release date will only make his hack worse because of rush. We want quality hack, not the sloppy one.
Exactly I agree with you aigamer. Posting a release date wont help as it will make the hack sloppy and what if his postpones the date because he needs to put more work in it.
Now, on topic. Are you going to put custom music? Or leave it. It is your choice and I hope this doesnt sound like rushing the hack or anything.
