Quote from DMantra:
For those interested to know, I'm composing a full length album for the game.
Before hacking I made music for 6 years so I thought I'd whip something up.
Looking to be 30-40 tracks.

You mean...  Custom music (a'la that rumored hack called "Aegis")?  Shocked

'Cause that's what I think you're saying.  And Hope.  Eh?

*no words*  *bows*

laugh new j/k @ Acheron.

Edit: Now that I think about it...  Super Metroid can't have 30+ [some] tracks.  Can it?

I really did think you meant downloadable mps or whatever.  But if you could get some tracks in the game...

As long as you got space in the bank you can have as many tracks as you want.
Problem would be getting them to work with the music engine and loading the right sound samples.

Breathe in the Future, Breathe out the Past
It's just an album of mp3s that are 192kbps. I'm not even going to attempt music in-game. Besides, I like the limitless format of composing anything I want. I planned to make an album for Cliffhanger but decided on making a tracklist of other artists that inspired me which I only shared with a select few on irc. Can't really do that sort of thing here.

There's a store? Interesting, but I'd still provide the album freely.
It's great that your making an album, but I'm curious why you would do that if you don't include it in your hack?  Question
Yo.

Most likely so you can listen to it while you're PLAYING the hack. Exclamation

Sounds great, DMan. If they sound as good as your leisure-created tracks, I'll definitely swing by to ask permission if I can use them elsewhere... =)

Sweet, looking forward to the album for Eris!!  grin new

I've thought before...  In that part of Cliffhanger after you get the Springball that a tune that is in sync (somewhat) with the ON/OFF switching of the water would (or could) make that about 80 times easier / less frustrating. Razz

Edit: Not so much 'After' you get it as it would be just for that area of the game.

Another thought I've had before...  I am gunna check out some of your tunes DMantra.  For sure this time. Embarassed

Breathe in the Future, Breathe out the Past
I really should be hacking but I've just been having way too much fun with this the past couple weeks.

Anyways here's the cover.

Edit: Removed the track list because there's still a lot of work to be done. Looking to be 38 tracks now instead of 36.

Question: Should this be released along side Eris? Or should it be stand alone and available shortly.
It's technically not a spoiler, and hearing the tracks beforehand may shape how you see the areas.

Those track names just make me more curious, and eager to play this. aiwebs_011

Is it just me that borders of physically aching to play some of the more recent hacks? Razz
...
That album cover looks awesome!  I look forward to both the hack and the album.

I think it would work out nicely to hear the album before playing the game.  It's not really a spoiler to me and would give me a chance to really listen to the music first without being distracted by playing the game at the same time.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I'd actually prefer to hear the music in the hack first, as it'd add to the oh-my-gosh factor, especially when entering anywhere dangerous, and the music kicks in to forewarn you. aiwebs_011
I don't mind when it's released, really.  Though I think you need a better album title than "Music for Eris."  Just call it "Eris" or something to do with Eris but not so generic. :D

ECHOES OF ERIS  Cool

aiwebs_022 maybe?

ETA

A lost distress call goes out, but it's too late for anyone to help.  All you can hear.... are the echoes.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The music will be a collection outside of the hack that you would listen to in iTunes or media player or summat, so actually, it wouldn't do that.

Anyways, I agree with fp that "Music for Eris" is a really crappy title. You do not need to construct additional pylons; I'd just go with "Eris" as a title.

As for when to release it, I would prefer it to be released standalone, since I'm bored and want to listen to songs which I find excellent for half but annoying for the other half.[/referencenobodywillget]
I see parts of the Maridia tile set in that cover... looks really good.

I really wouldn't have minded if Eris had stayed as a mini hack. Not a bad thing to make a full hack of it though, especially if you haven't planned to make any more hacks.

Alright already, I'll change the title to 'Eris'.

In other news, I made a 16 square long corridor that has the ability to give you a throbbing headache where you can't walk a straight line. How?

It's a flat surface run where the foreground was put in layer 2 with a slow scroll. Imagine it this way, when you play guitar hero for too long, you look around the room and see stuff moving up and down. Well in this case it's more of a horizontal thing, which doesn't bode well with your balance. I'll keep it for the sake of weirdness. It's pretty cool, just don't run around in there too long.

I agree with naming the album "ECHOES OF ERIS".  It's so much better than "Eris" or "Music for Eris", which is rather bland in my opinion.

I look forward to this corridor....  grin new Evil or Very Mad grin new

This corridor can give you a headache!  This corridor can hypnotize you!  And best of all, this corridor can be used as a weapon!

I have to see this for myself, DMantra! laugh new laugh new laugh new
Go ahead. Stare.
You wouldn't be putting the Pipe Boots in this corridor would you? Wink

It sounds very interesting, though I never did see things moving after playing GH or RB. (Maybe it just takes longer than I've played it at one time?) Of all the rooms now, this corridor is my most anticipated.
I've played DDR for too long before and it felt like I was flying... if that counts for any relevance towards the room.

If you could, please leave your comments and discussion regarding the soundtrack in that thread.
What?!
Did i already say this hack looks rockin' excellent? Oh, that was on CH's topic. \o/ Keep the good work up!

I'd bet you play it on PS. Try it on your PC and your eyes will really get bad.

That's awesome!

I remember that pic of Samus that said Eris underneath, strange coincidence. I wonder what was meant by it, maybe it was personifying her.
