I have found it quite frustrating to download the Quicktime Plug-in.  Maybe you could make all the site videos work with most video plug-ins?

No.  I think that you should allow both the majority and minority to view it instead of what you said.

Indeed. And if you don't want to download Quicktime, there's a lot of alternative codecs and plugins out there to play Quicktime files.

In the time taken to complain, you could've downloaded quicktime 6 by now (halfway if you are on 56k).  It's free, and even I figured out how to use it.

The time it would take to duplicate every video, redesign the pages, and increase the amount of Nate's bandwidth really wouldn't be worth his time/$.  You lose out, but that's your call.

It probably takes more effort out of Nate to make all the vids available for the minorities than it does for the minorities to download Quicktime.  If you're too lazy to download something, don't complain about it to others.

there was a discussion about this very recently somewhere ... maybe yoshi remembers where it happened. anyway, the consensus was that quicktime is still the best way to do this. it's not that it rules or anything, it's just there by default. until someone comes up with a better way to do it, it will remain quicktime. (and imagine redoing all those videos ...)

It's actually pretty difficult for me, considering that, in real life, I am the kind of person who will laugh at any random stranger I see in public, or even people I know. It's all in fun, though.

Y'know, this whole thing kinda confuses me.  The vids on the site are MPEGs or MPEG-4s, so if you bypass the QuickTime object and just open the vid in the site window, it should work in almost ANY media player.  It's just Nate's fancy coding that makes other players go awry. 

@Razorflame: geez, you go out and protest about QuickTime just for the heck of it, do you know how many people actually use QuickTime?  How many more filetypes it supports than ANY other media player?  How easy it is to download and install?  And do you know how HARD it is to convert 100+ vids and/or web coding to fit one request from one person?  Also, if you don't want to be a part of the forum anymore, just go away, you don't have to be banned to leave.  I'm not saying you should do this, but since the mods won't ban you, that is another option.
