Hm, maybe that does make a big difference.  The only fully 3D game I've completed is Ocarina, I think.  Of course, I wasn't a kid when I started playing games semi-regularly, but equally of course the games I did play as a kid were 2D.  Things might be a lot different if I didn't have such a tendency toward motion sickness...but I might not have that problem if I'd been playing 3D games from childhood.

Still, though, my big interest is in how glitches reveal how the games are programmed, and I think I have an easier time following that in 2D.  I've plowed through that giant Ocarina thread at SDA but I know I'm not following much of it beyond "only these flags are needed to trigger this event".  With this, I can at least look at it and think "Oh, morphball must fall more slowly than non-morph...wait, didn't we know that from Sess's demo when he was using missiles on Space Pirates in SRX?  How clever to apply it this way."
Time bomb set get out fast!
Huh!  We did know that, didn't we?  One more reason it's amazing that no one thought of this before.  (Though I guess someone might have thought of it and not been able to pull it off.  I for one suck at midair morphing.)

My favourite thing about this discovery is that suddenly everything we knew only from ARs has become "legitimate."  We know that fighting the bosses out of order doesn't work because we can do it and it doesn't work.  To me, that's a huge difference from knowing it wouldn't work through outside means.
So... who's up for hacking the Fusion rom to allow this trick to be exploited? :)

I think it's been done already.

No, I didn't give up on the community. People should stop assuming that.

I can't get them on this computer. Could you put 'em on youtube? And IF I'm reading this right, does it mean we've finally got to early nettori legit? And if so, does this mean we can get out of TRO first visit early, so we can see the Target eradicated' legit too? Oh and BTW when I use an AR code for an item, it's boss disappears. Any way to fix this?
I guess you could consider all that legit, but you can still only do this on an emulator. You cant get out of TRO early, though.

Why is this only possible on an emu? The video link on first post doesn't work.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
Same reason as 0%

It ain't humanly possible
red chamber dream
Well, it might be.
Even if someone manages to do it in realtime, it would be too slow for any practical use, I think.

Why is the good stuff only possible on emu? It sucks.
same thing as asking why there is poverty or death imo. just the way it is.
Hmm.. Some dudes created a robot that pushed a key as a function every noted frame, and thus it was able to complete the level 1-1 in SMB1.

Perhaps we could build a MF bot?
Heh. I think if we had robots to do that, we should just make it jump extend really fast rather than morphing. Might be easier.
I think it's easier to make a TAS instead.
But this is on the actual console in real time, right? Anyways, I agree with moozooh. :P

Exactly.
I'll try to find the link to the SMB robot now. Just a minute.
EDIT: http://community.middlebury.edu/~tdooley/
I think Lego Mindstorms would work. Especially with that new NXT or whatever out.

While it'd be no speedrun, it would be tool-assisted...
Because as we all know, programming a robot to play would be a proper speedrun.

Ready and willing.

XD
Heh. It looks like they used them for the SMB bot or whatever. It probably would look/work like crap if someone actually built one.

I'm XDing because it's not like they actually build a physical robot and have it operate the keyboard. That's just silly. Although it's technically not a robot, here they're talking about a program to provide the input for the tas.
yeah

No, I am not back. I doubt I'll ever be. It's not as much the community's fault as it is Nate's. But that is not the reason I am posting. I have a dedication to the community that runs deeper than any vendetta.

So here it is. Perhaps the last big thing in Fusion. I hope you like it. If so, think fondly. If not, I hate you. But I probably hate you anyways.

I might be back; I might not. But it will never again be a social call.

Edit: Forgot what date it was. This is not a joke.

The link doesn't work, what exactly is the movie of?

P.S. I know the answer might be somewhere in this topic, but I'm too lazy to go through 75 posts.  grin new

Edit: Actually, this topic isn't that big. But I can guarantee the answer isn't here. I can't view AVI's since I don't have the latest version of Quicktime. And I'm not getting it since you (most likely) have to pay. If anyone can clear that up it would be great.
It is of a single wall jump in the large vertical room near zazabi. He goes up the right wall with a combination of wall jumping and morphing, and this can only be done using tools, like an emulator. Its not too useful actually, except for maybe a few spots in a tas.
