i alwasy liked playing as samus, she was who i first completed all 3 single player modes with first, and is always who i choose first in multiplayer (my friends are always like 'crap, we're dead' when i choose samus, not that im that good, we're all equal skill level but i can dominate with samus  :P )
Quote from Phoenix:
Of course any character can beat any character, if on player is better than the other. I've never said otherwise.

AI players don't use every move and trick available to them in the right way, even at level 9, so pitting two computers against each other isn't a good way to compare either.

Level 9 players are stupid anyway. Play against Ness at level 9 on Jungle Japes and watch him commit suicide within a few seconds as long as you don't move.

yeah that's why I said "if you could make 2 comps 100% even"

I mean It might be possible...in theory... to calculate what's best character...but not with today's technology.

but with players there's no 2 samekind of people in the world...

so If you could have much people with about same skill and using different characters you could have overall rating by the best character. I believe that.

overal.
not exact.

and they'd jump up and down as people testing changes...
exept if some character was very overpowered or very bad.

thinking again yeah you could calculate it, but I doubt it's very accurate.
just one thing for people to argue with...
"unfair you have better character"  Rolling Eyes

ps. hehe yeah donkey kong also jumps to that river  :D
comp can't match human, bwhahaha!

...maybe after few thousand years?
There's no need for there to be two equal skill players. One can simply assume that there is. No one has ever argued otherwise. The tierlist's very definition is "assuming the two players are of equal skill and there is no items involved, this is the ranking of the available characters".
I haven't played the game yet, it's for GCN, right?

Hehehe, you must be mighty confused right now.

Played the original?
If it helps any, I have only had 2 game consoles, a Sega Genesis and a GCN. I haven't played any of them

I pity you...

Why don't you play your GCN anyway?  And "either" is a better word than "any" when you're talking about two things.

Yeah, i'm going to let my state-of-the-art Gamecube sit next to my TV and collect dust Rolling Eyes . I play on it 'cause my mom spent $100 on it for her 14-year-old son for Christmas.

Gimme a break, I thought there were more than 2 of them.

Izo, I think he was talking about the SSB series, not his consoles.

My god, Yoshi's actually right.

And addict, the *gets lynched* comment was to show I was perfectly aware that the pedantic nature of my comment would inspire hostility in others.

Ooh!  Ooh!  "Pedantic" means in an instructive or teaching manner!  Yes!  I learned somehing from AP Eng 3!  Even though I didn't get the 5 on the AP test!  Woo!

Is this sudden tidal wave of rampant off-topicness my doing?

I return to find that this topic is still in the Most Active list!  Hee.  Doesn't really matter, anyway, but...  Yeah.
If I was still a mod, I would sooooo bite my thumb at you.

Eh, just kidding.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Do you bite your thumb at us, sir?

I do bite my thumb, sir.
I don't get it...

So, why was this topic resurrected? (By the way, Samus is my best character in Smash Bros/Melee if anyone cares now.)

Why do you still have a title?

Back on the topic:

I personally rarely, if ever, use Samus in SSB/SSBM. My favorites for each game, if anyone's interestered, are:

SSB: Pikamonster, and Kirby
SSBM: Sheik (not Zelda), Foxy, and Marth

Least favorites:

SSB: Samus, and Jiggly
SSBM: Peach, Samus, Yoshi (no offence to Yoshi), and Ice Climbers

If that's in regards to the "biting thumbs" thing, it's an insult that, while outdated now, is still around due to being in Romeo and Juliet.  I believe it was in the first scene, when the two houses' servants met in the streets.

If it's about why this topic's back up here, your guess is as good as mine.  I didn't realize that this was an old thread when I saw it at the top, and thought that there was a 7+ page thread that appeared while I was in class.

I think all the people who were mods at one time still have their titles, regardless of whether or not they're mods anymore or not.

My guess is he assumed the Most Active list meant Most Recently Active. Which is a fair assumption, which is why I didn't go aggro on him.  :P

And I even read that a couple of years back...

But anyway, I was thinking about Smash Bros earlier today (No clue why I was) but something occurred to me: If they ever made another one of these (I think that's a good possibility, perhaps for the "Revolution") one of the characters that would be cool to add is Dark Samus.

I know, most of us hated the whole "Copy another character for most of the hidden ones" but perhaps it wouldn't have to be that way: I took some time to think about it, and I came up with some interesting moves that DS could have:

*Spoiler Tag added due to move names

- The spineshark-like thing (Up and B)
- A phazon-shotgun style blast (Just B)
- The "bubble", for shielding/attacking (With the large phazon blast) perhaps (Direction and B)
- A big explosion of phazon, like when you get too close to her in the final battle (Down and B)

Not sure what you guys think of that, but it was just something I was randomly thinking about this morning. I think it would make for an awesome character, since they only have one character from Metroid in the previous versions of the game.

Now, if they could only make unique character designs/moves in the next one and not copy others...
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Ridley's due to be a character.
Viking
Precursor
You know who should be a character?

Viewtiful Joe.

He would fit PERFECTLY in Smash Bros.

Moves:
B - Slow Punch
Smash B - Voomerang
Up + B - Uh, whatever it's named... Zoom Jump
Down + B - Slide if on the ground, Redhot Kick if in the air
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Too bad he has that whole "owned by Capcom" thing.
