I removed them, but for now and on im using a different tool, the Rebuilder crashes/throws an exception a lot. I'm using the GC ISO Tool extracting the ISO to GCReEx format and repacking with the same tool works much better for me download link http://www.wiibackupmanager.co.uk/gcit.html
if i use that instead, would i have to restart the entire process again?
I suppose the extraction and repack process yes, since you can keep the paks and copy over the new extraction
i'm guessing you save the iso as "full sized" and not "trimmed"?
Exactly, probably I shoud have mentioned it

I put together some scripts just for ease of use, which I've attached. Just put in the ISO in the root and name it "mp.iso". Running "Extract_Game.bat" extracts the iso into its directory, which only needs to be run once. From there, just run "Randomizer.bat" and wait for the process will finish. It will spit out "randomized_mp.iso", which you can then move wherever!

Thanks to Miles and Parax for this awesome tool!

i'll give it a try with that process to see how it turns out.

i spent all night doing other things so i'm now tackling the process. i needed to find an extra SD card and a program to load the game on wii since the methods i use won't work with this (Devolution requires the games to be verified with real copies and you can't verify this with a game disc)

There's another loader still in development called Nintendont that does not require the disc check. Metroid Prime is fully compatible with it by now.

edit: All of the Wii USB Loaders also support running Gamecube games through it, too.

i see. i'm in the process of setting up for nintendon't.

i didn't want to put dios mios on my wii since i use many games from disc so i was rolling with devolution only for a long time but now i've got the nintendon't stuff set up.

Yeah it's not DIOS MIOS which is pretty nice, just like Devolution. Also means it works on Wii U, unlike DIOS MIOS.

yep. i was aiming to play it on wii u since it's gonna be more interesting. i also want to confirm it works on it since parax and miles used a regular wii already and there's gonna be people asking if it works properly on wii u.
Where do I get an ISO of metroid prime

Right here! :D
I guess I should clarify.  I read the directions in the "how to use the randomizer" and step 1 says:  "Get an ISO of the NTSC version of Metroid Prime"
I'm not entirely sure what that means

use google or rip your own disc.

i'm having a problem. i tried to generate an iso with the scripts but the iso doesn't open with either dolphin or on console.

i don't know what might be the problem. do you need to have soemthing else installed? also, does it work with windows 7?

having the same problem. tried it in dolphin and got "[iso] is an invalid gcm/iso file or is not a gc/wii iso."

has anybody gotten the randomizer to work?

I actually don't have access to the Wii right now, so I just made that to compile the apps the Paraxade posted. It is possible that it's just not working with homebrew loaders right now.

Honestly I think all the issues you guys are having is because the ISO's being ripped improperly. I had some issues in the past where the &&systemdata folder was not ripped correctly, so I had to replace some files in there to get it to work properly. Lemme try to look into how to rip the files correctly.

This is definitely making me want to make my own ISO ripping/rebuilding tool at some point. Having to rely on third party stuff like this sucks. Would be even nicer if we made something that just edits the ISO directly without needing to be unpacked in the first place somehow...

I realize this has been a kind of clunky release so apologies for that. The setup required at the moment really isn't ideal but it's about the best we can do right now.

Okay, so I think I have a solution now. The problem with GC Rebuilder is it does not rip files to the &&systemdata folder correctly. You'll notice that AppLoader.ldr and Start.dol are each 0 Kb, which is completely wrong; this is why it's screwing up when you try to reopen the disc image.

You can get the correct AppLoader file from another rip - Dolphin and reka's scripts both dump out the AppLoader correctly, so replace it with that. Replace Start.dol with the dol in the root directory, default.dol. It's the same file.

After that GC Rebuilder should be able to open up the dumped folder without crashing. For some reason I get issues related to game.toc in the rebuilding process; however you can enable Options --> Do not use 'game.toc', and then it should work fine. (If that option is greyed out, close whatever iso or folder you have open first.) The rebuilding process will probably take longer unless you delete all the extracted folders, though.

so delete start.dol and cut/paste the default.dol there instead? it's called main.dol with rekameoh's method.

the five extracted folders as well as the five text files that were created?

also do you have to randomize and repack the folders back into the paks again or can you just make those changes then rebuild?

Yes, and rename the copied version to Start.dol.

Mostly the extracted folders. The .toc file tells it which files are supposed to go on the disk. If you don't use the .toc file, then it'll rebuild everything in the folder, including the extracted files. This might not actually cause any problems so the extra time rebuilding might not be worth the extra time unpacking the paks again later on.

If you've already repacked the paks then no, you don't need to do it again. In fact so long as you don't delete your folder you won't have to touch the &&systemdata folder ever again; should be able to get it working by just following the instructions in the readme included with the randomizer from now on.

Lemme know if you guys are able to get it working now.

Let's simplify this a little bit - I'm attaching the correct &&systemdata files to this post. game.toc should work correctly with this as well, I think. I haven't included Start.dol because that's actually the game's main executable file so I'm a bit hesitant to directly distribute it, but if you've ripped your disk image then you already have it; it's the same file as default.dol. Replace Start.dol with a copy of default.dol (don't delete the original).
