Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I think I get what you are saying.  You're talking about out-of-bounds travel.  There's a detailed page by Kejardon on it here.

I can't see it making a difference, however as when you touch a door tile, and trigger the transition, the game has set properties attached to the door, detailing where it spits you out.  This means that no matter where you were in relation to your Room B, when you touch the door transition tiles, it'll spit you out of the same door in Room M.  The only way to get to Botwoon's door would be from the only door linked to it (the room on the other side of it), which you can't get to for obvious reasons.

Hope that makes sense. Think
That's another site I can't access lol

I think I will test it more and yes I realize how the doors work outside of the rooms. I am sure I can get enough info from that link, but since I can't access it I can't. I feel as though you may be able to get above the room instead of below it. I'd like to test the right side of Room B but since there is no platform, all I can do is get stuck in the door. Perhaps I'll try crystal flashing.

Just trying to help here is all. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Ok, I finally found how to get inside of the room right of the mocktroids. I told you I'd find a way lol =)

This is how I recall doing it. I used the speed booster the entire time so I don't know for sure if you don't need it, most likely you won't. Fun doing this without the cheats >.>

So, go to the room below and x-ray up the left side. Fall in the back of the door to the right, a few steps. Fall all the way down and run right, you should be under the mocktroid room and can see the room itself. Keep going until you reach a fully flat area. Once you pass this spot, you will find an area full of glitch spots. It isn't long but once you get past that, you should be on top of the room and the roof is gone. Just get to the other side of the room where the door should be and use an angle with a missle/sm to open the door.

You can probably do this earlier than having to open the door by having a part of the door exist and just jump on top of it. You have to circle the entire map like 2 1/2 times, which is around 100-200 maps.

I did find something else to enter the back door, but I haven't made it there yet. I don't know if I am going to mess with it anymore and you might need to bomb jump to even get to the right warp. Starting in the room to the left of the pre-plasma room, x-ray the top left door.

IIRC, running all the way right will get you stuck in the right room. Once you reach that warp, go on the right side of it and walk in it, I believe this is the same one. I usually shine spark with 8-9 E-Tanks to get there from the beginning. If you do this, you will immediately fall into a door that leads to the room just before the exit of Draygon. Most likely you will either be stuck or be in the room.

The best thing I can say here is to find a way to get to the far left side of the room on the outside of it. Meaning, no x-ray climbing. Just already outside of it. I've only managed to get stuck in the walls myself but you should be able to find another warp to the other side of the room. You can also most likely get to this room x-ray climing the pre-plasma room.

This being said, I'll mention a couple other rooms I tried. Outside the x-ray room, once you climb up, there is a door on the second screen up behind you to exit. The best thing I can say to try, I can't because I don't know how to horizontal bomb jump, is to do so at the very top of the door entry and hope you manage to slip by at least a few pixels. I say this because of the speed of the bump from the bombs. You can leave this place with a horizontal shine spark if you aim it right. Since we can't do that, this is your best bet.

I've been searching the top of the corridor next to the MB room. It might be possible if you can manage to delete most of the room that is "shown" and fall on the door from the outside. So it could be feasible to get a 6% run if you can manage to exit the x-ray room as well as use this possible junction. Don't feel like testing this anymore, but I see potential. I've tried all the other rooms and I can't manage to leave other rooms without either being in a multiple or just being stuck.

You mean that you got into Botwoon's room?

It'd also be a million times easier if you attached vids or .smv files.

Sorry. I'll do that later. But yeah, I can get into Botwoon's room. I'll try again without using the speed booster so you can check it out. Just fyi, all you do is run right for a looong time until you know you are actually in the room. Also, I hope my phone can actually upload the vid or smv. Probably going to use a video though.

The way I see it is, if you are actually on the map, as in not all the way outside above the map... Imagine the room you are seeing by itself. If you run right, from what I gather, you go higher on the map. So essentially, I started below it and wrapped around 2-4 times until I was above it. This is just a theory mind you. If you are outside the map, you will just end up in a corridor that gets smaller and smaller.

Also, you know those doors just before the statue room leading to the gravity suit? The ones that are just for looks. They actually lead to the right and left side of the bottom of this map I found out. Doubt it's usable, but they do lead someplace.

I know they do.  I drew them for you on the map in the other thread. Neutral

I only looked at Maridia lol I'll grab it later. I think I'll look into finding a backdoor to bypass Botwoon. I have a feeling this would be quicker in the long run if the spots are close together.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Where did you actually come out in Botwoon's room?  Through the door as normal?  If so, it'll confirm what I said about the transitions, and since the only connection to all of those rooms past Botwoon is through his room, I doubt that it will be very easy to get to them without first going through his room anyway.

That's not true.. I just found a way to the backdoor, with the plants. I believe all those doors are blue so that will work. Not to mention it is a lot quicker. As far as getting there without the space jump, I am sure you can by bomb jumping up like 7-10 screens. This I will probably have to make a video for. I'll explain it anyway. Btw, if I don't happen to find one, can I get a link to how to make videos? I tried the ZSNES one and if I end up in a door and reload, it stays there. I am guessing I have to append? I'll be using the snesx9 one though, 1.51 or whatever, the most recent version I believe.

Anyhow, just a brief explanation on the back door but also, going into botwoons room normally. I explained it wrong. You have to do what I said, then at the end, you fall into a pit and have to redo the area again to get to a point where you can enter the room and not get stuck. Also, yes, you are in botwoons room physically through the actual door. I suggest jumping to the ceiling before moving and power bombing the blocked spots before doing so, if you plan to. Also it's easier to enter if the door is shut before entering.

The back door:
x-ray climb the room to the left of the pre-plasma room. Run right and jump over some duplicate rooms until you reach the area that is at the same level as you started, 3 screens from the right of the edge of the map. Go behind the warp and walk into it. The door is on the bottom right of the screen. You will fall onto a platform most likely.

Now. The place you want to go from here is 2 squares from the right side of the pre-mocktroid room lined up directly with the door in the right side of said room. The room to the right that I am mentioning is the dead end with some bugs flying out of the ground. On the bottom right side of the room is a small platform with a door to the left. Jump into it. It warps to the small room on the bottom right of the pre-plasma room, then immediately warps again into the back door.

Like I said, I'll try and record this for you but it's harder for me since I don't have the internet.

I mean no offence, but the descriptions are borderline impossible to follow.  Vids will help loads. Razz

Yes, you'll want to use snes9x to record your videos.  Basically, you load the ROM, get to where you want to start recording from, select File > Movie > Record New Movie, name it, and click OK.  Now you want to save state.  Movie save states are separate from gameplay save states.  You can then reload as often as you need.  It would also likely be worth downloading a separate version of snes9x, and linking us to the version you're using.  The majority of people use this version for recording movies.

I'll just link the one I have, that I recall. If it's wrong, I'll just download a new one, which means it will be an extra day to get the smv up. You don't have to use this link if you don't want to. My work computer is blocking the official site so I can't get a direct link.

I'm sure I'll figure this out but, if you load state will the video act as if you didn't or is this movie maker different from zsnes in that manner?

Oh, I also don't know if I mentioned this. You can in fact get the spring ball with x-ray climbing. Now this I shouldn't have to record, it is beyond simple to understand. The room to the left of the freeze the blob to go through the floor to the spring ball. X-Ray climb the left door until you reach the top room midway. You can fall out of the wall at this point.

Once I get home, I am going to find out how to get most of the items you supposedly can't get. I know you can get a lot of those. The one in the room of maridia center, shine spark for missle, I don't know about that one but I'm sure I can find a way. I have a feeling it means a lot of room running. That or you will just end up in a tunnel or some shit.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Are you talking specifically about a No Norfair run, or just item acquisition in general?

If you're after all items, then you may be better off focusing on a No Boss / Miniboss run, which has the highest collection rate at something like 90%.

As for 'movie making', all emulators work in the same way, in that they are just a list of what buttons you pushed on which frames.  Each emulator uses its own file formats, but they all work the same way.

I am talking about the items that have to do with a No Norfair run. Not sure why I would claim something else if I am posting here...? Anyhow... I have SMV files for all items and areas except the missle in the middle of the Maridia room. It's just a matter of getting my wifi to work here... Once it does, I'll post it.

Just fyi, it is a picture with a zip file inside of it. Just open it with winrar or 7zip and you will find the archive. I have no choice as my phone doesn't recognize files. I also included the emulator I am using so people don't have to download something that may not work.

I included 2 versions of the Draygon backdoor. I am not entirely sure what triggered it exactly. I know that if you load a save from the savepoint below the pipe room, this area is a jumbled mess and you don't want to go in here. I think it may have been a combination of things so I can't really say for sure.

Also note: I didn't make these perfect. I am using a keyboard and not a controller so that's why my movements aren't so great. In the alternate draygon exit, I re-equip my items because I fell where I wasn't supposed to go and got back where I was. Each area I am doing without the help of these items. I may have used it to get the reserve tank, but there were no breaking blocks in the process if I did. You could also alternatively climb the upper room unlike myself. I forgot that room existed.

EDIT:Looks like the Library's wifi is down. I can probably still get it up by tonight.
Found a hotspots near my house. Just open it like a zip file.

I'm simply saying that you should consider ignoring the Norfair part, and going for the NBMB record.  Since you're happy to experiment with the X-ray so much, it might be worth seeing just how much you can get for the whole game, ignoring this run.  With enough experimentation, you may be able to get everything. aiwebs_004
I'm trying out passing crocomire ATM and also kraid. Unfortunately both force you in front of them no matter where you are. Best thing I can do is find a way to create garbage in the ceiling of kraids room and find some way of bypassing crocomire. I feel as if I've found a way before. A lot of the stuff I AK doing feels like I've done it before.
What'd you say?
I agree, you should go for the NBMB record, I'd love to see it.
Perhaps if I manage to find more than just skipping botwoon.
What'd you say?
Skipping Botwoon himself, wouldn't that allow you to break the record already?
Yeah but I don't find that breaking the record personally. If I can't do it by a longshot, I don't consider it. Especially since it's so easy to accomplish. I'm getting closer to the crocomire room to pass it. I'm two rooms away so far. Unfortunately, I can only find an exit leading backwards, inside the room before it, or at the door on the far left before it.
What'd you say?
Keep working at it man. I love the fact that this game is still being broken and new discoveries are being made.
Hell yeah. I've actually got a grasp on how the outsides work. It's definitely different than what I've been told. For instance, almost 100% of the time if you go up 13+ maps or go off the map, it's a dead end. Most every time exiting a map immediately, you end up where you can find a bunch of portals and garbage. All the portals lead somewhere nearby and sometimes really far. Such as with the pre-botwoon skip. You can go all the way to the save room/elevator entrance on the top middle from this first room, which is like 4 rooms skipped. I believe most of there reason the skip is possible this way is because of the hidden door that leads to the right of the room.

If you want to keep moving room to room, you have to find a warp that drops you after you enter it. I mean, you aren't stuck in the wall or inside the room. Usually, you will end up finding the room you are looking at within this area. Then it's just a matter of finding the backside of the door and hoping it leads outside the room again. A lot of doors also freeze you.

Another thing is, depending on where you load your game from can change the outcome. Such as again, the first room with botwoon. If you load under the glass tube, the outside of this place is a mess and usually isn't possible to navigate.
Another note. Unfortunately, it seems near impossible to backdoor draygon's room. I also highly doubt I can re-exit the place. Item rooms, save rooms and recharge rooms haven't panned out for me thus far.
Just backdoored crocomire. Now I just gotta do it while it's alive and find my way out. Ill post an SMV later for 1.43.
