Beat my old normal any% time. It's 0:35:14 now. It was a single segment run, so I could probably shave off a few seconds due to mistakes, especially with me failing with the Mothership Escape Shinespark. >.<

29:09 any% Single Segment

I lost perhaps 12 seconds in Chozodia, but I would have gotten the record easily anyway if it wasn't for Tourian. My Tourian run was absolutely heartbreaking. My times were as follows:

5:29 at Norfair1
8:43 at Ridley
13:01 before fighting Kraid
15:11 at the start of Tourian (my biggest mistake was that I whiffed the second to last spark in Kraid... somehow)
16:40 at the end of Tourian (the start of the downfall...)
17:53 after beating MB

I had gotten 2 usable super refills, but other than that I got hit by a Metroid (and it was basically unavoidable), but it wasn't so bad as not getting supers which meant I had 15/0 before the Zebitites and MB. You could probably imagine what happens next. -_-

I also got a perfect suit buss fight and the escape spark went flawlessly. Chozodia wasn't amazing other than that, but still...

Anyway, because I'm really bad at both the first segment and the second, I haven't been able to beat that 5:36 just yet.

So I continued with the 5:36 and got 8:58. I think I can still do better, but haven't been able to yet. ;(

I am doing a 9% run on Normal for fun. My times so far are 5:30 in Norfair1, and then 6:46 in Norfair2 (right before fighting Imago Cocoon). I am aiming for sub 41, but hopefully I can get sub 40 (though I am currently not sure exactly what times I need to aim for that). These times aren't the best possible, but I want to finish this ideally in the next day or so, so my segments won't be perfect or anything.

I now have 8:36 at Ridley, but the Ridley battle itself is tricky to get perfect. I think maybe I need luck to do well? I think Master-88 has 10:46 at the end, and my best is awful by comparison (10:41, but I start out 25 seconds faster so...).

My brother wanted to play, so I let him use that file. Anyway, I got 5:31/6:47/8:33 instead. I just got 10:20 after Ridley with 3 Missiles and 99 health. I could probably do a little better, but I don't really feel like it's worth it right now.

Hm...

Thanks to Sam's advice, I've decided to save right before Kraid. This means I can perfect the next part and the more important part is that I can get the 3rd Super Missile right after Kraid.

I'll be going into Tourian with 40/6. Let's see how that'll go.

Anyway, so far, I've gotten 13:21 at the save before Kraid. I don't know how much faster I can go, but I should at least sub :20 before continueing on. I'm hoping for like :18 or :17 or something. Ridley just has to cooperate with giving me enoough missiles and Supers and the rest just has to go 'perfect'.

I finally learned the faster AWS now though, I was unable to get it, but I finally found out how to do it consistently. ^_^

Kinda wondering what I can get at Tourian. Maybe 15:4X or something? I have no idea.

It seems that Thomas is getting ever closer to sub transience with 15:45 in Tourian, but he can get 15:37 if he tries. Me? I am getting closer to giving up entirely with a 16:18 save at the end of Tourian because my two SPs died in 3 days. -_-

Yeah, I got 15:37 and decided to continue on.

Getting the Metroids to cooperate is whole another story though. -_-

Well, I've gotten some nice times: 1:14 and 1:16, but not with the needed amount of missiles, so basically only a benchmark or something.

Final metroid didn't give me the Supers I needed/wanted.

Actually, I'm really not going lower then 1:16.

Anyway, I feel really disheartening right now.

I was doing single segment any% I was doing really really well, aside from horrible rinka luck, but I died at the last Black pirates. >__<

Like, I use these "times" I have at certain places as markers for how I'm doing:

1) Past Hive Room, I had 1:58, which was decent, considering I had a 3HKO + spikes Charge Beamst battle and also needed to refill on a crawler I like to refill on above the door leading to the Hive room;

2) Elevator leading to Norfair, I had 3:46 or so I think? Rather bad actually, but meh, moving on;

3) Segmented Norfair 1 save, I had 5:46, which was okay, not good, not bad;

4) Elevator leading to Ridley, I had 7:46 (notice a trend? :P), which is decent, considering my best segmented time there is 7:30;

5) Segmented Ridley save, I had 9:06, which is also decent, considering I saved at 8:58 in my segmented run (it also means I somehow lost 8 seconds in my segmented run? o_O);

6) Elevator leading to Kraid, I had 12:00 I think? That's about 36 seconds behind my best, but I messed up quite a bit in that part (and other things went pretty well, including my new way of going to the first morph ball cannon);

7) Segmented Tourian save, I had 16:0X I think? It becomes vague here, but it was decent. I fell down during AWS (jumping to the first platform, not the AWS itself), but got a perfect Super Missile collecting;

8) Segmented Tourian 2 save, I had a bit of random luck in Tourian itself, got no Supers at the start, but got them later on, I forgot the time I had here, but I didn't have a lot of missiles. Refilling was BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADD. That sucked so much, I easily lost about 40 extra seconds here;

9) Ship during Escape, I had 19:00 I think? Somehow did some things pretty well, because my best time leaving is 18:10 (but I can do better);

10) I got the Map data on accident, healed up and missed a few jumps, I had 24:00 at the pre Chozo Boss save. My best is 22:42, but that's only because I always screw up Suitless after I get an amazing MB + escape. So technically, I'm about 90 seconds behind;

From this point on, I stopped checking. I made a few mistakes, but they weren't horrible (though I would've been dead had I done segmented lol, yay for extra E-Tank), beat Iron Ted cleanly, got the shinespark on the first try (saved the spark at exactly half of the block), then proceeded to totally screw up at the Black pirates and the regular one that I didn't shoot and died a horrible death.

Thomaz and I have been doing races against one another. It's a lot of fun, but since I haven't played in a little while I am rusty. I failed a run, my gamecube died on me (... this is amazing, everything likes breaking on me) on a sub 30 run, and I got 31:01 recently. Hopefully I am back in shape by the end of the week. I'm going to buy an Haupage HD PVR soon. That should be enough for SDA's quality standards at least.

Just now, I got 30:59 in SS any% (26%) which beats my own SS record with like 3 minutes or so lol.

And with my current save (not optimised yet), I also did a run and got 29:38. Nice, because I finally got sub 30, but I made a horrible mistake by not keeping my Spark during the escape. Had to go through the room the slow way. Probably 40 seconds lost. >_< Also had a bad Iron Ted fight and a few other mistakes (Chozo Ghost battle was good though).

I should definitely be able to sub transience after a bit.

^^ is helmetless Samus? Anyway, Easy, 100, 'bout 5 hours, first beat. Most of the time was me being scared of Tourian. But I eventually got my courage and decided, huh, this is easy. *Metroid latches onto me* Ah, gerroffme, gerroffme! *lays Bombs a lot* It was on my good ol' SP. Glad it was, too. It would've been harder to hide from my parents if it were on my computer! I died like twice. Once during Mother Brain, once during the early Varia. Stupid acid, killing me. Oh, and I know I'm a noob, but I can help here. I'm getting my parents to get me a Super Metroid emulator.

I suppose I'll mention that I did a segmented 53:23 100% run, and the last segment was bad enough that I could likely get a very high 52:xx off of this save file. I didn't delay getting the long beam (which wastes some 15-20 seconds, I think) and the run wasn't exactly perfect. I suspect a high 51:xx is indeed possible on console, although I won't get around to trying it for a while. I also want to complete a satisfactory 100% SS run first.

What would your aim be for SS 100%?

I'm currently working on 100% segmented myself. It's going alright I guess, for a "serious" run (I wouldn't call my 59:53 a serious run. XD). I'm saved at 29:16 in Tourian end right now, but I know I can push it below :15. I've even gotten 29:12 but with not enough Supers (and one time I would have the same time but accidently fired Supers instead of regulars. :X).

I'd probably aim for about 53:30 for a SS. Based on the 100% SS runs I've done so far, 53:30 seems reasonable and realistic.
