I haven't beaten the game yet(fixing to fight chykka) but I'de like to know just how much all the reviews are lying(they always do, 20+hours?psh.) This ain't a speed contest or anything, I just want to know. (Maybe it's just cause all the reviewers suck really bad?)

I'm nearing 2 hours at probably 10%

Mostly cuz I'm enjoying the lookaround and whole feel of the game.

The thing with the players on this site is that since everybody is so in to speed runs it kinda makes time such an issue, which is a shame cuz I enjoy a game when I don't feel rushed in it. Otherwise, I wouldn't be swinging through Spider-Man2 for hours doing nothing at all

I'm currently maybe 6-7 hours in, with 40ish% of the scans, and like 20-30% items. I've been taking my time and scanning pretty much everything though.

damn right. i for one will be taking my sweet time with this game when it's finally released over here (the 26th for the pal release iirc)
its the same with HL2. everyone seems to have the game finished already and i haven't even got the damn thing yet... i just don't see the point in rushing through a game in 1-2 days when you could stretch out the enjoyment to over a week

Just finished the game a bit earlier today:

You guys are too good for me. If it's worth anything, I didn't use the hint system though, and enjoyed getting lost for several hours at a time at some points.

The reviews are definitely strange with the claim that the game easily lasts over 20 hours. I figure I'd have taken at least 10 hours less with the hint system.

Now I need to start over and unlock the rest of the stuff (or try to).

I used the hint system twice (3 times really but I didn't search at all, just said screw it I didn't want to look for the last key). Remember, that's your game time, not your real play time. If I didn't play Prime repeatedly before Echoes, I definitely would have gotten like 30 hours or so. In all truth, you are better than most of us, Kip ;).

Question for you folk, how many missiles and tanks are in this.

Same for the Beam ammo, since I haven't gotten an ammo upgrade yet, I don't even know by how much they go up.

Also, are beam ammunition supposed to be so scarce?

To get additional beam ammo, you shoot the boxes with the opposite beam. I had trouble until I figured this out.

I believe there are 49 Missile Expansions and 4 Beam Ammo Expansions, and Tim says there's 8 Power Bomb expansions.

You just shoot crates with either the Light or Dark Beam, and you will get the opposite kind of ammo. But, ammo doesn't always appear, so you wasted some of the ammo of the Beam you shot the crate with. You can also get ammo from enemies, mainly those "stalagmite tentacles" in Dark Aether, by killing them with the Light or Dark Beam. It is pretty scarce though, I think, so you have to be careful not to waste it. I don't think that Retro did a good job with the ammo system at all...I mean, it should be common to find, and you shouldn't have to sacrfice ammo from one beam to get ammo for the other.


Maybe that didn't really need the spoiler tags, but oh well.

Nah, ammo's easy to come by.  More often then not, the crates will drop a bunch.  If it doesn't, well, whatever, you only wasted a total of one shot.

I'm glad that you can still use the beam even without any ammo... granted you have to charge up for a normal shot, but you can still use it  :P

Just finished.
96% scans (missed some research and one lore)

and for those of you who doubt the '20+ hour' time, that's real time. the first day I played the game I played for 11 hours straight. My save time at the end of that was 5:37 because of all the time reading scans and checking the map, cutscenes etc.

I hope I don't mess anything up..100% scans is really boring/tedious to get.

I doubt it's limited... I probably just missed it. most likely it was one you see before you get a translation update and then I never passed through that room again.

I'm trying to get 100% scans the first time through, but I didn't on the first Prime, and I probably won't on Echoes. After the first time through though, I just use a guide to find all the scans. I don't bother actually looking for them because, yeah, it is really boring.

And I don't think there is many one-time scans in this game at all, which is nice.

I just finished this morning and had 63% in 12:48  without hint system.... except I used it once  after I was lost for about in hour I turned it on and it told me to go to the bog for power bombs... and i did  :P  oh and like 42% scans :P

Yeah I suck.  Likely would have been 30+ hours without the help of people when I was wandering around for 1+ hour not knowing what I needed to do.

Same here, The hint system doesnt kick in until you reach the general area of where you really need to be, so you can be wandering for hours on end looking for something to do. ITS DRIVING ME MAD Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
