Oh wow, the fused Chozo statues creep me out. Shocked What the heck is up with those?

EDIT: I like the way this game flows. The main items lead to each other, with the path to the next one starting near the previous, instead of having to backtrack across the planet. Also how between main items you can pick up expansions you couldn't get before without gratuitous backtracking.

Damage yourself to the point where you will rocket past the first set of blocks but stop due to low energy before the second set. That's one of the more puzzling items to get so I assumed people wouldn't get it until much later (if at all).
I got that energy tank with a diagonal shinespark to the left. It needs perfect aim, but it's doable. I take it that wasn't intentional?
Nope, but that's an interesting alternate way to do it.

Also, its too bad the 'flow' only appears when people know where the items are. Then again, first time playthroughs of anything like Metroids are probably always going to be full of choatic backtracking and being lost unless the items are hidden somewhat leniently.

Can someone use this patch on a headerless ROM?  Someone can't get it to work!
Hated by all
I guess a practical way is to already open Golden Dawn on SMILE, remove the header, then recreate the patch. Don't forget you need a clean unheadered ROM to have the unheadered hack-file work to make the patching process.

Or even just open a clean ROM and add a header.

Also: I'm replaying this just for the hell of it, and I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to get into EH. I took the route from Underworld through the Dark Gardens last time and that worked, but it required some really nasty horizontal bomb jumping which just seemed too tough for the hack. What route am I 'supposed' to take?

*SIGH*  It will take me a while to figure out how to do that.  TY
It's not really hard to do... >_>
Erm, you can just use the "add header" option in SNEStool to add a header to the clean rom, then patch it I believe. Or just find the headered ver of SM. You'll need a headered ver of the rom to play a lot of the other fullhacks anyway.

There's a SM door in a room in DG up near where you got the Varia. You shoot that out, then follow the path down until you get to a bridge that has lava below it - you bomb the bridge, run through the lava, then you'll come out in the room with the crumbleblock run that leads to EH, but you have to ignore that for now, fall down and go through the door at the bottom right, follow that down to Crocomire, kill him, get ice beam, then go right, down the elevator, fall down in the lower elevator room, go through the door to the lavarise room that you've been through before, do it, then you'll enter the peaceful infinitewalljump room, at the very top on the left side, you're aware the passage there leads to EH - in that room, after the fake wall by the statue, you can now freeze out some of the eye enemies and climb to the door, then go through it to get on the other side of that gate in the crumbleblock run room, then run across it and boom, EH. Needlessly complicated and confusing, isn't it?

I'm definitely gonna need to add a header to the existing ROM, I'm not downloading another ROM after all the threatening emails I got from my ISP & the ESA after the first one.

D'oh! Freezing the flies! Really, that should have occurred to me the first time. I always just killed them all and did some really nasty bomb jumping up. It sucked because I was constantly afraid I would run into an impossible barrier and all that time spent would be for nothing.
Got any tips for beating Spore Spawn? I have
5 e-tanks, ice+charge, 15 super missiles, after backtracking to get more stuff before trying again - originally had only 3 e-tanks, HAHA
and he's still wiping the floor with my behind.
It shouldn't take more than 15 SMs to kill him - perhaps less. However, the dodging is the hard part. You need to be constantly moving. It typically sweeps around in an the shape of an "infinity" symbol, which means when its on one side of the room you obviously want to be on the other. I don't think rolling around in morph ball form will avail you much in the fight given how tight the room is, so you've got to go under it or even over it when you think you can. Also you should be constantly firing at the spores that fall to regain energy and such. BIG hint (not really necessary to win since its somewhat of an exploit but it helps if youre absolutely stuck): The spores deal rather low damage, but spore spawn itself deals a decent amount if you hit into it. So if you see spore spawn coming at you, if you have a choice between getting hit by him and getting hit by a spore, ram yourself intentionally into the spore so you gain the 'temporary invincibility' and so you won't take damage from spore spawn itself at that moment. If you do that repeatedly the fight should be a lot easier.
Thanks for the help, I eventually got him by learning the pattern for jumping over him as he swings.

GD is proving to be a really fun hack! Thanks for making it. I'm curious though... what are the "intended" solutions to a couple places I couldn't get through and had to resort to IBJ:
- the hall just left of GT - escape is through a door in the ceiling I couldn't jump to, or reach with a walljump. Not enough room to charge for a shinespark, or even reach the door edge with a boosted spinjump...
- the rising-acid room in lower underworld on the way to the wave beam. Ledges block all walljumping up either side of the right-hand part of the room. Escaped with 10 energy left after IBJing through three screen heights of acid... skin of my teeth, man. Or are you supposed to have the space jump already for this? I haven't figured out how to get into the sky temple yet.

Also: from reading this thread a few days back it looked like getting the springball without fighting Botwoon should require freezing enemies a bunch of times... that puzzled me, I didn't have to do that. Just went right up the water column below it with the gravity suit. Or am I confusing that with some other sequence break?

The solution to both of these is easy: The Hijump boots =3 Although you could freeze one of the ki hunters in that room to the left of GT to get up into the door. The acid room really wasn't 'intended' to be done that way but I basically knew people could IBJ up there even if they had skipped the hijump boots but that it'd be very difficult. That's sort of the tradeoff by allowing sequence breaks like that by the more skilled players - some people might think that's how they have to do it, which is why I had to emphasize that no IBJ was required.

Well, the entrance to GT where you get the gravity suit is sort of rough to get to without the spring ball, so some people can't get through and thus go looking for the spring ball (this is another case of sequence breaks being possible if you want to go to a bit more trouble). Since they don't have the Gravity suit yet, they have to either go the normal way by fighting Botwoon, or use that icebeam sequence break.
That makes sense, okay. But haha, I still don't have the hijump boots. I've seen where they are on the map, but getting to them is another story.  aiwebs_016 I guess I assumed you need spacejump to get through the water room. Maybe I just need to work on my crumble-block-fu...
Eh? That's not where they are; they're to the left of the landing site, not to the right.

How long did it take to draw that?  Shocked
He must've been bored at some pt.

You're going to have to do that for Sky Temple's Sadskull too

If you're bored enough to be drawing that, then maybe it's time to start working on Cliffhanger 2.  Very Happy

Oh wow I see it now. But how do you explain all the junk hanging off the edges of it? That doesn't really fit.

GAWD you people ARE TEH WOSRTS

Less than a week from vacation, and if I'm going to delay on Aegis a bit longer maybe I'll churn it out sooner.
Hey man, we jus' be tellin' da troofs. We aren't telling you to do it.
