Do you see the little portion of map over to the right, indicating you stepped in and weren't able to go any further (because of some pillars)? That's not a real dead end. The passage is in the ceiling, with a midair morph. Oddly enough not too many people mentioned getting stuck there (probably just because of the way the room just dumps you into it when you go through the door and it doesnt seem logical that it'd be a dead end), but it is a rather deceptive area.

I don't mean to cause any serious flaming or anything, but why was this hack named "Golden Dawn"?
What the final area looks like holds the answer to your question.

Constant Sorrows
On that note, I'm thinking about renaming Aegis to "Super Metroid: Silver Dusk"... hrmm.

Well, I wished that if it were possible, that there was a sun rising out in the background with the dawn lights, even in the
Sky Temple, which is supposed to be the final area.
I'm sure it's possible, although that's getting into scary ASM changes.

I believe it's not as easy as drawing your background, and putting an insane amount of ASM and FX Layer programming just to plug it in.
the metroid is a lie !
a little of topic but...
(to black telomeres)
the ceres tileset looks awesome  :D was it just a rip or did you draw some of it your'e self Question.
because the hand rails for the stairs look new.
There's no redrawing. It's just a rip from one tileset and then I implanted the tiles into another one (in this case, Red Brinstar's tileset). However, I arranged and used the tiles in this tileset a bit differently than they're normally used so they look a bit different (that's why the railings look like they have little gradations in them). The computer monitors are also created of slightly different pieces so they should look a bit different too. Now the issue I had was that I didn't want to have to rip the whole tileset and recreate it, so I just took selected pieces that I wanted. I basically wanted it mostly for little connecting zones between areas.
I'm pretty sure I sequence broke the heck out of this thing accidentally. I think I explore too much for my own good, especially with IBJing. Let's see if I can retrace my steps:
I got the Morph Ball, Charge Beam, Missiles, and Bombs as normal. Then I missed the Varia and got the Grapple Beam. I guessed that perhaps I had to run through heated areas of Norfair to get the Varia as seems to be popular in romhacks. After a bit more looking around I found the Varia and went to the rest of the Underworld and got Super Missiles. I was on the way to where the Ice Beam was, as I later found out, but in the large blue room just before Crocomire I Mockballed my way into the Eternal Hall, way earlier than I should have I'm guessing. From there I killed Spore Spawn, went to the Wrecked Ship, killed Phantoon, got the Speed Booster, hen went back to the Eternal Hall, killed Kraid, and got Power Bombs. I freaked out in the Metroid room without the Ice Beam. After that I found my way to Gold Torizo. Killing it with noting but the regular Charge Beam took forever, thank goodness for the cheesy way to fight him. After getting the Gravity Suit, I found my way to the glass tube, and rather than find the proper way in I glitched through it and got the Spring Ball. Shortly after I found I was supposed to fight Botwoon first, so I did just for the heck of it. After exploring back through the ruins and gardens, I went back on-sequence in the big blue room and fought Crocomire. Having the Gravity Suit took all the extra challenge out of it. I then went to the Underworld section through the yellow door and found the Wave Beam, and after getting out I FINALLY got the High Jump. A lot of the stuff I did, especially the Wave Beam part of the Underworld, was a pain without it. Then I got the Spazer, and am now trying to figure out how to get the E-Tank in the room ust west of there. There's all these block-walls where doors should be leading to it, and no other way in. I'm guessing it's part of the escape sequence, when the block walls will indeed become doors or collapse out of the way.

Phew. I think I made the game harder than it should have been up to this point. laugh new
Well, let's see, many of your sequence breaks were the typical ones in there for advanced players. The most basic was skipping the ice beam to get into EH. The mockball wasn't really necessary though, all that's needed is running to get across the crumble block bridge. Unless you mean mockballing makes it possible to do it from the 'wrong' side of the reverse blue gate so IBJing to get on the 'right' side without the ice beam isn't needed? Then skipping the spazer (which is sort of brutal), and skipping Botwoon (I predicted a lot of people would end up being able to do this). Pretty much aware of all those. I was going to say skipping the spazer was probably the biggest problem (because of GT) but then there's always the super missile spam route. Skipping the hijump until after the wave beam segment sounds like the worst perhaps, because of the rising acid room. Despite the rather conspicuous e-tank before the wave beam area and the one pretty much out in the open right before the wave beam, a lot of people mentioned they had to CF in there, so it's probably even harder without the hijump.

Nope, it's not a part of the escape. It's a rather difficult "thinking man's" puzzle. There are no doors from elsewhere to get in there. From what you're describing, you may not have found the entrance to the passage (most people find the entrance but have problems figuring out how to get in). You're pretty much intended to either miss it altogether (I don't count it as an e-tank I ever expect the player to have when tweaking the difficulty on boss fights and such) or find it only by
running along the upper part of the room and hitting a SB block that you can't do anything with from above since its in the floor. Its merely the 'exit' point of the boost; but of course once you've found that, you know the 'entrance' is at the same coordinate in the bottom.

Yeah, I had to CF too. Mainly because I actually had to bomb jump in the rising lava room to get through it, so I took a lot of damage while doing that.

I found that, but when I shinesparked from below I just went through and wound up at the top of the room and the speed blocks reformed under me, so I gave up for the time being and moved on. Now I'm wandering around the Sky Temple with little success of finding anything besides a couple expansions.

I managed to figure it out immediately after finding the entance and the exit. That was a very easy E-Tank to get when I played through.

Yeah, I figured it out. It was pretty easy after thinking about it for a moment.

EDIT: Uh... Well, I got to Mother Brain, but after I beat her glass jar phase the game froze. Right when the screen scrolls over to center on her and just when she was supposed to start exploding. Any explanation/solution?

Oh, and one more thing...
No Ridley? I got all the main items. Is he during the escape sequence, or off in some corner guarding an Energy Tank I missed?
Yeah this has happened before, it's because you're using a certain version of ZSNES. I forget which one does it but some people have been able to finish it with other versions. I had a warning up in the first post but it seems to have gotten reverted. You'd have to go back to the ship, save, and then load using SNES9x. Or try to find a ver of ZSNES that works.
Damn it. Now the map is going to be all screwed up when I load, nevermind the backtracking.
Yeah that happens with pretty much any hack that's of a certain size when loading from a save station, although SMILE has since added a fix for it.
ZSNES v1.51 fixed it. I haven't updated in so long I had 1.36, this finally gave me motivation to. laugh new

I can't be bothered to look for those last 8 items in such a large world, especially knowing how obscure a few of the ones I found by accident were. I'd have to shoot, power bomb, and X-ray every wall. Is there a list of all the items somewhere?

I know I'm missing
two energy tanks and two reserve tanks. The other four I'm not sure. I have 165 missiles, 85 supers, and 60 power bombs.

There is a map somewhere on Lotlot.net. I would love to post it, but I don't want to spoil it here.

Edit:
Thank you.
I always wondered why a random version of ZSNES didn't work with it while others do. And only for one specific room as well. So bizarre. Which version was it btw? I knew it back when people mentioned it before and I added it to the first post but I don't recall anymore. I also have heard Redesign has problems with some versions of ZSNES as well.

Btw, good job getting that high a percentage without any sort of map until now. The typical finishing % for most people was a decent amount lower.

Redesign, according to DrewSeph, didn't work with ZSNES 1.4x. On my aunt's HP Pavilion, SNES 9X 1.43-Improv12-Beta 8 seems to sometimes jam on me when I load savestates on Redesign (I'll just get Beta 9 then).

ZSNES v1.36 was the one that caused the crash. I have that version for netplay, since 1.51 apparently doesn't support it.

Thanks, after I got the X-ray Scope I used it pretty much everywhere I went to find stuff. Several items hidden in the wall I found by shooting them accidentally. Two of the items I missed were behind doors I forgot to backtrack to. There's too many to keep track of sometimes. Now I think I'm going to replay the game in-sequence.

This is a fun little hack so far. I like the extra challenge, such as during the Torizo fight. Super Metroid is just too easy after all these years, so good romhacks are refreshing. One thing I noticed though is that for some reason the room with the Varia and adjacent room don't show up on the map.
plasma beam v.2.0
you get used to that eventually.  very long time, if you relly on a map though
