For those having problems locating the first missile pack...

Just keep going left in Tetra Ruins until you hit a red door and can't progress any further.  The ceiling in part of this room is fake and thusly you can jump through it.  Once you do that, the huge steel structure at the top middle of the room houses your first missile pack squarely in the middle of said structure.

Hope that helps some.  I know had some difficulty trying to locate the first missile pack.  Took me a good 20-30 minutes before I found it.  Was the best feeling I had in the hack so far when I got it.

Once you get that missile pack, things will pick up I assure you.

As for your question ducknerd:

Check near a bridge-like structure.  There's an area you wouldn't quite expect one to search.
Well, you've assured me that things would pick up, but i'm becoming more and more sick of this frustration by the minute.

I just completely explored this HUGE metal room with fake walls and such, infinite bomb jumped up this 400 foot shaft, just to realize there's nothing at the top except for a shot block that leads nowhere (...)

Seriously, this is OK in little increments, but when you have to use this to progress in each room, its ridiculous.

Hacks like this just ain't for guys like us.

I really wonder how Anima Zero and Saturn can find it so godlike.

Thanks, but when I open it (the tool), it goes up for half a secound, and then goes away. Any help/how do I use it?

Read the readme
Okay got 1 etank and the first Missile Pack but still ain't got a clue about where to go.
You have to go get the bombs next.  Be on the look out for some (surprise, surprise) fake walls and such.

readme ain't helping.

stuck there with morphball, my fault for speeding up the game i guess? xd

Can you download a headered rom? Cause I need to do that or find out how to work NSRT.

And I like the level design and the over all feel. It makes me feel terrible to say this but, I don't like this hack at all. Everything is just too hard to figure out, and i'm more of an action player...I mean, for crying out loud, after 2 hours of play time, I have 10 missiles, and the morph ball. Thats it. And I didn't even get the "real" first pack of missiles, yeah that's right, both of the packs I have I had to sequence break to get.

Hm, I dunno what to tell you, but I was actually worried this wasn't as hard to find stuff in as Dependence. The playtesters only needed my help on a few key items. Also, the main path to the bombs I thought was rather obvious. Although the first instance of missiles are indeed somewhat tricky to find, but if you just follow the way the path seems to loop and take you, you should get some kind of an intuitional idea as to what to do to get them.

Is this the right item I am looking for now, and if so, where should I go to get it?

Go back to where you made the loop around in the Underworld and search around a bit more and you should find that item. It is indeed what you're supposed to go for next.

k, I'll try to fix that in a new version. But yes it's probably a result of speeding up the game, as I haven't encountered a problem there while playing normally.

Most of the roms out there should be headered actually. In fact, some rom sites probably note whether the version you're downloading is headered or not.

There actually is something up there if I recognize the room you're talking about, but that's not really the intended path to take to get there. That room is sort of for later in the game. I noted that IBJing isn't really needed, so in order to minimize exploration, you don't need to use it.

Perhaps I put too much difficult exploration stuff early on? There are a few areas later on after Tetra where you basically can just go straight through with only a few little puzzles as to how to progress, such as the first segment of the Underworld and the EH.

It's odd though, because I didn't think it was that different from Dependence in this way. I found it different in that it requires more physical difficulty, while the playtesters thought it had about the same level of exploration difficulty. Although it is true that because the hack isn't as nonlinear as Dependence, going in a random direction every time won't take you to something you can overcome, so there will end up being a lot more dead ends.
Alright, I finally managed to beat this hack!

After getting the last key items, the progress went very fast. I was actually surprised to see the Draygon fight that late. Due to a similar turret protection like in my hack, and with all the added spikes, it wasn't easy nevertheless and took me some time to find the best spot in his room. After realizing that I faced MB, you can sure imagine what I was shocked most at this moment. And then the escape, which made me go 0_0 not only once...

To sum it up, I enjoyed playing it. The by far best thing about it are the new sectors (Sky Temple is probably the highlight here), which gave a totally new atmosphere as if it wasn't Super Metroid at all. Maybe some items were a bit too hard to find, but for that it increased the tension and the tease factor to get them. If you got a bit frustrated in the beginning, I can promise it will get much more interesting the more you progress.

As always, I recorded this first-time playthrough on Snes9x 1.43+ v9.
If you got stuck or just want to see how to handle a particular situation, just have a look. Be warned though, it has alot of backtracking which is naturally for a first time playthrough.

I got it to work! Yay. Now I can play.

Missed plasma and SA.
Saturn - Glad you liked the hack. And thanks for recording the playthrough as well; it'll be an interesting watch for people.

BlueGlass - Just curious, but how did you kill the Ki Hunters that can (supposedly anyway) only be dispatched with Plasma to open the metal door on the way to the Draygon? Did you find some alternate way of killing them?
I'm slightly starting to like playing this since I've made some progress, now I have bombs, charge and 15 missiles, 2 etanks. I've been wandering around for a pretty long time, east from the gunship is the big water-filled room I don't have to go there now do I?

Nope, you can't really make it through that room as is right now.

Your next key item is...

Varia Suit

Look in the thread for hints on its location.
Just as a note, the item Anima mentioned is probably the hardest key item in the game to find (at least from my impressions of how long its taken people on this and other boards to find it), so don't fear if it takes you awhile to find - other items won't be nearly as bad. Although if anyone else who's mostly through or finished has any idea which they'd consider the hardest, it'd be interesting. Maybe Plasma as well? A lot of people seem to miss it and thus run into dead ends.

Also I believe the hints I've given about the the item Anima mentioned on other boards have related to
the fact that its near two 'accursed' bridges and that it requires a bit of an odd technique to bomb the block that leads to it. Also, its pretty obvious that somethings there in the location that leads to it - its just whether or not you try in the right part of the location.
I feel I was a little hard on this hack, especially because I did enjoy Dependence thoroughly.  Now that I have the Varia (You should have made the bomb-block visible, by the way) things are starting to pick up.

However, now i'm in the depths of hell and I have no idea if i'm even supposed to be here since I plunged through some lava and acid pits to get here.  I also remember double diagonal bomb jumping up through a door somewhere with water at the bottom.  Needless to say, i'm completely lost but that's not a bad thing because there are places to explore rather than dead ends.

I believe this hack could be improved vastly by simply making the puzzles less tedious.  This hack obviously had a lot of effort put into it so at the very least I owe it a complete playthrough regardless.
I will join the
I cant find Varia train! I have been searching, even with the clues mentioned above, but I can't find it. My last Item was Grapple.
And you likely won't find the varia suit on your own without going insane and/or bald.  So here's a helpful hint:

Remember when you went through the ceiling in the room with the flying enemies, right after getting the morph ball?  Search this area a little more.  It seems the unbreakable bomb blocks are supposed to be a hint.
I'm stuck in a hot room with spikes and morphball tunnels. I found the Varia and stuff so one blablabla and am now stuck, no grapple beam. I seem to get nowhere no matter how much I bomb shit around. There's a blue gate right after the door.

Please for gods sake tell me I'm not ahead of anything and I need to go back and find the grapple beam somwhere.

EDIT:
Never mind found the way.

I was considering making the Varia a little bit easier to find by doing something like that but some of my testers liked the insanity of how hard it was to find. I'm conflicted over the fact there's a hint but the actual passage itself is so hard to find that people will likely overlook the hint. I think something frustrating about this hack exploration-wise is the number of 'false positives' as far as passages you could get through while exploring. I probably should've reduced them.

If you can get there, you're supposed to be there. I think most of the rest of the game is more like this segment than the early segment. Although there are still a lot of dead ends and at least two more grueling morph ball puzzles to go. Get the X-Ray scope asap to make them easier though. I think most of the trek through Tetra the first time is sort of meant to let you use your intuition to guide you. There is a fake dead end every 3 or so rooms, I know, but I just kinda felt people would know to keep pressing on in there. I actually thought the bigger turn off would be the physical difficulty being a bit higher myself. Due to the crumble bridge or the crumble block test at the beginning of Tetra. I did have to end up dumbing those down from their original form though, as they were just too hard originally.

You're actually on the exact right track. You just have to keep pushing around in that maze down there below the backwards gate. The first deception is the enemy hive down at the bottom, then the second one is over far to the right, you can push through a wall there rather than having to go left from the second enemy hive. After that you should be able to make it through to where you're supposed to go.
damn this is hard, im stuck in tetra ruins i already got
some missiles and the morph ball

but it seems i cant go back from where i come, and everywhere i go its a dead end.. there is a room with water but i doubt i can go there 8(

help please xdd im at the room with
