Man I only have 20 Missiles. Seems like they are very well hidden, while me being too impatient to search around. :P
Regarding Varia, I was surprised the bomb blocks didn't break, but I was sure there is a entrance to the top right seeing how the room was build, so I just bombed every possible block around there, and found it by accident. :)

Anyway, I solved the previous problem, but got stuck again:

Got Grapple Beam and am now searching my way through west Underworld. The question is, do I really have to tackle lower Norfair that early already? I don't even have Supers nor Gravity yet, so I'm not sure if I'm going the right way...

Yes, thats where you're supposed to be.
The area order is pretty different from the original SM, so while you make a brief trip through the lower part of the Underworld now, you shouldn't have too much of a problem besides maybe the acid room. Plus obviously you can't find everything that's down there yet.

Well, technically there are only 4 places where you have to shoot tiles to progress before you get the bombs:

2. The block that holds the missiles has to be hidden, so it has to be a shotblock. The passage within the steel structure sort of hints that there has to be something in there
3. One shotblock in the hall that has some structures blocking progress that you can then roll into. (But here too, you basically know you need to get past that structure, so its just a matter of shooting around one small area.)

2. Wait.. so I missed missiles then <_<;
3. Yeah that one was easy to find.
Just started playing it. First comment: remove the gameplay demos from the intro, or at least accomodate them to new rooms. ;)
Alright, I finally got the
power bombs. The problem now is that there are so many yellow doors in different sectors that it could take forever to find the correct path. Any small hint on where I should go next maybe (roughly)?

My first impression of this hack is very good so far. Alot of really large and tricky rooms where one can easily lose orientation (something that didn't happen in the original that often). Completely new order of events which were surprising to see, new sectors, and very smart boss room designs to make them very challenging with a totally different feeling. You certainly have some great design and hacking skills, Telomeres, and you especially know how to tease with new items being often just shot blocks. :P

Most of the power bomb doors don't actually lead anywhere that important - so you're right, it's quite deceptive and now that a large portion of the areas are accessable, it can get a bit insane looking for where to go. As far as a hint, I can say that if you want the next key item, you should be returning to the beginning of the game. It seems like that happens a couple times in this hack actually. Right after the bombs, after the super missiles, and now after power bombs. There's even a shortcut in the Eternal Hall that'll take you back close to the beginning if you can find it.

Basically I noticed after I designed most of the hack that it can sort of be divided into a couple of phases. The first one ends with Crocomire, since after that, you leave the beginning part of the game to go after the next key item, then after the Power Bombs, phase two ends as you go back to the beginning

Thanks. The area design, item order, and the way they come together were some of the things I was focusing more on in this hack (compared to my first one), as I noted in the opening post, so I'm glad you like them so far.

I'm really happy with the way the early boss fights turned out. I actually tried to cut down on the number of e-tanks available at the beginning, even through insane searching, so everyone could get the sort of rush I got from fighting
Crocomire in that room during testing with only 3-4 etanks. I actually didn't fare too well the first time but a few fights later I was able to adjust my strategy in the fight and now the fight seems pretty easy. To me, it feels sort of like a whole different battle because of the way the lava affects the jumping physics. The fact that you have to adjust to the new room design and fight him in a bit different way is usually my goal for modifying boss rooms
I appreciate the effort put into making this hack, I really do.

And I like the level design and the over all feel.  It makes me feel terrible to say this but, I don't like this hack at all.  Everything is just too hard to figure out, and i'm more of an action player...I mean, for crying out loud, after 2 hours of play time, I have 10 missiles, and the morph ball.  Thats it.  And I didn't even get the "real" first pack of missiles, yeah that's right, both of the packs I have I had to sequence break to get.

I don't want to spend two hours shooting every single block in every single room...That's just not the kind of difficulty I like.

Edit:  I guess I won't give up on this quite yet.  Maybe its just my mood.  Oh well, i'll come back tomorrow.  Hopefully I don't get as frustrated.
Thanks for the advices.

I recently got Gravity Suit and Spring Ball, tried to go to all water filled rooms I remembered, but there was still either a dead end, or a loop to a place I already was. Then I got to east side of lower Underworld through the yellow door in Dark Gardens, but once again I made a loop without any progress. I guess I need Wave Beam next, as I saw a wrong sided gate in the Sky sector which looks promising for further progress, but I just can't find it.

Is this the right item I am looking for now, and if so, where should I go to get it?
So, my last item was
ice beam

Hint as to my next destination, please, as I've explored every single place I can find?

Although I'm guessing my next item is either
speedbooster or PBs
EDIT:  Never mind.  I just found out one of the dead ends wasn't a dead end.

EDIT2:  Jus beat
Phantoon
Hint as to where to find my reward?

EDIT3:  Stupid random shot blocks.
yeah

Seems like people are enjoying the hack a lot, I might consider trying it too. :P The only hack I've ever played through is the Impossible and even that was because it had the "lololol this is for pros u can't beat it" mark in it. Man I want SM:I 2.....

...Saturn?  :(

Play it entirely without savestates this time. :P

Heh, I can't. I suck too much at this game nowadays. :P Impossible had great stuff. I mostly liked the same map design and you almost always kinda knew where to go. Wandering around for hours with this shit-hacks just makes me ill, that's why I haven't been playing anything else.

I can't even get missiles in Golden Dawn, though barely got the morph ball.
yeah

How do you attach a header to a rom?
Stuck again...

I already found Wave Beam and Screw Attack (thanks to the mighty power bombs which save alot of exploring time :)), but am now stucking in Sky Temple. I searched all possible rooms there, but can't find a way to progress. Do I have to search somewhere else than in Sky Temple? I still didn't find Draygon nor Ridley, and I have no idea what use the Screw Attack would have other than killing enemies more easily.

Any small hint on what the next key item is and maybe where to look for it? I really enjoy the hack so far, the idea with Sky Temple is just amazing, as it has great colours and gives a totally new feeling.

Tonski:
SMI:2 will be very hard to create if you stick once again to the original games level design. SMI already used this map with the best challenge ideas I could think of. In order to not make SMI:2 very similar to the first one, you would have to redesign most of the levels from scratch again. This will however require much time and alot of additional planning/testing, which I don't have at the moment.

[13:53:02] <moozooh> oh yeah, that sucks ass.
[13:53:07] <moozooh> major time.
[13:53:14] <moozooh> in fact, i got stuck because of that.
[13:54:49] <kwinse> I gave up once I reached a red door after a room packed with enemies
[13:57:02] <kwinse> if I was supposed to have missiles by then it would have been very nice to know

My point exactly, it took me (sadly) over an hour to get the morph ball.  I spent a LONG time shooting the vertical pipes hoping one would cave, and that took long enough with just the power beam.  Those two little inconspicuous tiles were almost impossible to find, me being an impatient speed runner type player.

I personally think you should give us the wave beam as soon as we get off the ship, to save this hack from being annoying rather than a fun, new experience.

Edit: I now have the charge beam and bombs, and guess what...i STILL don't have the first "real" pack of missiles.

Still need to know how to header a rom.
Kwinse:
I gave up on the exactly same spot just moments ago. It just isn't interesting to search invisible passages and hidden morph ball holes all the freakin' time. Then go all the way there through all those enemies and finding holes to find a red door, and surprise, you have no missiles.  Evil or Very Mad

I really expected more from this hack so far. Maybe if I'll get a lot of hints and stuff and there's something near I missed I could continue.

Saturn:
I was half-serious, I knew you wouldn't make another Super Metroid Impossible no matter how much I wanted it. :P The old one keeps me busy enough on the moment with my TAS, Croc is just pain in the ass he keeps giving me slower patterns than to Kriole. Any tips?

Oh, and I hope you're really expecting my next WIP, I can assure you 100% that it's more optimized, better work with more speedtricks and timesavers than Kriole's TAS has. ;)

-EDIT-
Sorry Fano7. I'm not the best man to help but I'll try: From the link in Saturn's sig that leads to his website you can find Lunar IPS, download it. Then download that IPS file you can find in the first post of this thread. Make a copy of super metroid.smc on your desktop. Start Lunar IPS and press "Apply ISP patch" (I think it says so) and find the IPS file you downloaded. Then when a new window opens pick the super metroid.smc from your desktop and it should say "File succesfully patched!". And now your super metroid.smc is Super Metroid Golden Dawn.
I hope I'm right. :)
Just download a headered rom?

Tonski: That is what you do to to a unheadered or headered rom.

errgh, this level design can get a bit annoying at times. I do have to ask: where is the
Varia Suit?

Dark Gardens, not too far away of your ship. Use Bombs. :)
