I don't have any specific route in mind but I think you should just go with the main upgrades and not many Missiles/Powerbombs/Supers since there is no boss that really needs a crapload of ammo. I don't know about E-tanks since there are a few places where you will need some, I guess you won't need to many though. Just try to keep away from pause abuse (except for when going to speedbooster since IIRC you won't do kraid first).

Screwattack early might save some time, especially when going for the first PBs since there are creatures there that take really much ammo to kill and needs to be killed.
Well, an any% route, hm.....

Route's fairly obvious until you beat sporespawn, and then you have choices. Actually, depending on later choices in the route, this could get complicated. My advice for you Fano is to play through without TASing too much and try to get as few items as possible. This will give you an idea of what is needed, then you can find which of the items available is fastest to obtain, and get whatever you need.
You guys have some weird keyboard setups.  I can see the logic and using left hand for directions and right hand for actions (like an SNES controller) but why would you put angle up (D) right next to angle down (C)?  It makes it very awkward to press them at the same time.

Personally, I use A for angle down and Numlock-0 for angle up.  Both of them use the pinky, and both of them are on there corresponding sides, same as the SNES controller.  Also, you can perform any other action on the control scheme while using these keys.

Hey Kriole, how's your TAS coming along? also, does anyone have a good any% route? or am I just going to half to make it up myself?

Had to redo some of my route completely. And I'm slowly turning this into a subtle superplay.

Edit: Updating it. This update contains some of my favorite parts. Enjoy ;]

Using gravy v1.1 check page 10 for that version.

Really nice work there kriole, you definitely have a good knack of finding cool timesavers and tricks Very Happy
Well, that made me giggle like an idiot. Especially the Speedboosting CWJs.

Fantastic work as per usual Kriole.

Yes, the funny thing was though, usually when releasing jump-button while CWJing, you lose all your forward speed. But, due to some weird conditions, I don't know, maybe it was the underwater environment, I kept my speed at 1.28 or whatever it was, all the way to the door. I was really surprised when I kept my speed after the first jump. Well, enough of my low-life giddiness. And I seriously overuse the commas.

I'm a bit confused, I've tried watching this and all I see is samus acting crazy in the ship landing zone, as if playing in another part of the game.
you have to get the correct version of snes9x.

If you look at a post made by saturn, the download is on his site.

The correct version is Snes9xw-Improvement9.

Kriole's run is definitely worth downloading the emulator for.

edit: also make sure you use version 1.1 of Gravy. Kriole has it available on page 10 of this thread.

well I'm starting to make a route for my TAS, but I will not be done with it for some time. it would be extremely nice if someone made a route for me Rolling Eyes. if no one will, I do have a few questions.

You should take all the packs I do before I enter Norfair, maybe the pink brinstar pack too. Then just smack hell out of mini-kraid, because I sincerely advice you not to use pause-abuse. After that it is pretty much like normal Super Metroid.
Almost happy
I will hate you if you do suitless norfair... It shouldn't be much slower to do kraid first anyway (ingame of course, in realtime it will be 5 hours faster).

For a general route I don't really know Gravy that well but it should be quite straightforward I think so no iffy choices there. A good thing would be to record a run in realtime with only savestates and rerecords and just play from beginning to end, that would give you a much more clear picture of when you should go where and how many E-tanks you should need for the unavoidable damage parts.

E-tanks I don't know, if you won't test all the critical areas before making the TAS you should keep yourself a little on the safe side I guess, just don't pick up any that stray to far from the main path.

As far as Missile/Super Missile/Powerbomb pickups goes just keep it low, while making bosses faster they hardly ever turn out to be faster to grab in the end, other then the really close ones and perhaps some extras before 端ber kraid.
Almost all the packs before mini kraid will make him faster. It takes full arsenal without SBs + like 3 shots to kill him, and every missle counts. I would also prefer if you didn't use pause abuse, but I'd watch the TAS anyway...  Addiction's a bitch.  laugh new

The only part you'll want really watch your energy for would be the room before gravity in WS, which may require a CF if you don't have enough Etanks. I never really notcied before, but yeah, for an any %, the route is pretty much the same as the original SM.
Every Bit Counts
ok. I am going to do pause screen abuse, because mini-Kraid will take forever without it. I still need to get a route in my head. I olny need 2 missile packs (well one) to do 3 round Spore Spawn. I'll have 3 because of the right there pack in the large pink Brinstar room. The pause screen abuse will be like Kriole's, so you can just fast-forward through that part. Now, should I face Croc? I'm thinking no, but I need to get PB somewhere.
It seems to me that grapple was required somewhere, but that could be a different hack i'm thinking of. If its not required, it helps a lot because it will kill all those crawling enemies in one shot. Then again, being a TAS, you probably wouldn't need it. So, basically... do whichever you prefer.

Okay I'm not trying to force you to make things you don't want but here's the thing. If you take a reasonable amount of missiles before Mini Kraid and say you face him with 10 missiles and 5 supers, he would take ~1:30 to kill, if you take that Super Missile pack in green brinstar to and maybe some more missiles that are not to far away and face him with 20 missiles and 10 Supers he would take ~45 seconds nothing happens during the fight, the one who watches it can fastforward through that dull moment. Now pause abusing through norfair and then some adds minutes upon minutes of time to your run and it makes some otherwise decent parts of it completely unwatchable. I would sacrifice one minute on that endgame timer to make those parts of the run bareable to watch.
Every Bit Counts
well thats you Cpadolf. If you want a pause screen abuse less run, then why don't make it? I dont really feel like making a TAS of this anymore because nobody wants me to, and if I make a TAS of this, it will use Pause Screen Abuse unless someone can prove that it's slower in-game wise.

then why don't make it?

One day perhaps I will.

Anyway, I'm just expressing my point of view and I'm not trying to force you to do anything.

So pause abuse for the speedbooster, get the screw attack and then go for Kraid? Just spamming mini-kraid with missiles/smissiles and normal shots is WAY faster than taking the detour + pause abuse, real-time wise. You could always start with phantoon and get the gravity. Then you could skip the pause abuse. But do the energy tanks suffice? Though those larvas you need to kill to get power bombs aren't that funny either.

The gravity suit preroom is a problem too. That one without speedbooster/grapple is, with the given amount of energy tanks, impossible. Also pause abuse is no option here, since you will die when you pick up the suit. But, if one would have enough materials for a crystal flash? But still. I take it's the spiky part that requires the biggest amount of energy.

I'm going for in-game, so I defiently need to use pause screen abuse

God bless the turbo-button =)

Since I won't be working on my Gravy TAS anymore until christmas, here is an early 'present'. Using Gravy v1.1, available in my post on page 10. About 10 minutes more material than the last update.
