In sector 3 there is a part where you fight one of those big roly-poly looking thingys in a large round room.  When the fight is over, you can board a round downward elevator in the center of the room.  While riding downwards on this elevator, there's a door that you can see in the distance, but I don't believe that it is a door that you would normally go through.  Has anyone else noticed this door and/or figured out how to get to it?
Note:  You can only see it if you are facing a certain direction while riding the elevator.  Make sure that your back is to the door that you used when you entered the round room.
Thread title:
Isn't that the door it the room after dealing with the crane? (Where you have to use a terminal to unlock the door.) I say that because you have to go around a central area twice on your way up to that fight, and it would make sense that you're heading back through that room on the way down the elevator.

Man, that sounds confusing at first glance. Hopefully someone gets what I'm trying to say.
It is very confusing to try to talk about places in the other M map since the rooms dont have names.  Hell, the creatures dont even have names.  The part I'm talking about comes later than that I believe.  I might just have to shoot some video of it.  :(
I like turtles.
I noticed this door as well.  I'm not sure if it leads anywhere.  Probably would have to hack and find out.  Maybe it'll lead to that sector with the beer and strippers.

I saw that door too, could probably check what it is with the walk through walls code.

Prime Hunter: Yknow that miniboss that you fight four times... once on the elevator after Wave Beam, then when it attacks Anthony, then before Ridley, and finally in Sector 1 for Seekers. Opium is referring to the elevator you take after you defeat it for the third time. Some of the walls on the elevator ride are transparent and you can see a door in the distance through one of them.
The creatures are given names in the guide. The Giant Sidehoppers from MZM are now known as a Baristutes.

Yeah, isn't that third battle (the one we're discussing) above the Desert Refinery room? (Now that I remember the name for it.) It makes sense that you'd go back through any room that you're above on the way down, and if that IS the case here, the door we're seeing is likely the one that we have to unlock when we're in that room. That's how I see it.

We're talking about this area right?

OK yeah, now that I see it again Desert Refinery is the square-like room below this one on the map isn't it? Or is that the room with the crane? I can't remember which one it is just from looking at the map like this.
I think that might be it since it is definitely a round room.  It has a round downward-elevator in the center of the room that looks damaged.  You ride the elevator after defeating the bug-thingy.

There's a guide for MoM?  I haven't seen it in any of the shops.  Does it provide names for any of the rooms?
ANKOKU
I'd just like to point out, there ARE names for the rooms (some of them) they just only appear when you enter them the first time and that's it.
No, I got that image from IGN apparently. I just googled for it and a similar image of Sector 3 came up so I went looking for the source and found this one.

But I know there's at least one Other M guide, but it wasn't there when I got the game so I don't have it yet. (Mostly for collection purposes and in case it would help with speed running or finding tricks.)
However, it was Prima, so who knows if they are the real names, giving Prima's track record...
I was going through the models in BRRES Viewer; it's not Desert Refinery. It has a door at the top and one at the bottom.

yea, it's that room you guys are talking about, you ride a elevator down and there is a green door on your way down...

but i think is only a decoration...
If it is indeed merely a decoration, would it be the first fake door in the series?  I know there are several in Super Metroid hacks, but I can't think of any in one of the real games.
It depends on what you mean by fake door.  Fusion had a few doors that were destroyed that you couldn't go through, so you had to circumvent them.
By fake, I mean that they look like any other door (so its obvious that they arent part of BG), but they do not open and even if they did there is nothing on the other side.  They are put there just to make you say wtf.
There are doors in the Frigate in Prime 1 with crap piled in front of them that never open.
Really?  I will look for them next time.

There are several door type objects in the Phazon Mines that look like they should go somewhere and they're even scannable but it says access denied, locks tuned to space pirate biosigns or something like that.
Are they the typical hexagonal doors, or are they those big blast-door types?

They aren't regular doors. But the scan message seems to imply there could be something behind it, but you never gain the ability to go through them. There are other similar objects in other parts of the game but they are not scannable and not destroyable and it's clear they're just decorations. Then there are other similar objects in the game that are scannable and DO open up. So if you ask me it does kind of fool people.

Time bomb set get out fast!
They may not look exactly like usable doors, but Other M has definitely set a new record for doors that don't open. I was really looking forward to seeing what was behind some of those locked red doors that just never open. Then there are unlit doors, doors with slightly different designs... there's even an honest-to-God blue door in Bioweapons Research that's apparently just for show. That one may be only postgame, I'm not sure.
Speaking of doors, I loved Other M's because you almost always could just go straight through them.  (and they look cool too)
In the Prime games, for whatever reason, when I shot a door and went up to it, it would just stay closed for a while.  Did anone else have this problem?  Even after playing all three games I never managed to figure out why that happened.
The doors were closed to hide loading >_>
In the Prime games?  Thats what they did in Other M, but it said now loading.
No, because sometimes the doors would fuck with me, I would shoot it, it wouldnt open, Id go back somewhere, and it would open then, but itd close by the time I reached it, and then I was thoroughly confused.  I had the most grief at one of the huge doors on the sunken frigate
