imo the one on the left looks better (Samus looks too cartoonish in the one on the right.)
ANKOKU
The high brightness looks like a game (as it should).

That's the one I'd go for but I don't really care.
Just finished the TAS guys, encoding it now.

attachment:
You finished in 1:00:48? My run was ~1:00:37. Wow, what a crappy TAS.
Where are you getting 1:00 from? I don't see a 1:00 in this picture... :/

ok well I'm going to work on getting the saw dash to the door on the other side this time, I really don't understand why it doesn't seem work but maybe I'll find a way to do it.

Oh and I think I understand locking onto things now:

the most important thing at the MrSpeeddash™ is that you mustn't hit things on the ground they'll slow you down aiwebs_008
^^ don't smack into things, it slows you down derp derp.

You know that idea about wall crawling through the ice temple, yeah.
http://www.metroid2002.com/secret_worlds_chapel_of_the_elders.php

Get Boost
Shorelines SW
Wall crawl to Wave Beam
Leave the fight using that SW
Wall crawl out

This should be faster then the inbounds route, mainly because it skips the fight, but it also skips that ball tunnel which is pretty slow first time through :P

I'll test is out once I actually get here on dolphin <_<

Ok so, this has been done, its not even a second slower then doing it inbounds and would be faster if the last room wasn't so honorably unoptimized and if I didn't switch maps (meaning that I'd have to do that room without the graphics loaded D: )

as for leaving, I'm still working on it, but I'm guessing its going to take about just as long as fighting the 4 baby sheegoths so as long as the wallcrawl out isn't slower then fighting the Sheegoth and leaving inbounds, then this is faster ^_^

Also: we need that artifact, with IB it might be possible to boost right through that little room with it (collecting it and then flying back into a SW again) making the SW route like 17 years faster
One thing I would like someone with TAS to test is to see if a perfect wallcrawl to the artifact of warrior would be faster in an normal any percent run over picking up spiderball.  (I don't have the technical demands needed for TAS sadly)

That's another thing we're going to test before we start the full game TAS, but we would need to also do a prefect thardus fight and a few rooms inbounds which would be annoying/ time consuming. so we're kinda putting that off and testing the shorter things.
That's one of the things I thought about. It probably is faster if you think about how much time a TAS can save from wallcrawls versus the Thardus fight that can barely be improved in a TAS.
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
Also the whole idea on early plasma beam, because like earlier power bombs and early Artifact in the Ice Temple would be nice, it'd also probably make getting wave beam inbounds faster because powerbombing the Sheegoth is fun

Here's a TAS of the in-bounds route from the Ridley cutscene in Shorelines to Wavebeam and back to Shorelines, for comparison to the out of bounds route. This is approximately 17 seconds faster than Miles' 1:00 run, complete with a 2 round Sheegoth fight.

It's not exactly optimized, but when we get here in our full game run it'll be optimized, although it'll probably be faster to wallcrawl.
ANKOKU
Well remember that the wall crawl has you start the fight with Wave Beam out.

Based on my crummy knowledge of the tricks, rapid fire missiles works best with Powerbeam. And since you use that on 3/4 baby sheegoths either you'd take the hit in fire rate by leaving the beam out, or slow down the initial kill by changing beams.

Then AFTER the Sheegoth battle you have to swap back to Wave Beam (assuming you changed to Power in the first place) to open the door.
Compared to the TAS you just showed, that's a weapon change's length in wasted time or that much time * samus' walk speed slowed down by not being able to boost.

It's awesome to see a wallcrawl get the Wave before the Sheegoth, but I think it's not going to be worth it since every second counts.

1. you don't start out in wave beam unless you hold C-right during the cutscene
2. you only kill one Sheegoth then go into a SW
3. if we actually did fight the sheegoths we could just tap C-right for a frame then morph :P (or switch to wave before the cutscene starts lol)
It would go like this:

- Enter Shorelines SW
- Wallcrawl to Chapel of the Elders
- Ceiling warp in the back to get Wavebeam
- Kill the Baby Sheegoth to your right when starting the fight.
- Enter Chapel of the Elders SW
- Wallcrawl back to Shorelines
- Door warp into Shorelines.

it might actually be faster to wall crawl through shorelines too, but you'd need something to dash on, maybe the enemy in the room before or one of those Ice things :P
