Hi guys,

just want to introduce you to a interessting project: Metroid Multiplayer.

A german dude is programming a game using graphics/sprites from SM.
The game is developed in C++ and DirectX.
It looks much like Smash Brothers with a one screen large map on which players can fight each other as Samus.

The new thing is, that you can use the whole equipment like screw attack, morphball, speedboosters, wall jumping and so on and her complete armory of course.

Features:
- free configurable weapon system (beams and rocktes with adjustable parameters like firing rate or damage per shot etc)
- gravity gun to use objects as shield or throw them on your opponent
- new abilities like lightspeed-rush and a jetpack

First the players choose there weapons, abilities etc and configure them to their needs allowing for individual playing style.
The gameplay is thought to be fast and actionpacked.

Sorrowly these are german boards, but you can find some screenshots which will give you a better impression than my english... :-)
Thread title:
It's weird/funny/ironic...  I saw this topic a few days ago (on another computer -away from home)... and I had thought of a Super Metroid in 32 bit or a higher resolution earlier that same day.  :o

I can't read German...  But the idea of this isn't my cup of tea.  Others may like it though.  I'd be too nervous!  :x

But yeah, it is very wonky, judging by the screenshots.
Well the backgrounds graphics look like they've been....  Super Eagle'ified, or something. :-?  Not that it needs it of course.  Very Happy
Super Metroid multiplayer would be fantastic.

Actually it can have 32 bit, cause its DirectX.
But if I got the author right, he has not redrawn all the graphics, but simply copy-pasted them.
Maybe in some beta phase he replaces them with fresh high resolution textures etc.

sum1 should make a multiplayer super metroid death match game. with all the same weapons as the original. like MPH.
and also a level editor.

that would be awsome
Hmm, there is a guy who messages me pretty often on youtube, who is working on a project that sounds exactly like this... perhaps it's the same guy.

Yep, very likely it is the same guy.

On his youtube page you may find some previews of his work: http://de.youtube.com/user/SMTac
Check it out, the graphics are not polished, but the controls are awesome!

Exactly this is the goal of the project.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'll try it at least.
Thx horscht(i) for posting this on m2k2. Do ya remember me? I think jurisnake will make an awesome Game. As you know, he would use more Frames for the Sprites than in Super Metroid. I can't wait longer for playing this ^^
