also, having Snake replace the place Falcon had in SSBM (being close to Samus) makes me get worried about the future of the F-Zero series even more (are they totally axing the series from SSBB and overall?)

Oh my.
Would anyone actually miss the character of Captain Falcon, if he were removed from SSBB?
I know my brother would: Falcon was one of his favorites. He liked Falcon, Ness, and Falco the most from what I rememeber. We haven't played Smash Bros in ages, so I can't honestly rememeber if there was somebody else he used to play as much as those three.
But does he like the character, or does he like the moveset?

There's not too much character that comes through in the SB games.

I hate the F-Zero character universe.

I've nothing but love for the gameplay, however.
I think he likes the character himself. I honestly can't remember right now. (Only been up for 20 minutes, you know.)

Either way, I know he'd be disapointed if Falcon wasn't in Brawl, and that's all that matters from this end. (But he is interested in seeing MetaKnight and a little interested in Pit, so there may be hope.)

i'm just too paranoic because there hasn't been an F-Zero announcement in like 2-3 years by now. it's a bad feeling when one of your favorite franchises slips into the forgotten graveyard.

I have to admit, if I had a pwned .gif, now would be the time to use it.

The trailers for this game looked good, but I'm wondering how they'll get some of the more involved elements to work, like grabbing hatch controls and the such, or lock on (If there'll be any)
For the controls, you walk up to it, and the fire button becomes the "grab" button.  Then you do what you have to do.

For lock on, that's still the Z trigger.

Honestly SSB wouldn't be SSB without the Falcon Punch. ^_^

Hm...?

A = Shoot
B = Jump
C = Morph
Z = Lock
1 & 2 = Map & Menu?
D-pad = Visors (ship, scan, x-ray) & missiles
Hatch controls = Nunchuk (accelerometer) whilst locked on to hatchables
Grapple beam = Nunchuk (accelerometer) whilst locked on to grappables

After Prime do you think Retro Studios will still do the 3D Metroid games?
I think not, and I hope not.

Why? They did an excellent job on Metroid Prime and a good job on
Metroid Prime 2: Echos.

You're new here, I see.  Echoes is -- for reasons I can't fathom despite knowing exactly what they are -- really unpopular at m2k2.  Don't let that stop you from calling it a great game.  I don't.

Why?

Because they want to do other shit.  Rumors have it that some sort of RPG is in the works.  Then again, those same rumors state that they may be developing it for not the Wee.

I know that MP2 isn't that good of a Metroid game compaired to MP1 but it was still great.

In your opinion, at least. To me, that's very debatable.

Expanding on 13M13's reply with a picture of the placard with the control scheme which accompanied the Fusion Tour demo:

Whoever made this up knows very little about the Prime games - A button multi-LOL, "shoot" = missile.

what about + and -? those could be better menu and map buttons and can leave 1 % 2 open for other useful things.

Exactly. I hope Nintendo can make their own Metroid games. I hope Retro will get a chance to grow as a company and do some original stuff. It'd suck to be a game developer and be forced to work on the same IP for the same company all your life.

Change will lead to the better, as well. Their experience with Metroid will carry over to whatever their next project will be, and the resulting game may turn out very interesting.

Well, of course it's debatable -- it's an opinion.  In the end, whether a game is "good" will always be a matter of taste.  I just think m2k2's standards for Metroid games are... weird, to say the least.  It's impossible to please us on purpose.

Indeed. Although I don't think that applies to the whole thing here; I think enough of it stems from the game itself too. I'm a big happy camper when it comes to these things, but even I felt MP2 was missing a certain something MP1 had. (Not that I personally thought it was fatal, but...)
i think that if you look at the game technically (i.e. number of secret worlds, number of game killing glitches), it's obvious that the game was rushed. having said that, there's nothing that says the game itself should be seen as inferior directly due to that, but i personally just can't shake this greed/corporate slavery feel the game has due to it. metroid prime was a work of art to me and metroid prime 2 was a money grab to me.
Last Prime? Yes. Last 3D Metroid game? No.
