I just completed my post-play survey of Other M at ClubNintendo.  SCATHING to say the least.  I just hope that sakamoto's mom is still alive, otherwise some of my comments would be too inappropriate.

So no matter which way you slice it, this game is about a robot gaining emotions...?

I guess.  Then again, I don't really know what the Japanese people saw Samus as.  Maybe Sakamoto thought people tsaw her as a robot, and has actually said in interviews 'she's not a robot, she's human,' so it makes me wonder.

This is the m2k2-est thing.
So you're saying, because I gave a relatively positive review of the game when I did my survey, I don't "fit in" around here anymore huh?

Too bad, I'm staying.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
i bet they don't even read those surveys. they're there just to make people feel their opinion is taken into account.

@PH: i think you're letting popular opinion get the best of you. you can still like the game and be fine here. just look at the mp2 people. other people hating mp2 hasn't made us stop liking it.
I liked the game aswell. :P

The "too bad" part was meant to be taken as a joke. It's just little comments like that make it sound like there's supposed to be only one accepted viewpoint on Other M these days, even though I know that's not what's really being said.

Obviously I'm in the minority but I don't care since no matter what anyone else says my opinion of Other M, from both a gameplay and story perspective, (Samus' personality included) probably won't change anytime soon.  There's more than one Metroid game and they all have their fans, and I just happen to be in one of those groups now. I've been here too long to let something small like this make me leave.
No doubt some of you saw/heard Bill O'Reilly (while a guest on the View) say that Muslims killed us on 9/11... Joy and Whoppi walked off the set of their own show. Of course that was just plain dopey of them. ((Due to political correctness today - the women expected Bill to say Muslim Extremest or Radicals... after almost a decade, everyone knows who did what)).

I say this to point out how boring this forum would be if we all held the same views of the Metroid series. I don't want anyone to leave... myself and Prime Hunter like Other M while Opium seems to hate the game (is that too strong?) The differences of opinion "make" the forum what it is. I respect Opium's opinion. I've made a jest here and there on this site but all in fun.
ANKOKU
No, I'm pretty sure Hate is too weak of a word, in Opium's case.
red chamber dream
it was a reasonably fun game that i'm never going to play again.
Ark -- I laughed out loud at your comment. It's the tone, the finality of the way you say it. This galvanizes what I said; the different views make the forum worth reading and contributing.

Yeah it would be difficult to actually read them all, and impossible to actually care about them all. At the very least they probably have a database consisting of a whole bunch of properties of the game, and just do data entry to form basic graphs to show what things people liked or didn't like.  The multiple choice/rating questions are tabulated electronically while the free-form fields would only be read to confirm the reasoning behind those ratings.  Like if 99% of people said a game was great, they would want to know what people liked about it, and vice versa.  If certain things come up consistently then it's very important data.

They stole my name for that one, I tell you! I'll never like it because of that! laugh new

But in all seriousness, while Hunters may be on the bottom of my list, I still enjoyed it enough when I played it two months ago. Probably had something to do with the fact that it had been a few years since the last time I had picked it up, but the combat at least was still good. (Other than fighting the same bosses 4 times, that is.) But yeah, as far as Metroid games go Hunters is not the one I'd go to first.

And in all fairness, I still rank a good percentage of the series higher than I do Other M. (It's right about in the middle for me.) I just happen to be one of those people who doesn't have it sitting at the bottom of the barrel like most here seem to be doing.
