Opium -- the room you refer to, is it the one where a "body" is suspended in a tank with 3 red metroids with other red (or tallon) metroids in isolated tanks. There is a pirate skiff that takes off when entering the room - right? Infant metroids out of cocoons... I don't recall ever seeing this. I'll be paying attention. Thanks for writing.

Yes, that is indeed the room I'm talking about.  The coccoons with the infant metroids are not there the first time you visit that room.  Like I said, I'm not sure which event triggers their appearance.  I scan them during my item / sky temple key cleanup after getting the light suit.

For 100% runs I usually do a big circle in light and dark world of agan wastes once i have the light suit to clear up all the items. The cacoons and the infants will definately be there.

those infant metroids definitely show up after the first visit. that was one of the last scans i located originally.
ok -- I'm not finished with this latest game but here's what happened:
== I went through the particular room in question on the first pass (just like we all do)
== With the Light Suit, I happen to enter the room the back way - meaning on the upper level. I get the missile expansion, kill the Tallons but nothing else happens.
== I leave the room at the lower level and run thru the 3 door lasers, take out the 2 turrets then decide to go back into the room in question (at the lower level)
== The cocoons are there with baby metroids. I have never seen this before.
== Hopefully I can finish this game with 100% scans.

Thanks for all the help.

i actually forgot that metroid attack. that makes the infants appear on the 3rd visit minimum. no wonder it is so easy to miss them.
Fuckin' infant metroids!
those infants are cute...

I can't believe what happened:
== 96% scan going into final battle. I finish with 99%.
== try again only I thought to scan the white squiggly worms the mutated ing spits out. Nope. so 99% again. Odd that no music played during this fight - never had that before.
== take a close look at the logbook. I missed a Luminoth lore -- Torvus Falls. I look around and how I missed it is beyond me. this lore has the blue hologram and its near the lower level door that is in the big room with the spider ball boost ring fight (on the way to WSA)
== still 96% scan. when fighting the mutated ing, he runs to one side and with 3 legs in phazon and the back 2 on the floor. he gets stuck. Purple mist is coming out of all 5 legs. I blast, boost, PB... to no avail. I reset and went to bed.
== I just scanned 100% -- the credits are rolling now.

I can't believe how difficult this was. I need to scan 100% for MP and MP3. I imagine it will be just as difficult.
I don't believe I've ever got 100% scans on prime 3. I always miss something or other.

Funnily enough on my last playthrough of prime 2 I had 99%. I missed the harmony class drone, the orb that spit down electric littl bombs. Before that i missed a scan on Quadraxis twice, on two playthroughs., and before that i missed a dead luminoth scan near a sky temple key on temple grounds. I play on trilogy so it keeps all the scans you've done and carries them over to the next playthrough so you only have the ones you havn't scanned remaining.

Prime 1 is easy to find all scans though.

what sucks about mp1 is the logbook. it keeps things in a really weird order.

mp3 has a lot of random one-time scans and enemies that show up in very specific places. just check the pirates.

imo, mp2 had it the most balanced since it let you figure out what kind of scans you missed by how it grouped them and it had few missable scans outside bosses.
Running on MP... I noticed 2 things:

1) when going for the Charge Beam, the room Watery Hall Access (I think) has you going down a ramp/stairs to a flat part where a missile is behind the wall - this wall doesn't have a scan point (if it does, I couldn't see it - maybe I was too close). That said, I have no idea how the missile was discovered back in 2002.

2) I missed some Chozo Lore and decided to go back and look around... the Boost Ball room (or tower)... there is no way to go back in because the floating snow cones are gone. I don't know if there is anything to scan in here.

Needless to say I was not able to find a number of Log entries so I started a new game last night. I didn't get too far (the save at Magmoor).

You can still hear the expansion.
true -- but my guess is that when I (I can only speak for myself) played the first time (or two) it is likely that "the sound" didn't mean anything, and this assumes I even heard it since the water is toxic and you would have moved quickly to get back up the ramp. I'm guessing since I can't recall.
FYI -- in trying to scan 100% in MP, this is my 4th try... not sure why I have so much difficulty. All that is left is to find 1 missile exp for 100% pickup and to scan both forms of MP and I should have it. I know where all the missiles are but I can't recall which one I missed. My brain must be turning to dog mush.

I hate it when I have 99% and lose track of which items I've already gotten.  The last time I missed an expansion, it ended up being behind the Bendezium wall early on in Phazon Mines.
I had success and 100% scan allows for the viewing of Gallery 2.

So now that I have 100% scan with MP and MP2, I'll try MP3 but that should prove to really try my patience.
It will. Just take your time and be extremely thorough with every room, enemy and boss. If something changes with a boss like armour being knocked off or it changes shape etc, 9 times out of 10 it's something new to scan. If near the end of the game you find you've missed something (which I'll be very surprised if you havn't) just refer to game faqs. That helped me recently with a few I missed.
thanks -- the issue is one of trial and error. It's easy to scan everything in sight (so to speak) and take forever and then find that you missed a slew of entries.

I'll give it a try.
