Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
I switched to testing it on PAL. It's not a PAL only thing.
If you're hitting the ledge, you're not doing a standing shinespark. Try listening carefully. If you hear the start of a spinjump you jumped too early and may hit the ledge.

Surely if you've let go of direction, pressed and held R and your stopping, then pressing jump to activate shinespark means there will be no spin jump. So I run, split second let go of direction, hit and hold R and then jump, for the shinespark. All this takes place in less than quarter of a second. well the R and jump is.
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
What do you have against admitting you're doing spinjumps? Have you tried listening for the spinjump sound?
Also, holding R before you let go of the direction is faster.

I thought L / R without a direction held stops you completely on the first frame.
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
Yes. Which means you should already be pressing L/R when you let go of the direction, not press it after. Unless I misunderstood and that's what Behemoth is doing already.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
It sounds to me like he's running, releasing and (quickly) pressing R followed (almost) immediately by jump, which is the standard sequence of commands for the diagonal spark.
I have nothing against it. The escape music and explosions sounds really dont help for listening out for it for something so minute... as you know when you let go of direction after running samus will slow to a halt on her own and I press R within that part, but only just after I let go of direction. then its followed by jump, all within a very tight time frame.

You may be pressing jump slightly before R, which would result in a barely-noticeable spin jump first.
but im not though because it would mean pressing jump again to shinespark. which Im certainly not doing. Anyway this is all probably pointless trying to figure out what's going on here.
coral to complement blue
Nah, because you'd still be holding it in.

Yes. Because we already know. You're doing spinjumps before your shinesparks.

Oh cool that actually worked. <3 Taiga
no no no ive let go of R. im saying its pointless because this is turning into a hairy situation
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
If you let go of R by the time you hit jump you wouldn't do a diagonal shinespark.

What actually worked? >_>

I decided after I posted I wanted to quote yours for emphasis. I clicked the edit button on my post, then clicked the quote button on your post and it put the quote in the edit post rather than a new post.

Oh, cool. Taiga ftw
let me make this clear. Jump is the last button I'm pressing after still holding R
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
let me make this clear. You're still doing spinjumps.

Why don't you just show us an smv? :P
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
Because you aren't in a still pose yet.
So what your saying is. If i'm still stopping by the stop on a dime trick, then a spin jump will occur. it doesnt. I just tried it. coz R is being held followed by jump

remember dash has been released

dash has been released before pressing down for the flash for the shinespark. so when i begin running Im going default speed when you just press direction. this is key to what I'm talking about. uugggghhhhhh

This is clearly a lie.
Do you want me to take the code apart and show you why you're still doing a spinjump?

also

Yes, this is what I'm saying. Yes, it does. It doesn't matter much that it only lasts for a single frame and you have to listen for the sound to even tell that it happened, it still happened.

Dash has no importance whatsoever.
