Brinstar and Kraid's hideout from the first game, and the title theme of course.

Ridley's hideout, upper Brinstar and lower Brinstar from Super Metroid. And the... second Maridia tune. I think it's the second one.

Parasite Queen's theme from Prime, as well as the Credits theme (I'm in LOVE with that one!) and the Artifact Temple tune. For some reason I like the Chozo Ghost battle theme as well. It's just really well made. And, a few other tunes I can't remember...

MMcLean, you like Flaagrha music? I hate it. It's so boring.

I like magmoor caverns music and uhh... something else that I can't think or right now.

Do you own PAL of NTSC?  PAL's music gives you more.  NTSC doesn't repeat properly, thus making it boring.

I own NTSC. I went back and listened to the PAL version music. The only difference I can hear is that PAL seems to have more music. (It still sounds kinda lame IMO. Maybe if it played the cooler parts more often.)

I don't know what it means by not repeating properly because I can't really tell. Does it skip of play too early or something?

Ready and willing.
PAL's music is longer because our bug makes the game start the track over before it's halfway done. That's what's meant by not repeating properly.
Ok. I see. Anyone know why that bug happens.

Er... cause there's an error in the code? It's really not one of those bugs that's anything more than a misplaced number. Prolly had a different track with a different length before, changed it to this, but forgot to change the track length.
I guess Retro wasn't able to fix all the bugs in the game before it came out. However, they had enough time before the PAL version came out, so fixed that up.
Feel free to call me crazy, but I prefer the short version by miles. It just sounds like something more fit for a first boss. I like the long version until that baseball stadium stuff starts, then it becomes insanely overdone.

It would be like giving him Omega Pirate's music.
I've always loved the music that's played in the second half of Brinstar in super. You know, the area that's near Norfair and Meridia.
That creepy harp with the low strings providing bass. And then the piano comes in. Wow.. Come to think of it, about 99% of Super Metroid's music is awesome.

I also like Norfair's theme in the original game. It's got that weird hypnotic feel too it. BTW, what's that song in? You can easily transcribe it to 6/8, but If you listen to it from the game it seems to be in something else.
I like the Frigate Interior and the battle against Metroid Prime 1st form.
I like a lot, but the ones that win are...

1st - Brinstar

2nd - Crashed Frigate Core

3rd - Escape from B.S.L

I like how they made the remix in the B.S.L.
Cook of the Sea
Oh yeah, I forgot my favorite Fusion track.  Sector 4, the upper levels.  Second place goes to the Spider Boss (Is that the one that people call "Yakuza"?  )  theme.  At least you got to rock out while dying over and over.  An honorable mention goes to the SA-X theme.  Anyone else catch yourself doing any or all of the following when the SA-X appeared and suddenly you found yourself running like crazy?

-Breathing fast
-Not breathing
-Heart rate speeding noticably up
-Heart rate slowing noticably down
-Tensing up madly on your poor GBA
-Having the screaming heebie-jeebies

And I think at that one point where you see it in Sector 6 and it uses the Power Bomb, pretty much everyone walked forward and fell through right in fron of it on your first try.
Norfair from Metroid seems to be, bizarre as it may seem, 13/8 with the last few measures being 6/8 ..... wither that or (slow) 6/8 with a beat-long pause every 2 measures...

This is a song I'm becoming quite fond of. It's a remix of Super Metroid on www.ocremix.org

The site you posted that URL for is blocking direct links, Sky.  How about a manual walkthrough to where you are?
Ok, goto www.ocremix.org then you will be given a set of letters from A - Z at the top of the screen.

Pick S

scroll down to Super Metroid. Next to it should be a list of songs. Choose 'Four Little Metroids'

Hit the BUTTON Download to the left of the page.

Then click the link for it.

These guys get some bandwidth problems I think, so sometimes it doesnt work (the download that is). Keep trying and it should work eventually.
I think my favorites are Green and Red Brinstar from SM and Norfair from ZM. I also like Four Little Metroids (skynes posted a link). And pretty much anything at www.metroidmetal.com (Main theme and Norfair are the best though).
Ridley fight from super metroid OR track 15 on MZM sound test... I think they're the same, right? I think this song is also in other places but i'm not sure.

You mean this track which plays in these "red rooms" and at the glass tube which can be destroyed with a power bomb on the way from brinstar to norfair?

Best track ever, its so sad that they didn't adopt it for Prime.

For me its the track which represents perfectly for what Metroid stands. Exploration of a deep, creepy, sad and dark world.

Instead they used this ridley music for magmoor caverns which annoys after 2 minutes like hell.  :(

four little metroids is a great song, i love the thing as well.
I highly suggest you also check out:
Zebesian Midnight (my fave metroid remix ever.)
regular metroid: MetalTroid (second half is similar to metroid metal, but better IMO)
some of the stuff is great.  (they remixed the entire soundtrack of super metroid)

I highly suggest you listen to every metroid OCremix, there are also a very high number of non-metroid OCremix's that are completely amazing ( like TERRA IN BLACK *cough* grab this song*cough*.  and some that aren't, but it all depends on perosnl taste i suppose.

I thought i posted this here before, but i guess i didn't.  computer must have froze or something.

I'm a huge fan of OCremix, i have over 600 OCremix's downloaded, and i have about 700 posts on their forums.  (I highly suggest you DON'T start reading the forum.)
Get the Samus Theme, orchestrated.  You'll find everything you love all wrapped up in one.

I believe it goes from the SM intro music to the "glass tube" music, then to the full Samus theme without darker overtones.

It's very nice.

SM still has the best music (can't go wrong, not even with Brinstar's crazy brass thing), but Prime did an excellent job of modernizing it in a tasteful way. (IMO).
Metroid: Title Theme is a great one. But my favorite is Magmoor Caverns.

Dido.

No.  No goddammit.  You're all wrong.

The best music from any Metroid title ever is the NEW ITEM MUSIC.  It's only like 13 notes, but it's pretty much the sole reason I got addicted to Super Metroid (the game also rocks :)

though the SA-X always reminds me of The Terminator.

Quite the opposite for me.  When I saw the Terminatrix in T3 raise her right arm and it unfolded into a giant cannon, I just about stood up and yelled (to the cinema) "F*CKING SAMUS WANNABE!"
The Norfair song from the original.
Best song for Metroid ever composed.

I didn't think of Samus at all in that movie. The whole time I was like, "Man that chick's too hot to be a Terminator."

As for my favorite song, I liked lower Norfair until I hit Magmoor Caverns, which I then promptly switched because it's an actual good remix (OMG!!!). And now that I watched the Metroid Prime 2 trailer so much, I like the MP Credits :P.
