either way it looks like smb 3 is not it.

pokemon red blue and green are not one game. D=
red chamber dream
I would count Red and Blue as the same game, but definitely not Green. What I would not do, however, is count the Game Boy and other handhelds as consoles.
coral to complement blue
Let me get this straight. Super Metroid is not one of the top 40 best sellers of the SNES, BUT DISNEY'S MAGICAL QUEST STARRING MICKEY IS?!
red chamber dream
It's a far better game imo.

dude.  play it.  its incredible.
For how much everybody loves Super Metroid, you'd think that there would've been more copies of it sold in the world, huh? Not even a million...

I know we've discussed Metroid sales before, but seeing which games sold over a million, making them higher on the SNES rankings than Super Metroid, makes me wonder how Super ever got as much attention as it did. (Had to be because of that old commercial with the dog, right?  laugh new)

What really surprises me though is the fact that Yoshi's Island managed to sell 4 million copies. It had always been in my mind that of the two games, Super Metroid was more popular than Yoshi's Island had ever been. Guess I was wrong on that one.

Is this worldwide sales? Because, well, you know...
I'm... not surprised. Super Metroid challenges you with puzzles and bosses and exploration - games like Yoshi's Island are games you can just pick up and play. Of course the latter would sell better, even if Super Metroid is a better game by far.

Just thank Retro for making Super Metroid cool again, even if it could never compete with Zelda on the grounds of sales.

Yoshi's Island >>>>>>> Super Metroid.

AAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUGHHHHHHHH
In terms of each respective series, Yoshi's Island and Super Metroid are the best at what they do. I love both games, but Super holds a special place in my collection.

Edit: Ok, now I'm helping in crashing my own topic...
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
yoshi's island is not a casual friendly game. i lent it to people many times and everyone said it was too complicated. they preferred any SMB over it.

also, sales don't define quality and sometimes defy popularity. you can see games with lots of popularity and "bad" sales (SM) or forgotten games with high sales (SML. lol no one ever talks about that and it sold at SMW/SMB3 levels)
