The 5th movie down has a part where the demonstrator writes "I beat Nate at Metroid 2" on the screen, does this mean there is a new speed run king of Metroid 2? Or is this unrelated?
Thread title:
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
I think he meant that he beat a guy he knows named "Nate" at Metroid Prime 2's multiplayer.  He didn't have room to write Prime, and everyone there knew what he meant.  Besides--our Nate doesn't speed run Metroid II, so far as I know.

Unless Radix's real name is also Nate.

I thought his name was Nolan.

You'll note the word "Unless". I don't/didn't know Radix's real name.
Oh, it's that guy
In my opionin, he probably means Nate Bhildorf (or something like that), his name is in the MP credits, the ZM credits...and just about every nintendo game i've beten...I mean, the guy in that video works for nintendo, doesn't he?
Nate did do a speed run of the demo though... he's probably talking about our Nate.
The weird thing is that everybody there seemed to know what he was talking about when I viewed the video: Not sure if anyone else thinks that though...
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Maybe because this Nate had done a previous presentation?
Unfortunately, when someone says "metroid", most people think "metroid prime", and not the original series. :(

Well, when you're at a presentation previewing the newest games coming down the pipe, of course you'll think of Prime...
I'm pretty sure he's talking about Nate Bihldorff.

It could be Nolan Nate Pflug Rolling Eyes.
But uh, isnt it TLM thats doing that presentation Question
dude, you are so toast when child protective services gets here. you will NOT talk about nolan's and my child in that eye-rolling manner.

actually, fuck cps. *punches ekarderif*
lol no way
I assumed he meant mp2, and Nate Bihldorff is in like every metroid game's credits... wouldn't be too much of a stretch. If only he'd put a last name initial. :p

I'm not sure sure which Nate, but Bihldorff is such an awesome last name, so I hope it's him.

Njhakne is just as horrible to pronounce for English speakers.
Yes, considering Nate's last name is Jahnke.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Go Nate Yankee.

I'm just glad no one is asking me to pronounce any of these names, or I'd be lost. My last name is Groves. Easy.

Do'h. I thought I was spelling some of it wrong, but I also got confused and used nate's nick rather than his last name... but you could have figured that out, I guess.

Look on the bright side; you didn't spell Nate wrong.  :o
if anyone's interested, my family pronounces it "JOHN-key" (or sometimes "JONG-key"), but that's just some mutilated, americanized pronunciation that started at ellis island ... the original german pronunciation is "YAWN-kuh", and i've started to use that a lot.

if anyone's still interested, i believe the first part (the jahn) is like jan in german or john in english, short for johann, which supposedly comes out of hebrew and means "god is merciful", and the second part (the ke) is like the -ky on the end of polish names, so supposedly my family came to germany from the east at some point. the europeans still have this illusion of white people belonging to particular "races" depending on where they are found (i.e. in which country), though, so i am technically "german" (and could claim german citizenship if i wanted to for some reason), even though in all likelihood i am "actually" polish (or something like that).
If any of you were able to pronounce Svanlund right, I'd give you a pat on the back.

By the by, when I was at my dad's place earlier this summer, I noticed a name tag on the apartment door next to his... which was [Insert letter here] Jahnke. I wonder how big the chance is..
