Use \ before commas in usernames
i would say it just how it's spelled (with germanic vowels) ... like "svawn loond" in english. and heh, yeah, there are a few other jahnkes in the us, but most of them say it yawn-key instead of john-key. i would need to know where this was to try to determine the chances of me being related to the person.

I've pronounced you name "Yarng-kuh" since I had a Yoshi-esque revelation at your username.

Ya r ng-kuh?

Uuuh, kind of, I suppose.  It's kinda like "Yarn-kuh", but I can't separate those two enough without creating an "arng" kind of sound.
fascinating ... must be your dialect. reminds me of patrick stewart saying 'mr. dater' on star trek instead of 'mr. data.'

Lol, my Englishness gets in the way.  I can pronounce it without the "ng", but not without trying specifically to.  I also happen to enjoy pronouncing things from other languages, so things like your name are an endless source of amusement to me.  :D

I like German names. I know someone with the last name Szewczyk and lots of people pronounce it wrong.
That sounds Russian.
soaking through
Indeed, that sounds more Polish/Russian than German.

The name Gajowniczek > you.
red chamber dream
It is German, but it does sound Russian.

And I won't even try to pronounce Gajowniczek.
Quote from Arkarian:
Szewczyk

that is definitely not german.

Hey, that's what she told me, I believe. Maybe I'm getting mixed up, because I have friends with last names from many languages, none of which I speak. I trust you though, Nate...don't you speak German?
red chamber dream
Cool..I've always wanted to learn German, and Japanese. The only languages I know are English, Spanish, and a little Italian.

Now try "Lövgren"
sounds sort of like lurv gren in "standard" american english. :/
loads of Swedes always pronounce my last name wrong the first time:
It's Jutler but instead they pronounce it as "Juttler" :x

Quote from rox:
If any of you were able to pronounce Svanlund right, I'd give you a pat on the back.

This thread sure went off-topic.

I never really liked French too much, but I really like Spanish. Probably because I like Mexico and Central America so much.

[sarcasm=100/100]I know. The only cool French person was Napoleon, but that's only because he reminds me of the movie Napoleon Dynamite.[/sarcasm]
