PB shields activate after 120 frames of charging in both versions. For NTSC, that's 2 seconds. For PAL, that's 2.4 seconds.
The RAM address for charge counter is 7E0DC2, 1 byte, unsigned.
Trivia:
- beam is considered being charged when the address increments up to 60;
- bomb spread is considered being charged when it increments up to 59;
- PB shields activate at 120;
- supercharging bomb spread can take up to 260 frames from the moment of pressing the trigger.
