AQA Shinespark Trick/Secret Message

I tried it with save states once, but I put the save button too close to the jump button and got all the way to the second platform from the top, lost and (accidentally) saved. I had tried the normal way, but after 3 hours, I got bored.

I can not, for the life of me, get the secret message the alternate way. Shinesparking apparently isn't so impossible for me though. Weird. I've done it in half the runthoughs I've had (including the first ones I did when I didn't even know about it).

btw, if those were the greatest minutes of the game in your opinion, you should try the early pb trick. Quite fun.

try lunging left immediately before you fire the missile. you will also need to be at the highest point of your jump when you do it. keep varying when you lunge left and fire and you should get it in a few minutes.

hmm... i achieved the secret message by shooting the spiky monster with an ice missile. ive been stuck cuz i didnt know i had to go back to the data room and get the diffusion missiles Embarassed

I've done it. I think it was in my :52 run, but then again, maybe it wasn't, I don't think so, dang. Well, I've done it. Shinespark way.

A tip for someone that wants to try it: Always hold "B" to charge your beam. Or you'll accidently jump into an enemy and loose your shinespark.

I seriously doubt that. If you did, you should do a run without the secret message and record it, then send it in to SDA. You'd have a world record.

I too seriously doubt it. But for about half of that run, I did have WR quality on my segments.

I'm working more on Metroid right now, every once in a while I pull out the SM emu just to randomly run through it...but seeing the speedruns hurts my pride and I give up. :P

I did it shinespark style. It took me weeks to do it, though. It wouldnt have but when i got in the last room that your saving it for i would get nervous. I guess you could say that i cheated though, because at points in the next to last room i would morph, jump and lay a power bomb, then shinespark into the same ramp again, then continiue.
