Hmm, actually, I think that SM with power grip is not SM, it just sounds... too realistic. I'd rather make a wall jump to climb the upper platform if I had a choice, it's just more beautiful.
But I have to ask : Will your run be anti-sequencebreaker, like Metroid Legacy (I didn't test Limit)? Or will it be possible to make a second walkthrough, with infinite bomb, one-wall jump etc...? Actually I don't care about the choice Rolling Eyes , I just want to say that even Legacy is sequence breakable, so if you want to be strict with the itinerary, I hope you checked out some things, Afterall, you're in m2k2...
Oh, and did the PM work?
Hey hey, I just noticed the PM, so sorry =P

As for my hack, for 'first' time playthrough, I do have one inteded path that is pretty strictly forced, I just hope players will play the game naturally the first time, then look for other ways around....

there are parts that will be breakable, but some events are tied together, like getting hi jump, it cannot be done without going through a LONG series of events....
Mister ...
Yeah, I understand the power grip thing and why you can't do it.  No big deal.

The escape!? ooooooohhhhhhh, sounds exciting  :D

Let me know when you are finished with your hack, I'd like to try it out.  I lack good challenges right now.
Will there be shinesparking..?
Shine sparking for what?
How easy/difficult would it be to implement ballsparking? I wouldn't think it would be as tough as trying to implement something like the Power Grip, but it certainly wouldn't be easy, either. I would love to see more shinespark puzzles in the Metroid games -- but not insanely difficult like that stupid secret message in Fusion.
It wouldn't be insanley difficult, but it wouldn't be needed either.

I always found ball sparking kinda unnatural looking...  so unfortunatley it will not be in the hack... this is SM, so there aren't any abilities from the other games that I have implimented, only gameplay elements, Level design, physics and such)  no major aditions to what samus can do.

I don't like to brag but I'm currently making the most complex Super Metroid Hack TO DATE named  Super Metroid: Redesign (follow the link in my signature)  this hack has a project release date of June '06.

It's on the first page of that topic.
How hard would it be to make Samus run about 1.25 times faster, or get bombs to detonate about 1.25 times faster?
I don't know much about hex, but I'm guessing you would half to jump from a speed of 1 to double speed of 2..
Its very easy to change speeds of samus and times of bombs to detonate, for the bombs you can use SMILE.  For the smeep od samus, thats tricky, you have to find the speed vlaue in ROM, which I used to have, but no longer do unfortunatley.  I left no real need to speed her up, and kinda disreguarded it =P

you might wan to ask kejardon, or check his page here on m2k2, he might have documents outlining such things
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
Nope, I don't have any documents outlining them at the moment.
I could find them decently fast, but I'm afraid at the moment I don't have them documented in any form.
Well, there are some very nice RAM addresses in the Memory map, like Bomb Count, and stuff.
l'appel du vide
Key word = RAM
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
Tracer = Ram --> Rom
Like I said, I can find them pretty easy. :P And I guess I should be updating the ram map, I've got a lot of new stuff recorded now.
Aye, I'll check that out I guess...
If only SMILE would work now..
l'appel du vide
Well, duh.  Of course you can, Kejardon.  ;)  But unless you're familiar with tracing (and whatever else), knowing the RAM addresses doesn't illuminate any obvious possibilities (but I'm workin' on it!).
Well I was playing limit, but the grapple room on wrecked ship just makes me sick; it's not difficult, it's impossible! I tried it with savestates and it did not even work, I die all the time...
Concerning Legacy, I try to find the grapple but I think I'm gonna be mad of this, too!
So, about Redesign, do whatever you want with it, put the difficulty of Legacy, the staging of Limit, but please not as hard as limit, or no such exploration needed in legacy, please, I would be REALLY grateful...
If you saw my videw, while my grappliing portion of the level looks similar to being as difficult as limit, it was design in such a way that samus aiming up and right will almost always get a grapple block.

I do have a portion of a grapple puzzle when you girst get it, it too is long and a If you miss you die, BUT again, it weas designed to be "convenient" when randomly latching onto grapple blocks.

I HATE impossible puzzles, and for the most part the game will be rather straight forward, and not difficult at all, LONG is what it will be however =)

I read the first page, and didn't see that.  Thanx anyways... or whatever.

NAaah it wasn't, the one in limit alternates with being damaged every sec if you don't make a choice and pikes and water everywhere. Yours seem to be hard, but not that hard, well, hard as I like ^^! If the other one you mentionned is random, then I'll try at least not to savestate.

Then you didn't read it, but if it is not on the first page of "any good super metroid hacks?", on the second topic of Drewseph, alias Siegfriedxx, and at the second paragraph of the post, then you are right.
Now that I think of it...
Please : Make save slots numerous, or at least make them... in the right place, you see? I don't want to savestate, you know, this kinda... kills the game, because it's getting a little bit frustrating to try again a thing that is 1 sec long 1000 times...
Sorry to double post by the way; after all I might enjoy it with savestates, but it's better if I discover it like the first time I played SM. I hope you understand.

So, uh, don't use them?
PAGE BREAKER
Ready and willing.
I think what he's saying is don't put the save stations too far apart.
Of course not, I do try my best to keep them in the "right" places
Okay then, thanks a lot.
