other than Sess, i don't really know if anyone's in the process of recording a 1% fusion run. I'd really like to see it since i'd like to try a 1% game of my own, however, even if i could finish it (which looks like it'd be quite difficult), i doubt i'd get a decent time. Is anyone planning on doing one anytime soon?
Thread title:
I have an emulator run around here somewhere. You'll need VBA 1.71, the BIOS file and a Metroid Fusion rom to watch it, however.
I'm still in the process of completing a 1% single segment run, though Yakuza has been being more of a PITA than usual as of late, so I've been taking a semi-break for sanity's sake.

Farthest I've made it so far is Ridley (actually the Core-X after Ridley died), so I know I can do it, just need a little luck.

Granted, I'm still waiting for Nate to get my 100% normal MZM run up, so I probably wouldn't be sending the tape off that soon even if I had completed it.
no need to worry about holding off sending me tapes. it looks like that, even if you sent the [nonexistant] tape today, i wouldn't get it until long after your zm single seg were up (looks like it will happen sometime tomorrow).

Phew....I thought it got lost in the mail or something...honestly it wouldn't suprise me, seeing as this is something of mine  Wink

Besides, I probably won't have the 1% single segment done for a while...I still haven't been able to master Yakuza yet (I actually have better luck with Nightmare at this point) and he's basically filling in while the Reaper is taking a vacation. Heck, I've even grown to like the SA-X chase right after Yakuza...I haven't died to him once yet (granted now that I've said that I'll die to him next time I take down Yakuza  Rolling Eyes )
personally, i have no idea how any sane person could even consider what you're doing.

keep it up; it'll be the most awesome thing ever when it's done.

Now I never recall mentioning that I was sane at any time on the forums  Twisted Evil

You forgot about me Nate.

Or did you.  Wink

I would have really done it if I hadn't been starting college near the end of my real runs. That would have been something I could've finished sooner, if I hadn't started them about 3 months after I received the GBP.

I'm such a procrastinator.  Crying or Very sad
Was it really three weeks? I didn't think it was THAT long. I took a few days break from giant plant, because I didn't get a single four jump one in like, four days. I'll start trying again either today or tomorrow. I won't be able to do much speed running at all next week, because my parents are going out of town, and I'm spending the week at my friends house :) .
Here's my current stats:
(Place where I died: Taped Time - Attempts/Deaths - Success rate)
Blobs in Sector 2: 15 minutes - 52 attempts/1 death - 98% success
Serris: 25 minutes - 51 attempts/3 deaths - 94% success
Side-Hopper in Sector 3: 30 minutes - 48 attempts/1 death - 98% success
Ice-X in Sector 6: 35 minutes - 47 attempts/1 death - 98% success
Mega-X: 35 minutes - 46 attempts/15 deaths - 67% success
Space Pirate Gauntlet: 60 minutes - 31 attempts/1 death - 97% success
Yakuza: 65 minutes - 30 attempts/18 deaths - 40% success
1 hit kill Wasps: 65 minutes - 12 attempts/2 deaths - 83% success
SA-X chase in Sector 2: 65 minutes - 10 attempts/2 death - 80% success
Aqua Pirates in Sector 5: 70 minutes - 8 attempts/2 death - 75% success
Nightmare: 75 minutes - 6 attempts/5 deaths - 17% success
Ridley: 90 minutes - 1 attempt/1 death - 0% success
Total Attempts: 52
Total Time: 46 hours, 15 minutes
stand in the left corner facing left and shoot charged shots (or any remaining missiles, obviously) straight up? apologize if you've already considered it.

it's not fast, but imo unlikely you'll be hit more than twice standing there. iirc it's three hits to kill you?
Actually I stand in the right corner facing left doing just that (I was doing it from the left side but right after he switches forms there's always a fireball there, so I switched sides). The main problem occurs when he decides to a major Ridley and just hover over my head.

Actually I thought of an idea last night that I didn't get a chance to test out. I'm gonna see if it works today.

EDIT: Just re-read what Nate posted as a Yakuza strategy and realized it isn't the same thing as I've been doing. I may have to give that a try since the idea I thought of last night doesn't look like it's gonna work.
Well, I tried Nate's suggestion and that definitely WILL work, provided he ain't being a total Ridley and Space Jumping into me.

BTW, it isn't necessarily 3 hits = death. It really depends on what he's doing when he hits you. If he's just kind of floating (just came out of space jump and spat something at you, but hasn't Space Jumped again) he only does like 28 damage. If he's space jumping then it 60ish damage, and the thing he spits does about 60ish as well I think.
well, i've started my own 1% game (not really a speedrun), and most of it has been pretty easy so far. However, I've gotten to nightmare, and things have gotten a little difficult. My question to you guys is, do you use the same strategy Sess uses in his emulated video? When its in real time without all that emulated slowdown/lag, its way more difficult. Is there an easier strategy to help me defeat him?
I use pretty much the same strategy, except I use the ladder to shoot his face.
hah thanks but i just beat it a bit ago.. now I'm having trouble with the upgraded security robot. too bad sess never finished his run, this is why i was hoping someone would make a video. I'm sorta on my own from here on.
But there IS a video made by yours truly. Look in the Boss Tricks in the MF section.
Oh fine, I'll start doing the next segment today  :?  Geo core is annoying and if Pikmin 2 comes out (followed by paper mario followed by prime 2 with pokemon fire thrown somewhere in there) I'll never get it done.  I'll put geo core on the backburner and see what I can get done for y'all.

Just to save me some time checking, do charged missiles do more damage to BOX than not?
I'm looking forward to it :D. Your last 6 segments (well 4 out of 6) were simply amazing. Just don't overwork yourself so you run away from a few more months :?

No.
(insect from family guy)

Good.... Good....
haha. yeah sorry W.Dawgs i got lazy, and i only checked after i already made that post.. so, yeah I beat the Robot and soon will be at Ridley. I have to work today so I don't think I'll be finishing tonight (school tomorrow). I guess it all depends on how bad Ridley is, and then after him, I don't think there are any more bosses, so it should be smooth sailing.

By the way, pretty cool that Sess is going to finish, I'm anxious to see the rest of the run, and what final time you get too. After I finish mine, I'll probably start a new one and attempt some more of the tricks you did, It's been awhile since I watched your videos and i was basing most of my tricks off past experience. After watching you and Dawgs' videos, hopefully I can improve.

Eh, omega metroid & SA X?
You serieously possibal to do a 1% run on Metroid Fusion? o_o I never even got 100% on the game, I couldn't even think of trying to go through it with 5 missiles.
15 missiles, actually.

And, the SA-X and omega metroid are easy. I don't think they'll give me much trouble.
