Can't believe this wasn't directly mentioned here yet:

TP will be released at the same time as the Wii and in two versions: one for the GameCube and one for the Wii. imo this doesn't really affect me at all, because, of course, I'm going to be buying the Wii on launch day and TP with it - for the Wii.

This is actually a smart move on Nintendo's part: TP really should be a Wii title, and now it is, but those who can't afford/don't want a Wii can still get the full game (sans a few extra features). Sounds good to me.
The version I buy will be decided by how well TP on Wii controls.

hm... i wonder if i'll end up with both of them some time after the Wii launch...
I wonder how the difficulty of the game will differ between games. Since you have to aim the bow and boomarang with the controller some gamers will get frustrated because of their aim, but with the gamecube you can just press L and target whatever you want to attack and press the button for your boomarang or bow.

Well, once everyone gets past the learning curve, I think that gameplay on the Wii will be just as natural as the GameCube's, and it will be a lot more fun. It's just like learning any new thing - after a bit of practice, it becomes secondhand.
Ok, everybody go to ark's link now. Name: media, password E32006. Go down to the bottom, to GC titles, and hit video on TP. Awesome.
Shocked omfg!!!
That is awesome!!!

I'd rather say it'll be the other way around. Both games have manual aiming, both games have lock-on. In the older games, you couldn't always lock onto things either (especially with the hookshot), and I'd say it'd be easier to just point and click rather than have to deal with the constantly-over-sensitive analog stick deal. Still, anyone who's played Zelda before is used to that by now, so I doubt it'll make a difference.
Possible spoiler that would still leave you clueless: Look at this, something my friend found.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
It just looks like to me that Midna gives you hints a la Navi in OOT.

iirc, that was confirmed or mentioned before.

Does anyone else think the on-screen Navi looks kind of annoying? I'm sure it won't be bad, though. Just takes some getting used to, like the MM clock always being at the bottom of the screen.

Anyone else planning on playing the GameCube version first?

Nope, what would be the reason? If you have enough for a Wii and TP, there's really no reason to get the GCN version (unless, of course, the Wii version's ontrol scheme absolutely sucks, in which case, I'll pick up the one for the 'Cube as well).

I'm getting it for the Cube, because I almost definitely won't get a Wii right away (same for all new consoles).  Besides, I've been waiting for the best damn Zelda game on the Cube.  Not Wii.

Though I'll probably bend over backwards and take it up the rear by getting the Wii version eventually.

Ditto.  I'm probably not going to pick up a Wii until MP3 or SSB is released.

[EDIT:  Oh snap!  MP3's a launch title...]

I've read on a couple of places (though, nothing official) that you can play on the Wii version with the old controller if you want to, the only reason you would want to buy the GC version would be if you didn't have the money to buy a Wii and/or wouldn't want one.

Some insight into TP's Wii control (1up podcast).

Which could be a lot of people...there ARE folks who don't buy consoles at launch and yet might wish to play this game they've been waiting for for a while.  My sister would only get the GC game, I'm sure, as she's perfectly happy with her GC and doesn't have enough gaming time to get another console anyway.  I'll likely get the Wii and that version of the game, so we can compare.

since GCs will hardly sell when the Wii is launched, they should do a package that lets you get a GC and the GC version of TP for just $99

that way, people who want to play TP but don't want a Wii yet, can play without thinking it twice (and there are already $50 games bundled with GCs anyway)
i think you may have just predicted the future.

If that's the case, which I'm betting it is, Nintendo is making a very smart move here. Reach everyone at the same time.
If that's truly the case, I think I just made my decision on which copy of the game I'm getting. (Wii) Wink

I've also heard that Nintendo reps on the show floor have said: "No."

Oh, and here's a video of the entire demo...

Yeah...I think I'll get the GameCube version...
