Does this mean that the word "noob" will be replaced with pkmn? If so, I will laugh at everyone from this point on that says "noob" *insultingly laughs at self for 2.31234 minutes*
I bet it'll be something silly, like... four "regular" dungeons and four intro dungeons and two final dungeons or something crazy like that.
So it starts out kinda like OoT, with the three easy dungeons as a sort of introduction, then something happens and the story kicks in, and there's a number of "real" dungeons after that... this number should be disappointingly small, to keep up the tradition. So I'm going with four. Or maybe there'll only be those four, but you have to play each dungeon twice, once in the real world and once in the Twilight Zone or whatever.
I have a kinda split opinion about the dungeons anyway... The only thing they ever do is be mean and frustrating and scary/depressing/tedious... but then again, without the many dungeons the games would feel incredibly flat, sort of. Oh, hello Wind Waker.
I think four dungeons, with lots of in-between stuff works quite well (In MM, at least). I'd like to see something similar again, with loads of sidequests.
There's a lot of validity to both methods (dungeon/sidequest focused), so however they do it, I'm confident I'll enjoy it.
It's set between OoT and tWW, right? I'd like the game to have a more melancholy ending than usual for a Zelda, in order to set up tWW's plot. Like the races dying out and having to evolve to stay alive (or at least change their business practices), and finishing with the big flood.
There's supposed to be more dungeons in TP than there were in OOT...
You sure? I thought it said that TP will be 3 to 4 times longer then OoT. But I guess that would mean more dungeons unless there are four super long dungeons.
Super long dungeons of any number would suck: I like medium-length ones, somewhat longer than Majora's Mask (MM's were so short obviously because of the three-day limit ... though they could have easily been longer). Since the game is supposedly going to be longer in general, though, I would want more dungeons rather than lenghtier ones.
I agree, I hate it when a dungeon is too long or too short.
I hope there are at least 8 dungeons, just slightly longer than OoT's dungeons each. I also hope this supposed fishing system will allow you to fish up an optional boss (I love optional boss monsters).
Also if Nintendo doesn't let me down like they did in WW (extremely easy final fight) and Ganondorf actually changes into Ganon, I hope Ganon looks more like the Ganon from OoT. So that he doesn't have so many pig like features as he has had in other games.
Ganondorf should still have the triforce of Power piece so he should be able to transform in TP (unlike WW where he was pwned by the king of Hyrule)
MM with twice the dungeons would own hard.
i like the dungeons medium sized too. short ones are too boring and long ones become boring. they also have to pick interesting themes for them since a bad theme can kill any kind of dungeon.
Meh, a dungeon's theme doesn't really matter to me much. A dungeon needs four ingredients: a creative layout, good enemies, good puzzles, and excellent music. Likewise, the overworld needs to have some a central "theme" as well, such as in OoT (young to adult, warping to places by actually playing songs that correspond with dungeon themes = brilliant) or as in MM (the three-day cycle). Looks like TP already has the overworld thing covered with the Twilight Realm, so hopefully the dungeons will deliver.
I am eagerly awaiting TP, but I highly doubt there will be twenty-five full dungeons. Lots of smaller ones (like Dodongo's Cavern or Deku Tree size) mixed in with the main ones would be great, though. I like to see shakeups in the old formula - The Wind Waker did a lot of that with the small islands and stuff, so I'd like more of that sort of thing. And, of course, the Wii control looks stunningly fun. Any other new screenshots?
I'm also very excited for games like Tennis and WarioWare - though I've always liked them, they're not games I'd usually actually purchase. Now, however, with the Wii, I'd definitely be interested in buying them. Go, Nintendo, with your great marketing strategies. >_>
hehe, ark, did you hear about rockstar's "table tennis"? (which is unfortunately coming out for ps2 or something) totally what i thought of when you talked about wii tennis.
25 dungeons would be impossible unless like 22 of them suck. the wii controller stuff looks...so sexy.
That Time piece was about the best pre-E3 present you could have given me: this guy, who knows nothing about games, gets the point of the Wii in an instant and has to have the controller "pried" from his fingers by the time he's done. I'm so excited about the Wii's possiblities I could kill someone.
Yeah, as TIME is most definitely not a gaming magazine, to see an article such as that really gives some support to Nintendo's goal: to reach non-gamers. Looks like it's already doing what it was meant to do. I dunno about you, but I think the future looks very bright for the Big N.
-ALWAYS online (console is always online, even when OFF) -Built in speaker on the controller -No improved graphics on Virtual Console (as in, they aren't redoing the models, doesn't talk about framerates and such). -TG16 will have it's 1st party games out at launch, 3rd party will come later as demand increases. -Estimated prices for the VC are "a few dollars for NES, $5 for SNES and $10 for N64" -VC games are pro-scan enabled. -$250 "seems appropriate" -More 3rd party exclusives than the Cube
-Mario - Fall 2006 -Smash Bros - Fall 2006 -Metroid Prime 3 - 2007
-Zelda is 80% complete, delay was for graphic tweaks, wii functions and because they want the game to be measured on a scale of 1 to 120 instead of 1 to 100. -NO SWINGING THE CONTROLLER for the sword, you just press a button. There are some cases where you will swing though. Reason = you'll get tired too fast -Controller does sound effects -Widescreen on the REV only! -Navi is only when you play on the REV. -Something with online is planned but no battle mode. -More dungeons than OOT already -More items too
damn straight. i was 120% sure MP3 would be a 2007 game :p
Quote:
-Navi is only when you play on the REV.
lol wonder how many will use GCs :p
80% still. omg that thing is fucking big if that much is remaining to be made still.
progressive scan for VC games = yessss!! *jumps*
*now awaits for framerate info*
those VC game prices look right. people will experience the full version of FZX for only 10 (or 20) bucks (unlike me who spent 60 times that)
i would prefer a $200 price for the Wii (which means $300 in panama) or $250 with some extras included.
good thing there's no sword swiing. i had a hard time believing that. aiming with the Wii controller sounds nice. i wanted that *remembers how he points the GC controller when shooting the hookshot in OoT*
Wii controller speaker: wow who could have imagined that? that was a surprise (just like the accelerometer)
and funny how Nintendo went from never online to always online :p
Oh, God, that first one just makes me imagine a huge flickerbatting world with so many places to go and things to do. I am going to need to save up a ton of money for all the Wii stuff I'll want.
