Why is PB so used?

Hi, this is my first message in this board. I've seen some hunter's licenses and I noticed that the Power Beam is a weapon very used. But I don't know why. Please, can someone help me to understand the secret of this weapon?

b/c its easier just to use the power beam than to pick up an affinity weapon, plus it does decent damage all the same.

Powerbeamshots do 6 points of damage, headshots 8 points, charged shots 36 points and charged headshots 48 points. That's quite a lot when you think how fast it can be shot. ;)
And it doesn't matter who shots or who gets shot, it always does the same damage.

Another reason might be that the person used download play a ton and only used the powerbeam to kill the person.

DS Download Play doesn't log the players that downloaded.

He means they take another DS and do download play, then set it to 3 minutes and 1 point to win and then they just kill the person who's downloading with the PB. Every time you win a download play match, it counts as beating a 1 star, so you get points for it.That's probably how some of those crappy 5 stars get 5 stars.

yea but there morons cause it's very time consuming and it's a waste of time. When you prepare a match using download play..usuall it can take up to five minutes.

I use download play when I'm looking for SW's and glitches and stuff, and it usually takes around 3 minutes to get the battle ready for the first time and then like 20 seconds for each battle to start. It doesn't take that long.

But I personally don't think that's the reason a lot of people have the PB as their favorite weapon. I think that its just cuz its a good weapon and really convenient since you don't have to collect any ammo.

i have a teory, the game puts you as weapon of choice the one you have shot the most, in most cases its powerbeam since its like a machinegun, also tha game could track the weapons you wear most of the time and you always star with PB

I don't think that your weapon of choice is the one you've shot the most. Mine is the Imperialist, and I definately haven't shot that more times than the power beam. I'm pretty sure its the weapon that you've gotten the most kills with.

yeah, i bet i could kill most people with PB only if they werent so laggy, i once killed a harcore sniper 4 times under a minute, however i was blocking the imp for him so he came to me to be killed

I'm pretty sure the reason is number of shots fired. And no weapon shoots more rapidly, so its very easy to have most shots fired with the power beam. if it was based on Kills with the weapon, you would see more variety in "favorite weapon".
