There's been a little discussion on twitch about scheduling a regular metroid zero mission race in whatever category would suit the most people (so probably any%). Sundays at 2PM UTC was suggested. Any thoughts, and any takers?
Thread title:
So why did nobody reply?

I'll be up for joining the race, even though I've never practiced the any% route :P I'll wing it and learn on the way. I know up to Ridley anyways.
we can still do 100% instead if it's all 100% players who are interested :p
Is this still a scheduled thing? It would be convenient if it was.
currently it's not, but now that you and spidey have expressed interest it should become one.

Spidey said the best time for him was saturday night PST, but that's the early hours of the morning for me, so not ideal.
I think Sundays would work better for me, personally. I think the time Mobiusman suggested (UCT 2PM) would be ok, but I think some compromises would have to be made to make everyone be able to attend. Also, summer is looming near, and I don't think I can be around that much during that period.
UCT 2pm won't work for me :( maybe like UCT 5pm and on for sundays , i'm fine
yup, going a bit later on sunday is also fine for me
Yeah, that works for me too. Actually, UCT 5pm or later is even better, lol.

oh crap, I miscalculated my time zones... UCT 6pm would be best, since I have church on sundays and I definitely won't be back by 1pm EST (5pm UCT) <_< My bad... (also, it'd be good for this to be on sundays since there are already weekly mp1+2 races on saturdays haha)

On another note, think it'd be a good idea to have a thread with a leaderboards? We don't really have one here, and even fusion has one (though it's on SDA forums) :P Since ZM is getting more love, I think it'd be great to see where we stand compared to other runners.

Yeah, go for it Kirby. Would be cool to have some leaderboards! I already know my standing, though... damn you Mobiusman, I'll get you yet! (maybe).

EDIT:

Not sure if there's any Japanese runners for this game at the moment, btw. Might be worth a check?

Because I have no life, I have a leaderboard spreadsheet already. But some of these times might be outdated - it's just what I could find posted on here or on SDA.

in a proper leaderboard it'd be neat to have a column for input used, since there are many different options (GBA/SP/GCN/DS, and more for emulator)

Yeah I think the platforms used to play this game should be listed. For the most part, though, I don't think the platform makes a difference at all, considering if the game runs slower or faster, so does the in-game clock, so the timing is still intact. Anyhow, mine's emulated on PSP.
6PM UTC should work for me too, it might be a bit tight though, 7PM would probably be better if it's not too late for anyone else.
I'm fine with Sunday 2 PM. Someone just poke me on Skype or IRC to remind me >_>
Would the race be for Any% or 100%? I've played through Zero Mission several times and have been practicing any% for the last two weeks and this sounds like a lot of fun. Looking at the leaderboards in Mobiusman's post, I feel like I'd never be able to compete, haha.  Unfortunately, I don't think I am available  this Sunday until  the  evening, but, I am  free next Sunday afternoon. Will races be weekly?

Yep, races will be weekly
I'm fine with either any% or 100%. I don't see why we couldn't do both... and then mix it up with a little low% ;)
Sunday around noon sounds good to me. How does this work for those of us who aren't streaming? Should we just start at the same time as everyone else and announce when we're done?
so we're going 7PM UCT on sunday? that's noon for spidey if I've got my timezones right. I hope that fits ddarch and sam.

All skills levels are welcome! It sounds like we've got some interest in both categories, we'll probably just pick on the day based on what people want.

this is pretty much how it works, yes. there's a bot that tells everyone when to start, and you send a command to announce you've finished. SRL rules say you only have to stream if you're playing on emulator.

It's 3pm est I think, so  it works for me. Any time does really though, so that doesn't count for much >_>.
3 PM is also fine.

What server/channel IRC do I join to join in the race? And what command do I use to announce when I've finished?

irc.speedrunslive.com #speedrunslive

there are plenty of tutorials on their website, but the only commands you need are .enter, .ready, and .done
