Hi, what's a good key lay-out setting for M:ZM in VisualBoyAdvance?I tried:

up - up
down - down
left - left
right - right
shoot(b) - D
jump(a) - A
aim diag(l) - W
rocket(r) - S
start - rightctrl
select - space

But im not satisfied with them. If i press too much keys at the same time my computer starts to beep.  :(
Thread title:
You might want to do asdf, so that you can hit all four at once. (jumping while shooting a diagonal missile) But what do I know, I couldn't get used to a keyboard. My best hope would be buying a pad.
Well, do the guys that do all the neat tricks all have a pad or something? They run on emulator too, dont they?

And how can i turn off this (#*^!(&^! beeping computer thing when i press too many keys at once??
I believe Sess does 3567 for directions, jkl; for actions. Works for him. *shrug*

But all the official speed runs were done on the cart. That means RS, ajbolt, and gamecube04
Up: NUM 8
Down: NUM 2
Left: NUM 4
Right: NUM 6
A: NUM 0
B: NUM Enter
L: NUM /
R: NUM *
Start: NUM .
Select: NUM 5

I'm a strange person.
Shocked Yes. Yes you are.

The shock is somewhat lessened by the word NUM there (I had some fun at first contorting my hands around to get to them on the keyboard), but it still seems awkward and cramped.
Up: W
Down: S
Left: A
Right: D

A: NUM 5
B: NUM 4

L: Caps Lock
R: NUM 6

Start: Space Bar
Select: NUM 0

Hmmmm. I use my left hand for moving.

That seems by far the best. I haven't tried it yet, so it might not be so great. I suck at using a keyboard for GB controls. I bought a pad, but it sucks for the directions. I gotta try my brother's Air Flo, but I fear the analog sticks.
WASD for movement
A=Home
B=End
Delete=R (missiles)
Insert=L (diagonal)

Left hand move, right hand action. The same things for my SNES emu, except page up/down = R/L and Del/Ins are X/Y

W = Up
A = Left
S = Down
D = Right

Num 1 = B
Num 2 = A
Num 3 = R
Num 0 = L
Num + = Select
Num Enter = Start

Works for me.

Ever played liero? That game forces both players onto one keyboard, so I adopted the left side, and crammed all my controls onto the numpad. It takes some getting used to, but the close proximity of all the buttons makes fast reactions easier.

Did you know that you can fit an entire PSX controller onto that numpad?
Arrow keys for movement...

A=/ or . (some emus have problems with /...)
B=, or .
R=;
L=Shift

Start=Space or Enter
Select=Enter or Space
As with most people here it seems, right hand for motion-left for buttons.

This goes for pretty much any emulator. Don't know how I got started using it.

I prefer my layout because of the fact that it resembles an actual controller, where you move with your left hand and attack with your right. ;)

I agree with him. If it is a console video game. I have to use my left hand for movement. For some reason, though, "computer only" games don't bother me when I use my right hand instead.

I always move with the arrow buttons, and always use ASDF for buttons when playing on emulators. On ZSNES, the order is ABXY. I use WE for LR. When playing VBA, I'm trying out LARB on ASDF, so I have it all under four fingers instead of having SF for AB and WE for LR. On DGen, I use SDF for ABC and WER for XYZ. In NESticle, it's SF for AB. I always use ¨ for START and Å for SELECT. For all of you that doesn't have a Swedish keyboard, it's the key just to the left of ¨.

Yes, I was wondering what you were talking about, then I realized there are different style keyboards. One of these days I'm gonna try WD's layout.
left: arrow left
right :arrow right
up:arrow up
down:arrow down

A:c
B:v
L:d
R:f

works great for me...
When I don't use a gamepad, I use:

WASD for up down left and right

I=A button
K=B button
L=R
J=L
E=Select
Q=Start

I have crazy fingers, so shooting a diagonal missile while jumping is as easy as a jump. I normally don't pause with start. I use CTRL+P for VBA's pause, since it is instant and allows me to scroll Internet Explorer  Wink
I haven't played VBA in a while, but WD's layout looks pretty good to me. When I do play I just use the default for the game.

Um...is that possible? What if you wanna charge while space jumping? Or if you want to shoot a missile, do you tap "R," jump and shoot all at once?
Nope, it isn't possible.
i have A as 1, and B as 2, L as 4 R as 6, and speed up as 3. Keep in mind that i use the numpad for mine
Mine is:

arrow keys = move
Z = A
X = B
Shift = R
A = L
Numpad 0 = Select
Enter = Start
Spacebar = Turbo
