Uh. Just do normal bomb jumps. Lay the first bomb, tap the direction in which you want to go, then hold the opposite direction after bomb 1 goes off and bomb jump like normal...

Ok, I was able to figure it out on accident, and I think I can explain. First off, let's say your going to the left. Lay your first bomb, and before it goes off move to the left. You'll then be catapulted left. Before leaving set another bomb where you moved, and at the height of your first jump lay another. Now land to the left of the next one, get shot up, and then shot up by the next. After this, hold to the right and slightly down, and just lay bombs continuously like in IBJ. Should work. If not, just IBJ up and lay your last few so you get catapulted left. Works when getting Varia.

You guys make it sound so complex.

Do a normal vertical IBJ.  Get in the rhythym of hitting the bomb button continuously.

Tap left once so you get thrown left, then hold right.  Don't stop with that rhythym.  That's all.

I find that the height of my jump doesn't work for me. For some reason it only jumps just after the height. Other wise, the bomb goes off on me, but I still don't get blasted up. Or I do get blasted up, but the next one doesn't work.
