Hey, I am about 70% through the game and I haven't used the Boost Ball once yet. Is there any special use for it or is it just "a nice gimmick"?

Also, do you need it at any point in the game?
thx

You don't need it at any point in the game and I don't think it hurts anyone in multiplayer, so it is quite useless.

you need it to get into one of the tunnels in the frost maze.... or at least i couldnt get into it without it for some reason.

I don't think you needed it for the frost maze. The only place I remember it being usefull was in the piston cave.

there are a few places where it is trivially useful; sometimes I get stuck going up  alittle ramp in morph ball in the first series of rooms after the alinos gateway and I need to use the boost ball to get by. Other than that, it -does- cause some damage to enemies and also to players in multiplayer (but the former will also cause damage to you too.

You can damage players with it online, though its not as powerful as the triskeloin attack. The best place to use the boost ball in online play would be rolling through those tunnels under the floor in the data nodes (or whatever it's called map. You'll collect the energy and also ram anyone else who tries to go down there.

and for some reason, I had to use the boost ball to get through the entrance at the top of the maze. I dont know why but whenever I simply rolled up to it I would get stopped.
i just used a bomb.
I only used it in the piston cave and to speed up a little in the morphball mazes.

thats what i was talking about. :P

I tried bombing it, because i thought it was a door, and couldnt get in, then i boosted and got in right away...
OOOhhhhhhhh.. I use Boostball A LOT. In any room where you have to walk longer distances I morph and boost my way through. Seems way faster than walking. Especially in the long rooms before the bosses, I boost like 4 or 5 times. I don't know if it's actually any faster, but at least it FEELS faster.
I also tried to use it, but when I press "R" there is a 1% chance to boost. That's quite annoying, so I don't use it.  Rolling Eyes
(Also with stylus --> less than 1% -- or maybe I'm to stupid to use it...)
I hold R then release, seems to work well.

with the R button you need to hold it breifly, like in prime.

In Prime it's the B-Button.

@Boosting:
Doesn't work for me every time. Very poor coded  :x
But I don't need it, so I don't care...

Wasnt equating the button, was equating the method (holding the -boost- button down)

its not poorly coded, its just not easy to use. Not the same thing.

I get repeatedly pwn3d by Samus users who do nothing but roll around laying bombs all around you, boosting around a corner so you cant hit them, then boosting back into you causing damage and dropping more bombs, repeat til you die.

Boosting Morph Balled Samus is extremely hard to kill.
nope . trap them in a corner adn their asses will be raped.
