Well holy crap. I wish someone told me that Queen Metroid takes 150 missiles before I went all the way to her with just 160. And I've got 3 energy tanks to boot, hooray. Yeah, apparently I suck at Metroid II. At least I didn't miss Space Jump or Screw Attack, so I can manage to keep myself alive pretty good. The trouble is, I can only miss ten shots, unless I do that stomach bombing buisness, but the one time I tried that she just bashed her head into my poor little ball instead of eating it. So, does anybody have any advice for me?
Thread title:
To do the bombs you need to stun her really close to the ground so you can roll in... otherwise you just get hurt.

How does one stun her?
Oh... thought you knew that.
A missile when the mouth is open does the stunning. Then you can spam ~10 missiles into the mouth really fast before morphing and rolling in if you want.

Hahaha, I HAD to bomb her my first time through. I only had 140 missiles the first time I faced her. I had also missed High jump, spring ball and the first ice beam. I forget how many etanks I had...I think 4.
I believe you only need to roll into Queenie's belly and lay bombs 4 times before she dies.  So technically... you could finish her off with 4 missiles.  Just gotta shoot her open mouth at the right time to stun, roll in, bomb the hell outta her guts, and repeat until dead.
Wrong. The minimum is 5 missiles.

How many missiles is one bomb worth?

Oh, and since you start with 30, you only have to make sure you enter the lair with 5 missiles. Is it at all possible to lay a bomb exactly as the first bomb blows and actually hit her twice while only using one missile?
I just used the bombing method because of the way it was done in a Metroid 2 Speedrun. I had no problem at all.

I'd say 10. I think that's about how it works out... 15 bombs +5 missiles required, or 150 missile required.

Nope. As soon as it explodes, it launches you out of "the spot" and prevents you from laying another bomb until you're out of her stomach.

Depending on how quick you can stutter-shoot (and providing enough missiles), it can be faster to just use pure missiles. Not usually though, but sometimes.

...Do the bombs really ALL hit? Doesn't MQ become invincible for a second when the first bomb esplodes? She doesn't scream when the other bombs blow IIRC. If this is the case, it would be worth about 30 missiles/bomb, but you'd have to finish her off with missiles to find out because finishing with bombs probably overkills. If the last round of missiles only uses 31 missiles, then we'll know for sure the value of it. It's possible that it may take 36 the last round though (if it's set so that she dies with 5 bombs + 5 missiles, so it'd be 29m/b). The world may never know; except when somebody tries it, of course.

Well, I just picked my shots carefully and beat her with no bombing at all. Hell of a long fight though. Final time: 5:06. Ouch.

I also missed  the high jump. And I could have sworn last time I played I had to fight that thing that was in Fusion guarding the morph ball (Arachnus?). If so, I missed that too. But I still found a spider ball somewheres.

Good point. It is only the first one that hits. And she goes invincible for longer than it takes for a last-second bomb to explode (and by that time she's already moved all the way back). So, 30/29 missiles/bomb, and only one possible per shot.

He guards the Spring Ball.

I always wished they would have made arachnus a harder boss in Fusion it took me forever to figure out how to kill him in Metroid 2.
Theres a spring ball? well I guess i missed that item.

Damn, a spring ball would have been mighty handy.  :?
whenever I try to get into QM stomach, I can get into her mouth but not her stomach. Bombing her in the mouth doesn't seem to do very much damage either.  :(
everybody knows it's true
press left in the mouth.
Yes, I know that. The problem is, it doesn't work. But it doesn't matter anymore cause I beat her without using bombs.

I had that problem.  If you continue holding left from when you first enter her mouth, it won't work.  For me at least.  You need to release left and hit left again to move to her stomach.
