hey, i noticed there's no equivalent topic for mp3 and several version differences are being reported already. let's keep them in one place.

note: list has been updated with all the known changes:

- BSJs can't be done anymore (confirmed by several people)
- Admiral Dane said "damn" in a cutscene in the original mp3 release but they removed that from this version and he says "No" instead now.
- there's a electric barrier instead of the rotating cage in one of the rooms in elysia. this stops a SW.
- Hazard Shield skip has been completely fixed since they removed the safe spots in command courtyard.
- the camera tool is the same for all 3 games now and requires friend credits to unlock.
- the Energy Cell skip in the Valhalla was fixed. terminal falls don't respawn you in the ledge and they put an invisible wall in the ledge to stop the alternate SA method.
- there's an invisible wall that prevents you from destroying the bryyo turrets backwards.
- there's 1 new red token thanks to a new turret from the Pirate Homeworld.
- Bryyo's theme is extended a bit.
- the leviathan ships blow up when samus is leaving after defeating the boss inside.
- the sound the grapple voltage makes when absorbing energy is different.

at last, i got around compiling all the known version differences from this topic.
Thread title:
So the Hazard Shield skip and the one to bypass the two energy cells are still intact? Interesting, because I would've thought those tricks would be pretty simple to correct compared to most.

Or has nobody gotten that far to confirm this yet?
(I originally posted this in the MP trilogy differences thread, pasted it here now that there's an MP3 specific thread)

I've noticed several differences in MP3 so far.

When you choose to have the hint system disabled, the AU continues to upload coordinates to you but it doesn't take you to the map screen immediately afterwards.  For some reason it did go to the map screen when the norion generator coordinates were uploaded, but everytime since then it has not.

(Not sure if I'm right about this one)  The 90 degree corridor near the save room on the way to to the metroid lab in Elysia used to have jolly roger drones in it, now it has an endless stream of puffers.  (It's the corridor that you have to use grapple lasso to pull a coouple of blocks out and then screw attack over to a missile expansion)

The rotating cage in Elysia has been replaced by force fields which flicker on and off at regular intervals.

ALSO - the security station in Elysia used to have metal debris blocking the lock, requiring you to melt them away with plasma first.

i guess no one has got to that point to try that trick yet. the main attraction of the trilogy is playing mp1 and mp2 with wii controls so most people will be playing those and people might want to play them in order too (i know i'm doing that when i get my copy)
IIRC The skip can be circumvented by another method I discovered and didn't post for exactly this reason.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case, seeing as I'm doing the exact same thing myself. I got Trilogy today and so far I'm 90 minutes into Prime and I just got the Space Jump in its intended order, so it's going to be a while before I get to Corruption.
I noticed an insignificant little difference when you talk to AU 212 on Elysia immediately after assembling the theronian bomb.  In the original version, the words 'commencing skytown migration' are spoken with a different voice than the AU's.  In the trilogy version it is spoken by the AU.  Weird.

i'm finally playing mp3 and now i've noticed something weird.

remember the generators in jungle bryyo? the ones that if you went the back way and destroyed the second one, it would let you get into the seed and skip the first one? well, looks like there's an invisible wall blocking the back way on the area that you would reach with the ghetto jump/BSJ. i shoot towards that area and my shots hit thin air.
i'll proceed as normal since these invisible walls are impenetrable.
I figured that one would be dead since aren't BSJ's gone in Corruption? Although I forgot you could ghetto up there.

That's why I'm also afraid for both the Hazard Skip and the Energy Cell Skip. They fixed the drop in Echoes to get the Screw Attack early, so I don't see why they couldn't do something with that in the Valhalla as well. As for the Command Courtyard, all they need to do is make it so that those corners aren't under cover or else make the radius of that one Voltage terminal be smaller.

i think SA early cannot be one in mp2 because the lack of roll jump makes it impossible to reach the checkpoint.
someone should test the energy cell skip. i'll try it when i reach that place but that will be almost at the end of the run and this game takes me much longer than the others to beat with all scans and 100% items. also, i never did the hazard shield skip so i can't test that one.
If nobody has tested it by the time I get there (I just defeated Quadraxis in Echoes, so it is likely someone will beat me to it.) I'll probably just test to see if the barrier can be lowered and then proceed as normal.

Ok, so that's what the problem with Echoes was? I always did the dash using the door to get across there, but from what I could tell since I was curious and tested it when I got to that point in my Trilogy run the dash did not work at all and all I ended up doing was sliding off of the edge. (Either that or I'm just really rusty and couldn't remember how I used to do it.)

i've noticed some more changes.
now the leviathan ships blow up when samus is leaving after defeating the boss inside.
the sound the grapple voltage makes when absorbing energy is different.
So, are there any actual improvements to this iteration?

So far MP3 is still better cos it has the title screen and amazing file select music and weird bug stuff.

as in actual improvements, none so far.
the changes i've seen are either cosmetic or detrimental for sequence breaking. you oculd say the cosmetic changes are for the better but that's it. missiles are still slow and miss easily.
Anywhere, everywhere
The bryyo theme in trilogy is MUCH longer than the original corruption. It was already long to begin with, but now there's some more stuff after the piano part.

the energy cell skip doesn't work anymore. i used SA and hit virtually all sides in the ledge and fell onto the void and i respawned in the area i was standing always.

i didn't try hazard shield skip since i was getting all items fast.
Jagger ftw
I failed at hazardous shield skip, first room lol... Either me or it wasn't working at all.
Well, I just finished Echoes and started Corruption a few hours ago, so I'm on my way to be able to test the Hazard skip soon. (Currently landed on Bryyo) I'll copy the save file once I get to the Homeworld and try a full run at it, but somehow I have a bad feeling they cut us off.

So was it the Command Courtyard or Skyway Access you got to Gu3st? They could easily have modified the damage from the acid rain to make it impossible for us to survive the battle in Skyway Access if that's where you got to.
Jagger ftw
I failed at court yard, tried to screw attack for hours.
Uchicha, send me that save I have another method that didn't rely on the screw attack.

lol, i beat the game yesterday.
when i get to that place in normal, i'll send you a save since i still have to beat mp3 in normal.
Ok. I mave another strat that will work, unless they did some major coverup.

i've reached the point where the hazard shield skip is done but i can't get to the safe spot in command courtyard.

is this an easy trick to do? i'm following what the site vid does but i've never done the trick before so i don't really know the exact place of the safe spot and how hard it is to reach it.

i attached a savefile for someone to try.

edit: here's a save in the valhalla for baby sheegoth to try the alternate energy cell skip.
