I have a question (Since I havent unlocked every map yet): Are there any maps that are not A) taken from single player locations or B) in the MPH:First Hunt demo? (The map where you do the morph ball practice in first hunt is in the game, with updated graphics.)
Thread title:
I don't know, but I'd like to think of the maps as being multiplayer areas incorporated into single player  Wink
I've actually been wondering this myself.

However, i'm thinking that the maps were multiplayer first - then incorporated into the single player, it just makes more sense.  As the maps are very well balanced for multiplayer.

Ready and willing.
I love how none of them feel forced in single player, however. Of course the Prime series has always been filled with random structures that seemed "natural" for a planet or space station.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
I don't think the arena "Headshot" is in the single player game, and I don't remember it from First Hunt.
I never played First Hunt, so I can't really help out there.

Seeing as how most of the game's focus is on the multiplayer aspect of it, I would imagine that the maps were designed for the multiplayer first. Either way, I do have to agree with what Yoshi said and how they easily fit into the singleplayer game.
The Multiplayer levels don't seem like a copy from the Single Player, yet they are pretty much, and vice versa. The only thing that irks me a bit is the couple of levels in Mutliplayer that have the same basic area, but some underlying parts have changed:

High Ground - Elder Passage
Alinos Perch - Council Chamber
Subterranean - Fault Line

But they're still good. Also, the maps from the demo exist in the game too:

Combat Hall: Pretty much the same thing from the demo, though one Jump Pad is removed and the blocks next to the bridge that you could jump up to are removed, so you can't get up there quickly. It was called "Ancient Vestige" in the demo. It's also in Single Player.

Harvester: A HEAVILY modified Assault Cradle. I didn't recognize it at first, but you can tell. Great CTF map, not found in Single Player.

Data Shrine: About the same thing from the demo's "Trooper Module" Found several times in Single Player.

Statis Bunker: Heavily modified "Morph Ball Training" level from the demo that you couldn't play in Multiplayer. In Single Player too.
