And i'm gonna be a cruel person and just kill this topic once and for all. Evil or Very Mad
The metroid.wikia.org states that:

"The true name of this suit upgrade is unknown at this point in time."
and call it more accurately: UAM 1(UNOFFICIAL ARTIFICIAL MECHANISM 1)

I err on the side of Zero Mission's terminology and call it the "Fully-Powered Fusion Suit".

Agreed!

But how does the suit let Samus use ice beam? o.O
Further more, how does the varia suit prevent her dna from being frozen from icy X?
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
The suit you get from the SA-X is the one you lost in the first place, so she's pretty much exactly as she was before ever landing on the planet

except she has diffusion ice missiles, and lacks ordinary missiles. And she has Metroid DNA. Also, she can't IBJ. And she has 20 Etanks. She also gained a biting fetish. :?

Well, from what I can tell, the Fusion Suit changes its form moreso than it augments it.  The upgrades are referred to as "data", so it seems more of an evolution, a la the SR-388 'troids, than taking the upgrade and applying it to the suit, as the rather mechanical Power Suit(s) did.

I'll take this time to say that I find it interesting how missiles can fit on her body.  To me, it seems like the material for missiles is stored on her frame ("frame" being "body" or somesuch), and then the material is quickly applied into missile production.  Samus has some magic midget Chinese missile factory in that thar cannon.

It's some sort of really thin sheet of enemy-hide that's clumped together for storage and eventually pulled out and compressed into the missile body, injected full of explosive energy, and stored for use, hence the smaller rate of fire.

Lulz making sense of videogames.

Hey, we're talking about a space-borne future where astral bird-people creature biomechanical battle suits.  There is an explanation, even if it wouldn't otherwise make sense.
Armor Guardian
A wizard did it.

There. I just explained everything.
once GameFAQs, now Twitch
Now the question of why said wizard did it hangs in the air.

I mean, it's not like how the Space Pirates followed (the) Mother Brain because they're genetically dispositioned to acts as such...

I don't know if I should have gone with my norm and used brackets instead.

I personally think that the missile launcher system uses microstorage, then when it's armed, the missile is expanded (think reverse shrink-ray), and probably ready to fire. Would explain the slow rate of fire in some games, otherwise, there's a heat sinker on the arm cannon that allows for rapid fire. With the Ice Missiles, it wouldn't have to stress the heat sinker as much as a normal missile, but yet, you can only have two missiles onscreen at a time (guess Nintendo wouldn't want the screen to overload because of excessive missiles, they probably remedied that in Zero Misison).

damn, i had the same idea while reading the topic. when i was about to make a post i read your post and was like "lol that's what i was going to say"

also, wasn't the Varia in Fusion a suit that protected against extreme temperatures? it no longer specifies heat like in all the other games, meaning that it also shields cold.

i say cold is only a factor in fusion because samus has been given the metroid vaccine, increasing her sensitivity to cold temperatures.  Prior to the vaccine, her normal tolerance of cold made cold temps a non-issue.

I think their confusion about icy X is due to the assumption that the X is still freezing as Samus absorbs it. I figured it just normalizes the temperature of anything that passes through, air or gelatinous.

As for the suit enabling ice cream, I say the parts she acquired from bosses before only had one ability each, and SA-X had everything that she had before the operation. Except for the Grapple Beam, X-Ray Visor, Charge Beam Combos, Bomb Spread, Crystal Flash, Run button, direction locking, IBJ, Flux Capacitor, Murder Beam, Space Time beam, Mockball, cool physics, Toaster, and Gravity Suit glitch. Other than all that it's got everything.

Perhaps this plays into a current theory/speculation that certain upgrades can only remain active under certain conditions (namely duration on a planet, possibly the particular one an upgrade was acrued on; ex: Gravity Suit effect disabling once out of a planet's gravity well(?)).  Before anyone calls out on it, MP3 could be rationalized as the corruption allowing the effects to remain.  This could extend to the Fusion Suit being much more integrated with its abilities.

well..that's a good theory..but let's face it,as Zelda,Metroid has some plot holes that are inexplicable,no matter what...

I love the Zelda series probably as much as the Metroid series, but at least the Metroid series has a clear timeline. :^P

i totally agree with that...

I'm in a Bomberman 64 mood, but that's entirely beside the point.

I think the last Fusion suit is in captivity, the galaxy is at peace REALLY should have been given earlier in the game. People rarely even realize they get the orange suit during that battle, they're just so focused on beating the Omega Metroid.

true.....
one question, is charged missile stronger than charge beam? or stronger than regular missile? or does it even make a difference when killing stuff?

Charge Beam is stronger on most counts.

If you're meaning the charging of the Diffusion Missile, that's a different story. The Diffuser just spreads the missile effect around (the spreading of ice, or if we were able to access the no-ice part, then fire-type energy).
Shifty Leader
That M2k2 guy
I'm not too sure, but I think just getting the diffusion missiles makes your missiles stronger, but the diffusion only freezes things around the explosion if it can. I think Ice Missiles generally give a 2x damage multiplier, but it also freezes them before it kills them.

But each beam you acquire doubles its previous damage, and the plasma beam does damage for EVERY FRAME that it hits an enemy. This basically makes missiles useless as an attack.
