That was a freez dash, you can tell because there is no "dash sound" when you jumped. Not every freez dash goes the same distance though, the better the timing the farther the jump. So, just because you pulled one off doesn't mean you achieved maximum distance.

ok just testing so i can pull of part 3 some time this year

im having difficult time getting even a bad freez dash of the ship tho when you walk of the ledge you dont get a random speed boost like on the ledge in the video
That's why SJF is so difficult. You very rarely get the speed boost off the ship.

this methed is faster and for some reason looks easyer i might try it out a little

Forgot to mention the beetle dash. I don't know if it's easier... it was already exceedingly hard in the gc version.
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
yes but i think its easyer in the trilogy 'cause a freez dash gets more high then scan/ dash jumps  or at lest it looks like it
Just realized that the jump in that video isn't even a freez dash. How he managed to pull that jump off is beyond me.

holy crap your right

im gonna go cry now...
It's probably a good thing. This just means pulling off that jump is much easier than it was thought.
I think he mentioned it being like a "ghetto dash" 'cause he thought that he kind of got a ghetto effect when he started the dash. idk this is just going off memory though.

I think I posted here before about this, but im gonna try again:
I would like someone to make a newbie route for me on how to beat the game without sequence breaks,  (except skipping gravity suit, its okay, i hate everything that has to do with water, i assume this is the only "hard" trick i need to do for this: http://www.metroid2002.com/without_gravity_skip_frigate.php), so no space jump first etc.
I would like the route to look something like this:

Land on Tallon Overworld
Transport to Chzo Ruins West
Get Missile Launcher
Get Morph Ball
Get Morph Ball bombs
Get charge beam
Transport to...

and so on...

I would really appereciate it :)

...before charge theres a missle your gonna want to get

bombs, varia, the artifact (1#) in magmoor thats in the pillery stone wall thing, boost, space jump, wave, (i'd go get lifegiver and ice beam early) or super missles, artifact (2#) thermal visor, spider, artifact of lifgiver (3#) (you need to do a ghetto 'cause theres water outside the door) then ice beam then go to phazon mines , power bombs ,plasma ,x-ray, artifact in that room with x-ray (4#) , artifact (5#) in the room in the mines witht he super elite or what ever its called, phazon suit, artifact of newborn (6#), leave out the back of the mines go to the back of phen and get the artifact (7#) in phens edge, then go back track passed the spider ball room all the way to the place with wave and then get the artifact there (8#), then get out the magmoor and get the artifact (9#) at the top of the 3rd room that i dont know the name of then ice spereder, chozo ruins, artifact (10#) in the room with varia, artifact (11#) in the room with the guy who likes bowling, then go fight ridley (artifact #12 is in that room)
Yeah I forgot to mention about missiles/energy tanks, I will probably go for all the ones "nearby", that arent hard/slow to get :p
But, im gonnna try out what you typed there! :D

Doubt it, since my cap-card only takes pal-50 and i prefer running all my games at full speed (i assume metroid prime gets slowed down by running at pal-50)
btw, "guy who likes bowling", do you mean the room where you need to shoot a wave beam shot, ice beam shot and plazma (hope i got this right) shot at the morph ball holes, where you bomb to make him throw you to different places?

No.

Oh really? I always thought running at PAL-50 would be like running PAL ports of NES, SNES, N64 (and more) games...
Well, if this is the case, I might record/upload this.

yeah  that guy there likes bowling

you shot the the plasma sheild thing and bomb it
Cool!
Looking at your route again, one part confuses me: "super missles, artifact (2#) thermal visor,".. I know that super missiles is in the room above "a map of the planets", and when you go through all these passages, doors and corridors, you get to a dark room where the thermal visor is. However, what artifact is this #2? Is it the one where space pirates comes at you and you should shoot some explosives to make a "tube" fall, but iirc, you need plasma beam to melt the ice blocking your shot?
usually, there are too many changes in pal to compare times with original ntsc (us). see the sda page. however in this case there may not be any changes that matter.

Nate, so the eu runs at SDA runs at pal-50? I am surprised about this actually, I thought there was a seperate eu category due to some glitches being fixed in it + giving europeans a chance to get their prime runs up on SDA.

1. you dont need to fight anyone there if you walk into the room so the the map switchs to that room then jump up on the the ledge above the door you can jump over the "zone"  that starts the fight

2. you dont "need" plasma

its not that hard of a break i think i was the 1st sequence break i ever did in a prime game :D
itspersonal : that did not look hard at all actually, good to know!
Alright well, there is the possibility that i will create a new thread where I will post updates on "My quest of getting decent at Metroid Prime".

yes ... that's why they are different categories. the framerate is just the framerate in this case. it's not the speed the game runs at.

having said that, i believe there was one difference that was found to depend on the framerate - the rate of rise of the spinners in geo core spinning them without boost. my memory may be bad on that though.
